Jeremiah 21
1 The worde which came vnto Ieremiah from the Lord, when king Zedekiah sent vnto him Pashur, the sonne of Malchiah, and Zephaniah, the sonne of Maaseiah the Priest, saying,
Cuvântul care a venit la Ieremia, de la DOMNUL, când împăratul Zedechia a trimis la el pe Pașhur fiul lui Malchiia și pe Țefania, fiul lui Maaseia, preotul, spunând:
2 Inquire, I pray thee, of the Lord for vs, (for Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel maketh warre against vs) if so be that the Lord will deale with vs according to all his wonderous workes, that he may returne vp from vs.
Întreabă, te rog, pe DOMNUL pentru noi, pentru că Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului, face război împotriva noastră; poate că DOMNUL se va purta cu noi conform cu toate lucrările lui minunate, ca Nebucadnețar să plece de la noi.
3 Then said Ieremiah, Thus shall you say to Zedekiah,
Atunci Ieremia le-a spus: Astfel să îi spuneți lui Zedechia:
4 Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Behold, I will turne backe the weapons of warre that are in your hands, wherewith ye fight against the King of Babel, and against the Caldeans, which besiege you without the walles, and I will assemble them into the middes of this citie.
Astfel spune DOMNUL Dumnezeul lui Israel: Iată, voi întoarce înapoi armele de război care sunt în mâinile voastre, cu care luptați împotriva împăratului Babilonului și împotriva caldeenilor care vă asediază în afara zidului; și le voi aduna în mijlocul acestei cetăți.
5 And I my selfe will fight against you with an outstretched hand, and with a mighty arme, eue in anger and in wrath, and in great indignation.
Și eu însumi voi lupta împotriva voastră cu o mână întinsă și cu un braț puternic, în mânie și în furie și în mare indignare.
6 And I will smite the inhabitants of this citie, both man, and beast: they shall die of a great pestilence.
Și voi lovi pe locuitorii acestei cetăți, deopotrivă pe om și pe animal; aceștia vor muri de o ciumă cumplită.
7 And after this, sayeth the Lord, I will deliuer Zedekiah the King of Iudah, and his seruants, and the people, and such as are left in this citie, from the pestilence, from the sworde and from the famine into the hande of Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel, and into the hande of their enemies, and into the hande of those that seeke their liues, and he shall smite them with the edge of the sworde: he shall not spare them, neither haue pitie nor compassion.
Și după aceea, spune DOMNUL, îl voi da pe Zedechia, împăratul lui Iuda, și pe servitorii lui și pe popor și pe cei care au rămas în această cetate după ciumă, după sabie și după foamete, în mâna lui Nebucadnețar împăratul Babilonului, și în mâna dușmanilor lor și în mâna celor ce le caută viața; și el îi va lovi cu tăișul sabiei: nu îi va cruța, nici nu va avea îndurare, nici nu va avea milă.
8 And vnto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
Și acestui popor să îi spui: Astfel spune DOMNUL: Iată, pun înaintea voastră calea vieții și calea morții.
9 He that abideth in this citie, shall dye by the sword and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Caldeans, that besiege you, he shall liue, and his life shalbe vnto him for a pray.
Cel ce rămâne în această cetate va muri de sabie și de foamete și de ciumă; dar cel care iese și se predă caldeenilor care vă asediază va trăi și viața lui îi va fi drept pradă.
10 For I haue set my face against this citie, for euill and not for good, saith the Lord: it shalbe giuen into the hande of the King of Babel, and he shall burne it with fire.
Pentru că mi-am îndreptat fața împotriva acestei cetăți pentru rău și nu pentru bine, spune DOMNUL: ea va fi dată în mâna împăratului Babilonului și el o va arde cu foc.
11 And say vnto the house of the King of Iudah, Heare ye the worde of the Lord.
Și referitor la casa împăratului lui Iuda, spune: Ascultați cuvântul DOMNULUI:
12 O house of Dauid, thus saith the Lord, Execute iudgement in the morning, and deliuer the oppressed out of the hande of the oppressor, lest my wrath go out like fire and burne, that none can quench it, because of the wickednes of your workes.
Casă a lui David, astfel spune DOMNUL: Faceți judecată dimineața și eliberați-l pe cel prădat, din mâna opresorului, ca nu cumva furia mea să izbucnească precum un foc și să ardă astfel încât să nu fie nimeni să îl poată stinge, din cauza răutății facerilor voastre.
13 Beholde, I come against thee, O inhabitant of the valley, and rocke of the plaine, saith the Lord, which say, Who shall come downe against vs? or who shall enter into our habitations?
Iată, eu sunt împotriva ta, locuitoare a văii și stâncă mare a câmpului, spune DOMNUL; care spuneți: Cine va coborî împotriva noastră? Sau, cine va intra în locuințele noastre?
14 But I will visite you according to the fruite of your workes, saith the Lord, and I will kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall deuoure rounde about it.
Dar eu vă voi pedepsi conform cu rodul facerilor voastre, spune DOMNUL; și voi aprinde un foc în pădurea lui și acesta va mistui toate lucrurile de jur împrejurul lui.
