Jeremiah 27
1 In the beginning of the reigne of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah came this worde vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, saying,
Au commencement du règne de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, cette parole fut adressée à Jérémie par le Seigneur, disant:
2 Thus saith the Lord to me, Make thee bonds, and yokes, and put them vpon thy necke,
Voici ce que me dit le Seigneur: Fais-toi des liens, et des chaînes, et tu les mettras à ton cou.
3 And send them to the King of Edom, and to the King of Moab, and to the King of the Ammonites, and to the King of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hande of the messengers which come to Ierusale vnto Zedekiah ye king of Iudah,
Et tu les enverras au roi d’Edom, et au roi de Moab, et au roi des enfants d’Ammon, et au roi de Tyr, et au roi de Sidon, par la main des ambassadeurs qui sont venus à Jérusalem vers Sédécias, roi de Juda.
4 And commande them to saye vnto their masters, Thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, Thus shall ye say vnto your masters,
Et tu leur ordonneras de parler ainsi à leurs maîtres: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées, Dieu d’Israël: Vous direz ceci à vos maîtres:
5 I haue made the earth, the man, and the beast that are vpon the groud, by my great power, and by my outstreched arme, and haue giuen it vnto whom it pleased me.
C’est moi qui ai fait la terre, et les hommes et les hôtes qui sont sur la face de la terre, par ma grande puissance et par mon bras étendu; et j’ai donné la terre à celui qui a plu à mes yeux.
6 But nowe I haue giuen all these landes into the hand of Nebuchad-nezzar the King of Babel my seruant, and the beastes of the fielde haue I also giuen him to serue him.
Et c’est pourquoi moi j’ai maintenant mis toutes ces terres dans la maison de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur; de plus, je lui ai donné les bêtes de la campagne, afin qu’elles lui soient soumises.
7 And all nations shall serue him, and his sonne, and his sonnes sonne vntill the very time of his lande come also: then many nations and great Kinges shall serue themselues of him.
Et toutes les nations lui seront soumises, à lui et à son fils, et au fils de son fils, jusqu’à ce que vienne le temps de son royaume et son propre temps, et beaucoup de nations et de grands rois lui seront soumis.
8 And the nation and kingdome which will not serue the same Nebuchad-nezzar king of Babel, and that will not put their necke vnder the yoke of the King of Babel, the same nation will I visite, saith the Lord, with the sworde, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, vntill I haue wholy giuen them into his hands.
Mais la nation et le royaume qui ne se soumettra pas à Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, et quiconque ne courbera pas son cou sous le joug du roi de Babylone, c’est par le glaive, par la faim, et par la peste, que je visiterai cette nation, jusqu’à ce que je les aie consumés par sa main.
9 Therefore heare not your prophets nor your southsayers, nor your dreamers, nor your inchanters, nor your sorcerers, which say vnto you thus, Ye shall not serue the King of Babel.
Vous donc, n’écoutez pas vos prophètes, et vos devins et vos rêveurs, vos augures et vos magiciens, qui vous disent: Vous ne serez pas soumis au roi de Babylone.
10 For they prophecie a lie vnto you to cause you to goe farre from your lande, and that I should cast you out, and you should perish.
Parce qu’ils vous prophétisent un mensonge, afin de vous envoyer loin de votre terre, et de vous en chasser, et de vous faire périr.
11 But the nation that put their neckes vnder the yoke of the King of Babel, and serue him, those wil I let remaine stil in their owne land, saith the Lord, and they shall occupie it, and dwel therein.
Or la nation qui mettra son cou sous le joug du roi de Babylone, et se soumettra à lui, je la laisserai dans sa terre, dit le Seigneur; et elle la cultivera, et elle y habitera.
12 I spake also to Zedekiah king of Iudah according to all these wordes, saying, Put your neckes vnder the yoke of the King of Babel, and serue him and his people, that ye may liue.
Et à Sédécias, roi de Juda, dans les mêmes termes j’ai parlé, disant: Mettez vos cous sous le joug du roi de Babylone, et soumettez-vous à lui et à son peuple, et vous vivrez.
13 Why will ye dye, thou, and thy people by the sworde, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the Lord hath spoken against the nation, that will not serue the King of Babel?
Pourquoi mourrez-vous, vous et votre peuple, par le glaive, et par la famine, et par la peste, comme l’a dit le Seigneur de la nation qui n’aura pas voulu se soumettre au roi de Babylone?
14 Therefore heare not the words of the prophets, that speake vnto you, saying, Ye shall not serue the King of Babel: for they prophecie a lie vnto you.
N’écoutez pas les paroles des prophètes qui vous disent: Vous ne serez pas soumis au roi de Babylone; parce que c’est un mensonge qu’eux vous disent.
15 For I haue not sent them, saith the Lord, yet they prophecie a lie in my name, that I might cast you out, and that ye might perish, both you, and the prophets that prophecie vnto you.
Parce que je ne les ai pas envoyés, dit le Seigneur, et ils prophétisent en mon nom faussement, afin de vous chasser de votre terre et de vous faire périr, vous et les prophètes qui vous prédisent l’avenir.
16 Also I spake to the Priests, and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Heare not the wordes of your prophets that prophecie vnto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the house of the Lord shall nowe shortly be brought againe from Babel, for they prophecie a lie vnto you.
Et j’ai parlé aux prêtres et à ce peuple, disant: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: N’écoutez pas les paroles de vos prophètes qui vous prophétisent, disant: Voilà que les vases du Seigneur seront bientôt rapportés de Babylone; car c’est un mensonge qu’ils vous prophétisent.
17 Heare them not, but serue the King of Babel, that ye may liue: wherefore shoulde this citie be desolate?
Ne les écoutez donc pas; mais soumettez-vous au roi de Babylone, afin que vous viviez; pourquoi cette cité sera-t-elle réduite en une solitude?
18 But if they be Prophets, and if the word of the Lord be with them, let them intreate the Lord of hostes, that the vessels, which are left in the House of the Lord, and in the house of the King of Iudah, and at Ierusalem, go not to Babel.
Que s’ils sont prophètes et que la parole du Seigneur soit en eux, qu’ils s’opposent au Seigneur des armées, afin que les vases laissés dans la maison du Seigneur, et dans la maison du roi de Juda, et à Jérusalem, ne soient pas transférés à Babylone.
19 For thus saith the Lord of hostes, concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remaine in this citie,
Parce que voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées relativement aux colonnes, et à la mer, et aux bases, et aux restes des vases qui ont été laissés dans cette cité,
20 Which Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel tooke not, when he caryed away captiue Ieconiah the sonne of Iehoiakim King of Iudah from Ierusalem to Babel, with all the nobles of Iudah and Ierusalem.
Que n’emporta pas Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, lorsqu’il transféra Jéchonias, fils de Joakim, roi de Juda, de Jérusalem à Babylone, et tous les grands de Juda et de Jérusalem;
21 For thus saith the Lord of hostes the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remaine in the House of the Lord, and in the house of the King of Iudah, and at Ierusalem,
Parce que, dis-je, voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées, Dieu d’Israël, relativement aux vases qui ont été laissés dans la maison du roi de Juda et dans Jérusalem:
22 They shall be brought to Babel, and there they shalbe vntil the day that I visite them, saith the Lord: then will I bring them vp, and restore them vnto this place.
Ils seront transportés à Babylone, et ils y seront jusqu’au jour de leur visite, dit le Seigneur; et je les ferai rapporter et rétablir en ce lieu.
