Jeremiah 16
1 The worde of the Lord came also vnto mee, saying,
Me llegó la palabra de Yahvé, que dijo:
2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, nor haue sonnes nor daughters in this place.
“No tomes mujer, ni tengas hijos ni hijas en este lugar.
3 For thus sayeth the Lord concerning the sonnes, and concerning the daughters that are borne in this place, and concerning their mothers that beare them, and concerning their fathers, that beget them in this land,
Porque así dice Yahvé acerca de los hijos e hijas que nacen en este lugar, y acerca de sus madres que los dan a luz, y acerca de sus padres que los engendran en este país:
4 They shall die of deathes and diseases: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried, but they shalbe as dung vpon the earth, and they shalbe consumed by the sword, and by famine, and their carkeises shall be meate for the foules of the heauen, and for the beasts of the earth.
De muerte dolorosa morirán; no serán llorados ni sepultados; yacerán como estiércol sobre el haz del campo; perecerán por la espada y por el hambre; y sus cadáveres serán pasto de las aves del cielo y de las bestias de la tierra.”
5 For thus saith the Lord, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither goe to lament, nor be moued for the: for I haue taken my peace, from this people, saith the Lord, euen mercy and compassion.
Pues así dice Yahvé: “No entres en casa de luto, no vayas a llorar ni expresar tu duelo con ellos, pues Yo, dice Yahvé, he retirado de este pueblo mi paz, la piedad y la misericordia.
6 Both the great, and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them nor cut themselues, nor make themselues balde for them.
Grandes y pequeños morirán en este país, no serán sepultados ni se los lamentará; nadie se hará por ellos sajaduras ni calvez;
7 They shall not stretch out the hands for the in the mourning to comfort them for the dead, neither shall they giue them the cup of consolation to drinke for their father or for their mother.
nadie partirá con ellos (el pan) en su duelo, para consolarlos por el muerto, ni se les dará de beber la copa de consolación por (la muerte de) su padre o de su madre.
8 Thou shalt not also goe into the house of feasting to sit with them to eate and to drinke.
Tampoco entres en casa donde haya festín para sentarte con ellos a comer y beber.
9 For thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Beholde, I wil cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, euen in your dayes the voyce of myrth, and the voyce of gladnes, the voyce of the bridegrome and the voyce of the bride.
Porque así dice Yahvé de los ejércitos, el Dios de Israel: He aquí que voy a hacer que en este lugar, a vuestros ojos, y en vuestros días, enmudezca la voz de gozo y la voz de alegría, el canto del esposo y el canto de la esposa.
10 And when thou shalt shewe this people all these wordes, and they shall say vnto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great plague against vs? or what is our iniquitie? and what is our sinne that we haue committed against the Lord our God?
Cuando anuncies a este pueblo todas estas cosas, y ellos te digan: «¿Por qué ha decretado Yahvé contra nosotros todo este mal tan grande? Pues, ¿cuál es nuestra iniquidad, y cual nuestro pecado que hemos cometido contra Yahvé, nuestro Dios?»
11 Then shalt thou say vnto them, Because your fathers haue forsaken me, sayth the Lord, and haue walked after other gods, and haue serued them, and worshipped them, and haue forsaken me, and haue not kept my Law,
Entonces les dirás: Porque me abandonaron vuestros padres, dice Yahvé, y se fueron en pos de otros dioses; y les sirvieron y los adoraron abandonándome a Mí y quebrantando mi Ley.
12 (And ye haue done worse then your fathers: for beholde, you walke euery one after the stubbernesse of his wicked heart, and will not heare me)
Y vosotros habéis hecho cosas peores aún que vuestros padres; pues he aquí que andáis cada uno según la obstinación de su depravado corazón, sin escucharme a Mí.
13 Therefore will I driue you out of this land into a lande that ye knowe not, neither you, nor your fathers, and there shall ye serue other gods day and night: for I will shew you no grace.
Por lo tanto os arrojaré de este país a otro desconocido de vosotros y de vuestros padres; allí serviréis a otros dioses, día y noche, y no tendré compasión de vosotros.
14 Behold therfore, saith the Lord, the dayes come that it shall no more be sayde, The Lord liueth, which brought vp the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt,
Por eso, he aquí que vienen días, dice Yahvé, en que ya no se dirá: «Vive Yahvé, que sacó a los hijos de Israel de la tierra de Egipto»,
15 But the Lord liueth, that brought vp the children of Israel from the lande of the North, and from all the landes where hee had scattered them, and I wil bring them againe into their land that I gaue vnto their fathers.
sino «Vive Yahvé, que sacó a los hijos de Israel del país del Norte, y de todos los países, adonde los había arrojado», y los haré volver a la tierra que di a sus padres.
16 Behold, sayth the Lord, I wil send out many fishers, and they shall fish them, and after, will I send out many hunters, and they shall hunt them from euery mountaine and from euery hill, and out of the caues of the rockes.
He aquí que enviaré muchos pescadores, dice Yahvé, que los pescarán, y después enviaré muchos cazadores que los cazarán por todos los montes y por todos los collados y en las hendiduras de las rocas.
17 For mine eyes are vpon al their wayes: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquitie hid from mine eyes.
Porque mis ojos están observando todos sus caminos, delante de Mí no está escondido ninguno, y su iniquidad no está encubierta ante mis ojos.
18 And first I will recompense their iniquitie and their sinne double, because they haue defiled my lande, and haue filled mine inheritance with their filthie carions and their abominations.
Primeramente les pagaré al doble su iniquidad y su pecado, por haber contaminado mi tierra con los cadáveres de sus ídolos, y llenado mi herencia con sus abominaciones.”
19 O Lord, thou art my force, and my strength and my refuge in the day of affliction: the Gentiles shall come vnto thee from the ends of the world, and shall say, Surely our fathers haue inherited lies, and vanitie, wherein was no profite.
Oh Yahvé, fuerza mía y fortaleza mía, y mi refugio en el día de la tribulación, a Ti vendrán las naciones desde los confines de la tierra, y dirán: “Ciertamente nuestros padres no tenían otra herencia que la mentira y vanidades que de nada sirven.”
20 Shall a man make gods vnto himselfe, and they are no gods?
¿Acaso el hombre puede fabricarse dioses, que en realidad no son dioses?
21 Beholde, therefore I will this once teach them: I will shewe them mine hande and my power, and they shall know that my Name is the Lord.
Por eso, he aquí que esta vez les doy a conocer, les mostraré mi mano y mi poder y conocerán que mi Nombre es Yahvé.
