Jeremiah 32
1 The worde that came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, in the tenth yere of Zedekiah king of Iudah, which was the eightenth yeere of Nebuchad-nezzar.
Parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie par le Seigneur en la dixième année de Sédécias, roi de Juda; c’est la dix-huitième année de Nabuchodonosor.
2 For then the King of Babels hoste besieged Ierusalem: And Ieremiah the Prophet was shutte vp in the court of the prison, which was in the King of Iudahs house.
Alors l’armée du roi de Babylone assiégeait Jérusalem; et Jérémie le prophète était enfermé dans le vestibule de la prison qui était dans la maison du roi de Juda.
3 For Zedekiah King of Iudah had shut him vp, saying, Wherefore doest thou prophesie, and say, Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I will giue this citie into the handes of the King of Babel, and he shall take it?
Car Sédécias, roi de Juda, l’avait enfermé, disant: Pourquoi prophétises-tu, disant: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Voilà que moi je livrerai cette ville entre les mains du roi de Babylone, et il la prendra?
4 And Zedekiah the King of Iudah shall not escape out of the hande of the Caldeans, but shall surely be deliuered into the handes of the King of Babel, and shall speake with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall beholde his face,
Et Sédécias, roi de Juda, n’échappera pas à la main des Chaldéens; mais il sera livré entre les mains du roi de Babylone; et sa bouche parlera à sa bouche, et ses yeux verront ses yeux.
5 And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babel, and there shall he be, vntil I visit him, saith ye Lord: though ye fight with the Caldeans, ye shall not prosper.
Et il mènera Sédécias à Babylone; et il y sera jusqu’à ce que je le visite, dit le Seigneur; mais, si vous combattez contre les Chaldéens, vous n’aurez aucun succès.
6 And Ieremiah said, The word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
Et Jérémie dit: La parole du Seigneur m’a été adressée, disant:
7 Beholde, Hanameel, the sonne of Shallum thine vncle, shall come vnto thee and say, Bye vnto thee my fielde, that is in Anathoth: for the title by kindred appertaineth vnto thee to bye it.
Voilà qu’Hanaméel, fils de Sellum, ton cousin germain, viendra vers toi, disant: Achète-toi mon champ qui est à Anathoth, parce que c’est à toi qu’il appartient de l’acheter, à cause de ta parenté.
8 So Hanameel, mine vncles sonne, came to mee in the court of the prison, according to the word of the Lord, and said vnto me, Bye my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the countrey of Beniamin: for the right of the possession is thine, and the purchase belongeth vnto thee: bye it for thee. Then I knewe that this was the worde of the Lord.
Et Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, vint à moi, selon la parole du Seigneur, dans le vestibule de la prison, et il me dit: Prends possession de mon champ qui est à Anathoth, en la terre de Benjamin; parce que c’est à toi qu’il appartient de prendre possession de cet héritage, car tu es le proche parent. Or je compris que c’était la parole du Seigneur.
9 And I bought the field of Hanameel, mine vncles sonne, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the siluer, euen seuen shekels, and tenne pieces of siluer.
Et j’achetai d’Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, le champ qui est à Anathoth; et je lui pesai l’argent, sept statères et dix pièces d’argent.
10 And I writ it in the booke and signed it, and tooke witnesses, and weighed him the siluer in the balances.
Et j’écrivis sur la feuille et je la scellai et, je pris des témoins; et je pesai l’argent dans une balance.
11 So I tooke the booke of the possession, being sealed according to the Lawe, and custome, with the booke that was open,
Et je pris la feuille d’acquisition scellée, et les stipulations, et ce qui était convenu, et les sceaux mis en dehors.
12 And I gaue the booke of the possession vnto Baruch the sonne of Neriah, the sonne of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine vncles sonne, and in the presence of the witnesses, written in the booke of the possession, before al the Iewes that sate in the court of the prison.
Et je donnai la feuille d’acquisition à Baruch, fils de Néri, fils de Maasias, sous les yeux d’Hanaméel, mon cousin germain, sous les yeux des témoins qui étaient inscrits sur la feuille d’achat., sous les yeux et en présence de tous les Juifs qui étaient assis dans le vestibule de la prison.
13 And I charged Baruch before them, saying,
Et j’ordonnai à Baruch devant eux, disant:
14 Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Take the writings, euen this booke of the possession, both that is sealed, and this booke that is open, and put them in an earthen vessell, that they may continue a long time.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées. Dieu d’Israël: Prends ces feuilles, cette feuille d’achat scellée, et cette feuille qui est ouverte; et mets-les dans un vase de terre, afin qu’elles puissent se conserver durant de longs jours.
15 For the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel saith thus, Houses and fieldes, and vineyardes shall be possessed againe in this land.
Car voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées, Dieu d’Israël: On acquerra encore des maisons, des champs et des vignes en cette terre.
16 Now when I had deliuered the booke of the possession vnto Baruch, the sonne of Neriah, I prayed vnto the Lord, saying,
Et je priai le Seigneur, après que j’eus donné le feuillet d’acquisition à Baruch, fils de Néri, disant:
17 Ah Lord God, beholde, thou hast made the heauen and the earth by thy great power, and by thy stretched out arme, and there is nothing hard vnto thee.
Hélas! hélas! hélas! Seigneur mon Dieu, voilà que vous avez fait le ciel et la terre par votre grande puissance et par votre bras étendu; aucune chose ne vous sera difficile;
18 Thou shewest mercie vnto thousands, and recompensest the iniquitie of the fathers into the bosome of their children after them: O God the great and mightie, whose Name is ye Lord of hostes,
Vous qui faites miséricorde à des milliers de créatures, et qui rendez l’iniquité des pères dans le sein de leurs fils après eux, ô le très fort, le grand, et le puissant, le Seigneur des armées est votre nom.
19 Great in counsell, and mightie in worke, (for thine eyes are open vpon all the wayes of ye sonnes of men, to giue to euery one according to his wayes, and according to the fruite of his workes)
Vous êtes grand dans vos conseils, et incompréhensible dans vos pensées; vous dont les yeux sont ouverts sur toutes les voies des fils d’Adam, afin de rendre à chacun selon ses voies et selon le fruit de ses inventions.
20 Which hast set signes and wonders in the land of Egypt vnto this day, and in Israel, and among all men, and hast made thee a Name, as appeareth this day,
C’est vous qui avez fait jusqu’à ce jour des signes et des prodiges dans la terre d’Egypte, en Israël et parmi les hommes, et vous avez rendu votre nom célèbre comme il est en ce jour.
21 And hast brought thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signes, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, with a stretched out arme, and with great terrour,
Et vous avez tiré Israël votre peuple de la terre d’Egypte, par des signes, et par des prodiges, et par une main forte, et par un bras étendu, et par une grande terreur.
22 And hast giuen them this land, which thou diddest sweare to their fathers to giue them, euen a land, that floweth with milke and hony,
Et vous leur avez donné cette terre que vous aviez juré à leurs pères de leur donner, une terre où couleraient du lait et du miel.
23 And they came in, and possessed it, but they obeyed not thy voyce, neither walked in thy Law: all that thou commaundedst them to doe, they haue not done: therefore thou hast caused this whole plague to come vpon them.
Et ils sont entrés, et ils l’ont possédée; et ils n’ont point obéi à votre voix, et ils n’ont pas marché dans votre loi; et ils n’ont rien fait de tout ce que vous leur avez ordonné; et tous ces maux sont venus sur eux.
24 Beholde, the mounts, they are come into the citie to take it, and the citie is giuen into the hande of the Caldeans, that fight against it by meanes of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence, and what thou hast spoken, is come to passe, and beholde, thou seest it.
Voilà que des fortifications ont été construites contre la cité, afin de la prendre; et la ville a été livrée aux mains des Chaldéens qui combattent contre elle, au glaive, et à la famine, et à la peste, et tout ce que vous avez dit est arrivé, comme vous-même le voyez.
25 And thou hast sayd vnto me, O Lord God, Bye vnto thee the fielde for siluer, and take witnesses: for the citie shall be giuen into the hand of the Caldeans.
Et vous, Seigneur mon Dieu, vous me dites: Achète le champ avec de l’argent, et prends des témoins, quoique la ville ait été livrée aux mains des Chaldéens.
26 Then came the worde of the Lord vnto Ieremiah, saying,
Et la parole du Seigneur fut adressée à Jérémie, disant:
27 Beholde, I am the LORD GOD of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
Voici que moi je suis le Seigneur, le Dieu de toute chair; est-ce qu’une chose me sera difficile?
28 Therefore thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I wil giue this citie into the hand of the Caldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchad-nezzar, King of Babel, and he shall take it.
À cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Voilà que moi je livrerai cette cité aux mains des Chaldéens, et aux mains du roi de Babylone, et ils la prendront.
29 And the Caldeans shall come and fight against this citie, and set fire on this citie and burne it, with the houses, vpon whose rouses they haue offred incense vnto Baal, and powred drinke offrings vnto other gods, to prouoke me vnto anger.
Elles Chaldéens viendront combattant contre cette ville, et ils y mettront le feu, et ils la brûleront, ainsi que les maisons sur les toits desquelles ils sacrifiaient à Baal et faisaient à des dieux étrangers de nombreuses libations pour m’irriter.
30 For the children of Israel, and the children of Iudah haue surely done euill before me from their youth: for the children of Israel haue surely prouoked me to anger with the workes of their hands, saith the Lord.
Car les fils d’Israël et les fils de Juda faisaient continuellement le mal sous mes yeux dès leur jeunesse; les fils d’Israël qui jusqu’à ce jour me révoltaient par les œuvres de leurs mains, dit le Seigneur.
31 Therefore this citie hath bene vnto me as a prouocation of mine anger, and of my wrath, from the day, that they built it, euen vnto this day, that I should remoue it out of my sight,
Parce que cette cité est devenue pour moi un objet de fureur et d’indignation, depuis le jour qu’on l’a bâtie, jusqu’au jour où elle disparaîtra de ma présence,
32 Because of all the euill of the children of Israel, and of the children of Iudah, which they haue done to prouoke mee to anger, euen they, their Kings, their Princes, their Priests, and their Prophets, and the men of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem.
À cause du mal que les enfants d’Israël et les enfants de Juda ont fait, en me provoquant au courroux, eux et leurs rois, leurs princes, et leurs prêtres, et leurs prophètes, les hommes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem.
33 And they haue turned vnto me the backe and not the face: though I taught them rising vp earely, and instructing them, yet they were not obedient to receiue doctrine,
Et ils ont tourné vers moi le dos et non la face, lorsque je les enseignais au point du jour, et que je les instruisais, et qu’ils ne voulaient pas écouter et recevoir l’instruction.
34 But they set their abominations in ye house (whereupon my Name was called) to defile it,
Et ils ont mis leurs idoles dans la maison dans laquelle a été invoqué mon nom. afin de la souiller.
35 And they built the hie places of Baal, which are in the valley of Ben-hinnom, to cause their sonnes and their daughters to passe through the fire vnto Molech, which I commanded them not, neither came it into my minde, that they should doe such abomination, to cause Iudah to sinne.
Et ils ont bâti les hauts lieux de Baal qui sont dans la vallée du fils d’Ennom, afin de consacrer leurs fils et leurs filles à Moloch; ce que je ne leur ai pas commandé; et il n’est pas monté jusqu’à mon cœur qu’ils feraient cette abomination, et qu’ils entraîneraient Juda dans le péché.
36 And nowe therefore, thus hath the Lord God of Israel spoken, concerning this citie, whereof ye say, It shalbe deliuered into the hand of the King of Babel by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence,
Et maintenant, à cause de cela, voici ce que dit le Seigneur, Dieu d’Israël, à cette cité dont vous dites, vous, qu’elle sera livrée aux mains du roi de Babylone, par le glaive, par la famine et par la peste:
37 Beholde, I will gather them out of all countreys, wherein I haue scattered them in mine anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation, and I wil bring them againe vnto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely.
Voilà que moi, je les rassemblerai de toutes les terres dans lesquelles je les ai jetés dans ma fureur, et dans ma colère et dans ma grande indignation, et je les ramènerai en ce lieu, et je les y ferai habiter en assurance.
38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
Et ils seront mon peuple, et moi je serai leur Dieu.
39 And I wil giue them one heart and one way that they may feare me for euer for ye wealth of them, and of their children after them.
Et je leur donnerai un seul cœur et une seule voie, afin qu’ils me craignent tous les jours de leur vie, et que bien leur soit à eux et à leurs fils après eux.
40 And I wil make an euerlasting couenant with them, that I wil neuer turne away from them to doe them good, but I wil put my feare in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.
Et je ferai avec eux une alliance éternelle, et je ne cesserai point de leur faire du bien; et je mettrai ma crainte dans leur cœur, afin qu’ils ne se retirent pas de moi.
41 Yea, I wil delite in them to do them good, and I wil plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart, and with all my soule.
Et je me réjouirai en eux, lorsque je leur aurai fait du bien; et je les rétablirai en cette terre dans la vérité, de tout mon cœur, et de toute mon âme.
42 For thus sayth the Lord, Like as I haue brought all this great plague vpon this people, so wil I bring vpon them all the good that I haue promised them.
Car voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Comme j’ai amené sur ce peuple tous ces grands maux, ainsi j’amènerai sur eux tous les biens que je leur promets.
43 And the fields shalbe possessed in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast, and shalbe giuen into the hand of the Caldeans.
Elles champs auront encore des possesseurs dans cette terre de laquelle vous dites, vous, qu’elle est déserte, parce qu’il n’y est pas demeure d’homme ni de bête, et qu’elle a été livrée aux mains des Chaldéens.
44 Men shall buy fields for siluer, and make writings and seale them, and take witnesses in the land of Beniamin, and round about Ierusalem, and in the cities of Iudah, and in the cities of the mountaines, and in the cities of the plaine, and in the cities of the South: for I wil cause their captiuitie to returne, saith the Lord.
Les champs seront achetés avec de l’argent, et ils seront inscrits sur la feuille, et un sceau y sera gravé, des témoins seront invoqués, dans la terre de Benjamin et aux environs de Jérusalem; dans les cités de Juda, dans les cités des montagnes, dans les cités de la plaine, et dans les cités qui sont au midi; parce que je ramènerai leurs captifs, dit le Seigneur.
