Jeremiah 16
1 The worde of the Lord came also vnto mee, saying,
La parola dell’Eterno mi fu rivolta in questi termini:
2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, nor haue sonnes nor daughters in this place.
Non ti prender moglie e non aver figliuoli né figliuole in questo luogo.
3 For thus sayeth the Lord concerning the sonnes, and concerning the daughters that are borne in this place, and concerning their mothers that beare them, and concerning their fathers, that beget them in this land,
Poiché così parla l’Eterno riguardo ai figliuoli e alle figliuole che nascono in questo paese, e alle madri che li partoriscono, e ai padri che li generano in questo paese:
4 They shall die of deathes and diseases: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried, but they shalbe as dung vpon the earth, and they shalbe consumed by the sword, and by famine, and their carkeises shall be meate for the foules of the heauen, and for the beasts of the earth.
Essi morranno consunti dalle malattie, non saranno rimpianti, e non avranno sepoltura; serviranno di letame sulla faccia del suolo; saranno consumati dalla spada e dalla fame, e i loro cadaveri saran pasto agli uccelli del cielo, e alle bestie della terra.
5 For thus saith the Lord, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither goe to lament, nor be moued for the: for I haue taken my peace, from this people, saith the Lord, euen mercy and compassion.
Poiché così parla l’Eterno: Non entrare nella casa del lutto, non andare a far cordoglio con loro né a compiangerli, perché, dice l’Eterno, io ho ritirato da questo popolo la mia pace, la mia benignità, la mia compassione.
6 Both the great, and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them nor cut themselues, nor make themselues balde for them.
Grandi e piccoli morranno in questo paese; non avranno sepoltura, non si farà cordoglio per loro, nessuno si farà incisioni addosso o si raderà per loro;
7 They shall not stretch out the hands for the in the mourning to comfort them for the dead, neither shall they giue them the cup of consolation to drinke for their father or for their mother.
non si romperà per loro il pane del lutto per consolarli d’un morto, e non si offrirà loro a bere la coppa della consolazione per un padre o per una madre.
8 Thou shalt not also goe into the house of feasting to sit with them to eate and to drinke.
Parimente non entrare in alcuna casa di convito per sederti con loro a mangiare ed a bere.
9 For thus sayth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Beholde, I wil cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, euen in your dayes the voyce of myrth, and the voyce of gladnes, the voyce of the bridegrome and the voyce of the bride.
Poiché così parla l’Eterno degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele: Ecco, io farò cessare in questo luogo, davanti ai vostri occhi, ai giorni vostri, il grido di gioia, il grido d’allegrezza, la voce dello sposo e la voce della sposa.
10 And when thou shalt shewe this people all these wordes, and they shall say vnto thee, Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great plague against vs? or what is our iniquitie? and what is our sinne that we haue committed against the Lord our God?
E avverrà che quando tu annunzierai a questo popolo tutte queste cose, essi ti diranno: Perché l’Eterno ha egli pronunziato contro di noi tutta questa grande calamità? Qual è la nostra iniquità? Qual è il peccato che abbiam commesso contro l’Eterno, il nostro Dio?
11 Then shalt thou say vnto them, Because your fathers haue forsaken me, sayth the Lord, and haue walked after other gods, and haue serued them, and worshipped them, and haue forsaken me, and haue not kept my Law,
Allora tu risponderai loro: “Perché i vostri padri m’hanno abbandonato, dice l’Eterno, sono andati dietro ad altri dèi, li hanno serviti e si son prostrati dinanzi a loro, hanno abbandonato me e non hanno osservato la mia legge.
12 (And ye haue done worse then your fathers: for beholde, you walke euery one after the stubbernesse of his wicked heart, and will not heare me)
E voi avete fatto anche peggio de’ vostri padri; perché, ecco, ciascuno cammina seguendo la caparbietà del suo cuore malvagio, per non dare ascolto a me;
13 Therefore will I driue you out of this land into a lande that ye knowe not, neither you, nor your fathers, and there shall ye serue other gods day and night: for I will shew you no grace.
perciò io vi caccerò da questo paese in un paese che né voi né i vostri padri avete conosciuto; e quivi servirete giorno e notte ad altri dèi, perché io non vi farò grazia di sorta”.
14 Behold therfore, saith the Lord, the dayes come that it shall no more be sayde, The Lord liueth, which brought vp the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt,
Perciò, ecco, i giorni vengono, dice l’Eterno, che non si dirà più: “L’Eterno è vivente, egli che trasse i figliuoli d’Israele fuori del paese d’Egitto”,
15 But the Lord liueth, that brought vp the children of Israel from the lande of the North, and from all the landes where hee had scattered them, and I wil bring them againe into their land that I gaue vnto their fathers.
ma: “L’Eterno è vivente, egli che ha tratto i figliuoli d’Israele fuori del paese del settentrione e di tutti gli altri paesi ne’ quali egli li aveva cacciati”; e io li ricondurrò nel loro paese, che avevo dato ai loro padri.
16 Behold, sayth the Lord, I wil send out many fishers, and they shall fish them, and after, will I send out many hunters, and they shall hunt them from euery mountaine and from euery hill, and out of the caues of the rockes.
Ecco, io mando gran numero di pescatori a pescarli, dice l’Eterno; e poi manderò gran numero di cacciatori a dar loro la caccia sopra ogni monte, sopra ogni collina e nelle fessure delle rocce.
17 For mine eyes are vpon al their wayes: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquitie hid from mine eyes.
Poiché i miei occhi sono su tutte le loro vie; esse non sono nascoste d’innanzi alla mia faccia, e la loro iniquità non rimane occulta agli occhi miei.
18 And first I will recompense their iniquitie and their sinne double, because they haue defiled my lande, and haue filled mine inheritance with their filthie carions and their abominations.
E prima darò loro al doppio la retribuzione della loro iniquità e del loro peccato, perché hanno profanato il mio paese, con quei cadaveri che sono i loro idoli esecrandi, ed hanno empito la mia eredità delle loro abominazioni.
19 O Lord, thou art my force, and my strength and my refuge in the day of affliction: the Gentiles shall come vnto thee from the ends of the world, and shall say, Surely our fathers haue inherited lies, and vanitie, wherein was no profite.
O Eterno, mia forza, mia fortezza, e mio rifugio nel giorno della distretta! A te verranno le nazioni dalle estremità della terra, e diranno: “I nostri padri non hanno ereditato che menzogne, vanità, e cose che non giovano a nulla”.
20 Shall a man make gods vnto himselfe, and they are no gods?
L’uomo si farebbe egli degli dèi? Ma già cotesti non sono dèi.
21 Beholde, therefore I will this once teach them: I will shewe them mine hande and my power, and they shall know that my Name is the Lord.
Perciò, ecco, io farò loro conoscere, questa volta farò loro conoscere la mia mano e la mia potenza; e sapranno che il mio nome è l’Eterno.
