Jeremiah 13
1 Thus sayth the Lord vnto mee, Goe, and buy thee a linen girdle, and put it vpon thy loynes, and put it not in water.
COSÌ mi ha detto il Signore: Va', e comperati una cintura lina, e mettitela in su i lombi, e non metterla nell'acqua.
2 So I bought the girdle according to the commandement of the Lord, and put it vpon my loynes.
Io dunque comperai quella cintura, secondo la parola del Signore, e me la misi in su i lombi.
3 And the worde of the Lord came vnto me the second time, saying,
E la parola del Signore mi fu [indirizzata] la seconda volta, dicendo:
4 Take the girdle that thou hast bought, which is vpon thy loynes, and arise, goe towarde Perath, and hide it there in the cleft of the rocke.
Prendi la cintura che tu hai comperata, la quale tu hai in su i lombi, e levati, [e] va' all'Eufrate, e nascondila quivi in una buca di un sasso.
5 So I went, and hid it by Perath, as the Lord had commanded me.
Ed io andai, e la nascosi presso all'Eufrate, siccome il Signore mi avea comandato.
6 And after many dayes, the Lord sayde vnto mee, Arise, goe towarde Perath, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.
E dopo molti giorni, avvenne che il Signore mi disse: Levati, va' all'Eufrate, e togli di là la cintura, che io ti avea comandato di nascondervi.
7 Then went I to Perath, and digged, and tooke the girdle from the place where I had hid it, and behold, the girdle was corrupt, and was profitable for nothing.
Ed io andai all'Eufrate, e cavai, e tolsi la cintura del luogo dove io l'avea nascosta; ed ecco, la cintura era guasta, e non era più buona a nulla.
8 Then the word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
E la parola del Signore mi fu [indirizzata], dicendo:
9 Thus sayth the Lord, After this maner will I destroy the pride of Iudah, and the great pride of Ierusalem.
Così ha detto il Signore: Così guasterò la magnificenza di Giuda, la gran magnificenza di Gerusalemme;
10 This wicked people haue refused to heare my word, and walke after ye stubbernesse of their owne heart, and walke after other gods to serue them, and to worship them: therefore they shalbe as this girdle, which is profitable to nothing.
di questo popolo malva gio, che ricusa di ascoltar le mie parole, che cammina nella durezza del cuor suo, e va dietro ad altri dii, per servirli, e per adorarli; e quella diventerà come questa cintura, che non è [più] buona a nulla.
11 For as the girdle cleaueth to the loynes of a man, so haue I tied to me the whole house of Israel, and the whole house of Iudah, saith the Lord, that they might bee my people: that they might haue a name and prayse, and glory, but they would not heare.
Perciocchè, siccome la cintura è apposta in su i lombi dell'uomo, così io mi avea congiunta tutta la casa d'Israele, e tutta la casa di Giuda, dice il Signore; acciocchè fosse mio popolo, a fama, ed a lode, ed a gloria; ma essi non hanno ubbidito.
12 Therefore thou shalt saye vnto them this word, Thus sayth the Lord God of Israel, Euery bottell shalbe filled with wine, and they shall say vnto thee, Doe we not knowe that euery bottell shalbe filled with wine?
Di' loro adunque questa parola: Così ha detto il Signore, l'Iddio d'Israele: Ogni barile sarà ripieno di vino. Ed essi ti diranno: Non sappiam noi bene, che ogni barile sarà ripieno di vino?
13 Then shalt thou say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, euen the Kings that sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and the Priestes and the Prophets and all the inhabitantes of Ierusalem with drunkennesse.
E tu dirai loro: Così ha detto il Signore: Ecco, io empierò d'ebbrezza tutti gli abitatori di questo paese, ed i re [del legnaggio] di Davide, che seggono sopra il suo trono; ed i sacerdoti, ed i profeti, e tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme.
14 And I wil dash them one against another, euen the fathers and the sonnes together, sayeth the Lord: I will not spare, I will not pitie nor haue compassion, but destroy them.
E li sbatterò l'uno contro all'altro, padri e figliuoli insieme, dice il Signore; io non risparmierò, e non perdonerò, e non avrò pietà, per non distruggerli.
15 Heare and giue eare, be not proude: for the Lord hath spoken it.
Ascoltate, e porgete l'orecchio: Non superbite; perciocchè il Signore ha parlato.
16 Giue glory to the Lord your God before he bring darknes, and or euer your feete stumble in the darke mountaines, and whiles you look for light, he turne it into the shadowe of death and make it as darkenesse.
Date gloria al Signore Iddio vostro, avanti ch'egli faccia venir le tenebre, e avanti che i vostri piedi s'intoppino sopra i monti di oscurità, e che voi aspettiate la luce, e ch'egli l'abbia cangiata in ombra di morte, e mutata in oscurità.
17 But if ye will not heare this, my soule shall weepe in secrete for your pride, and mine eye shall weepe and drop downe teares, because the Lords flocke is caried away captiue.
Che se voi non ascoltate questo, l'anima mia piangerà in segreto, per lo [vostro] orgoglio; e l'occhio mio non resterà di lagrimare, e si struggerà in lagrime; perciocchè la greggia del Signore è menata in cattività.
18 Say vnto the King and to the Queene, Humble yourselues, sit downe, for the crowne of your glory shall come downe from your heads.
Di' al re, ed alla regina: Umiliatevi, e sedete [in terra]; perciocchè il vostro principato, la corona della vostra gloria, è caduta a basso.
19 The cities of the South shall be shut vp, and no man shall open them: all Iudah shall be caried away captiue: it shall be wholy caried away captiue.
Le città del Mezzodì sono serrate, e non [vi è] alcuno che le apra; tutto Giuda è menato in cattività, egli [è] menato in una intiera cattività.
20 Lift vp your eyes and beholde them that come from the North: where is the flocke that was giuen thee, euen thy beautifull flocke?
Alzate gli occhi vostri, e vedete quelli che vengono di Settentrione; dove [è] la mandra [che] ti era stata data, la greggia della tua gloria?
21 What wilt thou saye, when hee shall visite thee? (for thou hast taught them to be captaines and as chiefe ouer thee) shall not sorow take thee as a woman in trauaile?
Che dirai quando egli farà punizion di te? conciossiachè tu stessa abbi loro insegnato ad esser tuoi principi in capo; non ti stringeranno dolori, a guisa di donna che partorisce?
22 And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things vpon me? For the multitude of thine iniquities are thy skirts discouered and thy heeles made bare.
Che se pur dici nel cuor tuo: Perchè mi son avvenute queste cose? Per la grandezza della tua iniquità i tuoi lembi sono stati rimboccati, le tue calcagna sono state calterite.
23 Can the blacke More change his skin? or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do euill.
Potrebbe il moro mutar la sua pelle, o il pardo le sue macchie? potreste altresì voi, assuefatti a far male, far bene?
24 Therefore will I scatter them, as the stubble that is taken away with the South winde.
Io dunque li dispergerò come stoppia, che è trasportata via al [soffiar del] vento del deserto.
25 This is thy portion, and ye part of thy measures from me, sayth the Lord, because thou hast forgotten me and trusted in lyes.
Quest'[è] la tua sorte, la parte delle tue misure, da parte mia, dice il Signore; perciocchè tu mi hai dimenticato, e ti sei confidata in menzogna.
26 Therefore I haue also discouered thy skirts vpon thy face, that thy shame may appeare.
Laonde io altresì ti rimboccherò i tuoi lembi in sul viso, e il tuo vituperio apparirà.
27 I haue seene thine adulteries, and thy neiings, the filthinesse of thy whoredome on the hils in the fieldes, and thine abominations. Wo vnto thee, O Ierusalem: wilt thou not bee made cleane? when shall it once be?
I tuoi adulterii, ed il tuo ringhiare, [e] l'infamia del tuo fornicare, [è stata] sopra i colli, per li campi; io ho vedute le tue abbominazioni. Guai a te, Gerusalemme! non ti netterai tu [mai?] dopo quando ancora?
