Jeremiah 10

1 Heare ye the worde of the Lord that he speaketh vnto you, O house of Israel.

۱ ای خاندان اسرائیل کلامی را که خداوند به شما می‌گوید بشنوید!

2 Thus saith the Lord, Learne not the way of the heathen, and be not afraid for the signes of heauen, though the heathen be afraid of such.

۲ خداوند چنین می‌گوید: «طریق امت‌ها را یادمگیرید و از علامات افلاک مترسید زیرا که امت‌ها از آنها می‌ترسند.

3 For the customes of the people are vaine: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest (which is the worke of the handes of the carpenter) with the axe,

۳ چونکه رسوم قومهاباطل است که ایشان درختی از جنگل با تبرمی برند که صنعت دستهای نجار می‌باشد.

4 And another decketh it with siluer, and with golde: they fasten it with nailes, and hammers, that it fall not.

۴ و آن را به نقره و طلا زینت داده، با میخ و چکش محکم می‌کنند تا متحرک نشود.

5 The idoles stande vp as the palme tree, but speake not: they are borne because they cannot go feare them not, for they cannot do euill, neither can they do good.

۵ و آنها مثل مترس دربوستان خیار می‌باشند که سخن نمی توانند گفت وآنها را می‌باید برداشت چونکه راه نمی توانندرفت. از آنها مترسید زیرا که ضرر نتوانند رسانیدو قوت نفع رسانیدن هم ندارند.»

6 There is none like vnto thee, O Lord: thou art great, and thy name is great in power.

۶ ‌ای یهوه مثل تو کسی نیست! تو عظیم هستی و اسم تو در قوت عظیم است!

7 Who would not feare thee, O King of nations? for to thee appertaineth the dominion: for among all the wise men of the Gentiles, and in al their kingdomes there is none like thee.

۷ ‌ای پادشاه امت هاکیست که از تو نترسد زیرا که این به تو می‌شایدچونکه در جمیع حکیمان امت‌ها و در تمامی ممالک ایشان مانند تو کسی نیست.

8 But, altogether they dote, and are foolish: for the stocke is a doctrine of vanitie.

۸ جمیع ایشان وحشی و احمق می‌باشند تادیب اباطیل چوب (بت ) است.

9 Siluer plates are brought from Tarshish, and golde from Vphaz, for the worke of the workeman, and the handes of the founder: the blewe silke, and the purple is their clothing: all these things are made by cunning men.

۹ نقره کوبیده شده از ترشیش و طلا از اوفاز که صنعت صنعتگر و عمل دستهای زرگر باشد می‌آورند. لاجورد و ارغوان لباس آنها و همه اینها عمل حکمت پیشگان است.

10 But the Lord is the God of trueth: he is the liuing God, and an euerlasting King: at his anger the earth shall tremble, and the nations cannot abide his wrath.

۱۰ اما یهوه خدای حق است و او خدای حی و پادشاه سرمدی می‌باشد. از غضب او زمین متزلزل می‌شود و امت‌ها قهر او را متحمل نتوانندشد.

11 (Thus shall you say vnto them, The gods that haue not made the heauens and the earth, shall perish from the earth, and from vnder these heauens)

۱۱ به ایشان چنین بگویید: «خدایانی که آسمان و زمین را نساخته‌اند از روی زمین و از زیرآسمان تلف خواهند شد.»

12 He hath made the earth by his power, and established the worlde by his wisedome, and hath stretched out the heauen by his discretion.

۱۲ او زمین را به قوت خود ساخت و ربع مسکون را به حکمت خویش استوار نمود وآسمان را به عقل خود گسترانید.

13 Hee giueth by his voyce the multitude of waters in the heauen, and he causeth the cloudes to ascend from the endes of the earth: he turneth lightnings to rayne, and bringeth forth the winde out of his treasures.

۱۳ چون آوازمی دهد غوغای آبها در آسمان پدید می‌آید. ابرها از اقصای زمین برمی آورد و برقها برای باران می‌سازد و باد را از خزانه های خود بیرون می‌آورد.

14 Euery man is a beast by his owne knowledge: euery founder is confounded by the grauen image: for his melting is but falsehood, and there is no breath therein.

۱۴ جمیع مردمان وحشی‌اند و معرفت ندارند و هر‌که تمثالی می‌سازد خجل خواهدشد. زیرا که بت ریخته شده او دروغ است و در آن هیچ نفس نیست.

15 They are vanitie, and the worke of errours: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

۱۵ آنها باطل و کار مسخرگی می‌باشد در روزی که به محاکمه می‌آیند تلف خواهند شد.

16 The portion of Iaakob is not like them: for he is the maker of all things, and Israel is the rodde of his inheritance: the Lord of hostes is his Name.

۱۶ او که نصیب یعقوب است مثل آنها نمی باشد. زیرا که او سازنده همه موجودات است و اسرائیل عصای میراث وی است و اسم اویهوه صبایوت می‌باشد.

17 Gather vp thy wares out of the land, O thou that dwellest in the strong place.

۱۷ ‌ای که در تنگی ساکن هستی، بسته خود رااز زمین بردار!

18 For thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, at this time I will throwe as with a sling the inhabitants of the lande, and will trouble them, and they shall finde it so.

۱۸ زیرا خداوند چنین می‌گوید: «اینک من این مرتبه ساکنان این زمین را از فلاخن خواهم‌انداخت و ایشان را به تنگ خواهم آورد تابفهمند.»

19 Wo is me for my destruction, and my grieuous plague: but I thought, Yet it is my sorow, and I will beare it.

۱۹ وای بر من به‌سبب صدمه من.

20 My tabernacle is destroyed, and all my coardes are broken: my children are gone from me, and are not: there is none to spread out my tent any more, and to set vp my curtaines.

۲۰ خیمه من خراب شد و تمامی طنابهای من گسیخته گردید، پسرانم از من بیرون رفته، نایاب شدند. کسی نیست که خیمه مرا پهن کند و پرده های مرابرپا نماید.

21 For the Pastours are become beasts, and haue not sought the Lord: therefore haue they none vnderstanding: and all the flockes of their pastures are scattered.

۲۱ زیرا که شبانان وحشی شده‌اند وخداوند را طلب نمی نمایند بنابراین کامیاب نخواهند شد و همه گله های ایشان پراکنده خواهد گردید.

22 Beholde, the noyse of the brute is come, and a great commotion out of the North countrey to make the cities of Iudah desolate, and a denne of dragons.

۲۲ اینک صدای خبری می‌آید واضطراب عظیمی از دیار شمال. تا شهرهای یهودا را ویران و ماوای شغالها سازد.

23 O Lord, I knowe, that the way of man is not in himselfe, neyther is it in man to walke and to direct his steps.

۲۳ ‌ای خداوند می‌دانم که طریق انسان از آن اونیست و آدمی که راه می‌رود قادر بر هدایت قدمهای خویش نمی باشد.

24 O Lord, correct mee, but with iudgement, not in thine anger, least thou bring mee to nothing.

۲۴ ‌ای خداوند مراتادیب نما اما به انصاف و نه به غضب خود مبادامرا ذلیل سازی.

25 Powre out thy wrath vpon the heathen, that knowe thee not, and vpon the families that call not on thy Name: for they haue eaten vp Iaakob and deuoured him and consumed him, and haue made his habitation desolate.

۲۵ غضب خویش را بر امت هایی که تو را نمی شناسند بریز. و بر قبیله هایی که اسم تو را نمی خوانند، زیرا که ایشان یعقوب راخوردند و او را بلعیده، تباه ساختند و مسکن او راخراب نمودند.
