Jeremiah 20
1 When Pashur, the sonne of Immer, the Priest, which was appointed gouernour in the house of the Lord, heard that Ieremiah prophecied these things,
Pha-su-rơ, con trai của thầy tế lễ Y-mê, làm quản đốc nhà Đức Giê-hô-va, có nghe Giê-rê-mi nói tiên tri những việc nầy.
2 Then Pashur smote Ieremiah the Prophet, and put him in the stockes that were in the hie gate of Beniamin which was by the House of the Lord.
Pha-su-rơ bèn đánh đòn đấng tiên tri Giê-rê-mi, cùm lại ở cửa trên Bên-gia-min, thuộc về nhà Đức Giê-hô-va.
3 And on the morning, Pashur brought Ieremiah out of the stockes. Then said Ieremiah vnto him, The Lord hath not called thy name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
Bữa sau, Pha-su-rơ thả Giê-rê-mi ra khỏi cùm. Giê-rê-mi nói với người rằng: Đức Giê-hô-va không xưng ngươi là Pha-su-rơ đâu, mà xưng là Ma-go-Mít-sa-bíp.
4 For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will make thee to be a terrour to thy self, and to al thy friends, and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall beholde it, and I will giue all Iudah into the hande of the King of Babel, and he shall cary them captiue into Babel, and shall slay them with the sworde.
Vì Đức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Nầy, ta sẽ phó ngươi làm sự kinh hãi cho chính mình và hết thảy bạn hữu mình nữa; chúng nó sẽ chết bởi gươm của kẻ thù mình, chính mắt ngươi sẽ ngó thấy. Ta cũng sẽ phó cả dân sự Giu-đa trong tay vua Ba-by-lôn, người sẽ đem chúng nó sang Ba-by-lôn làm phu tù, và lấy gươm giết đi.
5 Moreouer, I will deliuer all the substance of this citie, and all the labours thereof, and al the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the Kings of Iudah will I giue into the hande of their enemies, which shall spoyle them, and take them away and cary them to Babel.
Ta lại sẽ phó mọi của cải thành nầy, cùng lợi đã làm ra, vật quí hiện có; thật, ta sẽ phó đồ châu báu của các vua Giu-đa trong tay kẻ thù nghịch, chúng nó sẽ lấy làm của cướp mà đem về Ba-by-lôn.
6 And thou Pashur, and all that dwell in thine house, shall go into captiuitie, and thou shalt come to Babel, and there thou shalt die, and shalt be buryed there, thou and all thy friendes, to whome thou hast prophecied lyes.
Hỡi Pha-su-rơ, chính mình ngươi cùng những kẻ ở trong nhà ngươi, thảy đều đi làm phu tù. Ngươi sẽ đến Ba-by-lôn, chết và chôn tại đó, luôn cả bạn hữu ngươi nữa, tức những kẻ mà ngươi đã nói tiên tri giả dối cho.
7 O Lord, thou hast deceiued me, and I am deceiued: thou art stronger then I, and hast preuailed: I am in derision daily: euery one mocketh me.
Hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va, Ngài đã khuyên dỗ tôi, và tôi đã chịu khuyên dỗ; Ngài mạnh hơn tôi và đã được thắng. Trọn ngày tôi cứ làm trò cười, và ai cũng nhạo báng tôi.
8 For since I spake, I cryed out of wrong, and proclaimed desolation: therefore the word of the Lord was made a reproche vnto me, and in derision daily.
Mỗi lần tôi nói thì cất tiếng kêu la; tôi kêu rằng: Bạo ngược và hủy diệt! Vì lời của Đức Giê-hô-va làm cho tôi cả ngày bị sỉ nhục chê cười.
9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speake any more in his Name. But his worde was in mine heart as a burning fire shut vp in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
Nếu tôi nói: Tôi sẽ chẳng nói đến Ngài nữa; tôi sẽ chẳng nhân danh Ngài mà nói nữa, thì trong lòng tôi như lửa đốt cháy, bọc kín trong xương tôi, và tôi mệt mỏi vì nín lặng, không chịu được nữa.
10 For I had heard the railing of many, and feare on euery side. Declare, said they, and wee wil declare it: all my familiars watched for mine halting, saying, It may be that he is deceiued: so we shall preuaile against him, and we shall execute our vengeance vpon him.
Tôi có nghe những lời chế nhạo của nhiều người, kinh hãi mọi bề. Những bạn hữu thiết nghĩa của tôi trông cho tôi vấp ngã, đều nói rằng: Hãy cáo nó, và chúng ta cũng sẽ cáo nó; có lẽ nó sẽ chịu khuyên dỗ, thì chúng ta sẽ thắng nó, và trả thù nó.
11 But the Lord is with me like a mightie gyant: therefore my persecuters shall be ouerthrowen, and shall not preuaile, and shalbe greatly confounded: for they haue done vnwisely, and their euerlasting shame shall neuer be forgotten.
Nhưng Đức Giê-hô-va ở với tôi như một tay anh hùng đáng khiếp; nên những kẻ bắt bớ tôi sẽ vấp ngã, sẽ chẳng thắng hơn. Vì họ ăn ở chẳng khôn, thì sẽ chịu sỉ nhục rất lớn, tức là sự hổ nhuốc đời đời chẳng hề quên được.
12 But, O Lord of hostes, that tryest the righteous, and seest the reines and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for vnto thee haue I opened my cause.
Nhưng, hỡi Đức Giê-hô-va vạn quân! Ngài là Đấng thử người công bình, xem thấu trong lòng trong trí, xin cho tôi thấy Ngài báo thù họ, vì tôi đã đem việc mình tỏ cùng Ngài.
13 Sing vnto the Lord, praise ye the Lord: for he hath deliuered the soule of the poore from the hande of the wicked.
Hãy hát cho Đức Giê-hô-va, hãy ngợi khen Đức Giê-hô-va! Vì Ngài đã giải cứu linh hồn kẻ nghèo nàn ra khỏi tay những kẻ ác.
14 Cursed be the day wherein I was borne: and let not the day wherein my mother bare me, be blessed.
Đáng rủa cho cái ngày mà tôi đã sinh! Nguyền cho cái ngày mà mẹ tôi đẻ tôi ra đừng được phước!
15 Cursed be the man, that shewed my father, saying, A man child is borne vnto thee, and comforted him.
Đáng rủa thay là người đem tin cho cha tôi rằng: Ngươi đã sanh con trai! làm cho cha tôi đầy sự vui mừng.
16 And let that man be as the cities, which the Lord hath ouerturned and repented not: and let him heare the cry in the morning, and the showting at noone tide,
Nguyền cho người đó cũng như các thành mà Đức Giê-hô-va đã phá đổ chẳng phàn nàn! Nguyền cho nó vừa lúc ban mai nghe kêu la, đến trưa nghe kêu lớn tiếng;
17 Because he hath not slaine me, euen from the wombe, or that my mother might haue bene my graue, or her wobe a perpetual conception.
vì đã chẳng giết tôi từ trong lòng mẹ; thì mẹ tôi đã làm mồ mả tôi, và thai lớn luôn luôn.
18 How is it, that I came forth of the wombe, to see labour and sorowe, that my dayes shoulde be consumed with shame?
Sao tôi đã ra khỏi thai để chịu cực khổ lo buồn, cả đời mang sỉ nhục?
