Jeremiah 1
1 The wordes of Ieremiah the sonne of Hilkiah one of the Priests that were at Anathoth in the lande of Beniamin.
Parole de Dieu à Jérémie, fils d'Helcias, l'un des prêtres qui demeurèrent à Anathoth, en la terre de Benjamin.
2 To whom the worde of the Lord came in the dayes of Iosiah the sonne of Amon King of Iudah in the thirteenth yeere of his reigne:
La parole du Seigneur vint à lui dans les jours de Josias, fils d'Amon, roi de Juda, la treizième année de son règne;
3 And also in the dayes of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah vnto the ende of the eleuenth yeere of Zedekiah, the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah, euen vnto the carying away of Ierusalem captiue in the fift moneth.
Elle lui vint encore dans les jours de Joacim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, jusqu'à la onzième année de Sédécias, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, jusqu'à la captivité de Jérusalem, le cinquième mois.
4 Then the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,
Et la parole du Seigneur vint à lui:
5 Before I formed thee in the wombe, I knewe thee, and before thou camest out of the wombe, I sanctified thee, and ordeined thee to be a Prophet vnto the nations.
Avant de te former en des entrailles, je te connaissais, et avant que tu sortisses du sein de ta mère, je t'avais sanctifié; et je t'ai fait prophète pour les nations.
6 Then said I, Oh, Lord God, behold, I can not speake, for I am a childe.
Et je répondis: O vous qui êtes, Seigneur Dieu, voilà que je ne sais parler; car je ne suis qu'un enfant.
7 But the Lord said vnto me, Say not, I am a childe: for thou shalt goe to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoeuer I command thee, shalt thou speake.
Et le Seigneur me répondit: Ne dis pas, Je suis un enfant; car vers tous ceux à qui je t'enverrai, tu iras; et tout ce que je t'aurai commandé, tu le leur diras.
8 Be not afraide of their faces: for I am with thee to deliuer thee, saith the Lord.
Ne crains pas en leur présence, parce que je suis avec toi pour te sauver, dit le Seigneur.
9 Then the Lord stretched out his hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said vnto me, Beholde, I haue put my wordes in thy mouth.
Et le Seigneur étendit la main et il me toucha la bouche, et le Seigneur me dit: Voilà que j'ai mis mes paroles en ta bouche.
10 Beholde, this day haue I set thee ouer the nations and ouer the kingdomes to plucke vp, and to roote out, and to destroye and throwe downe, to builde, and to plant.
Voilà que je t'ai aujourd'hui institué sur les nations et sur les royaumes, pour déraciner, détruire, perdre, dissiper, réédifier et planter.
11 After this the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying, Ieremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almonde tree.
Et la parole du Seigneur vint à moi, disant: Que vois-tu? Et je répondis: Je vois une verge de coudrier.
12 Then saide the Lord vnto me, Thou hast seene aright: for I will hasten my worde to performe it.
Et le Seigneur me dit: Tu as bien vu; car je veillerai sur mes paroles pour les accomplir.
13 Againe the worde of the Lord came vnto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I saide, I see a seething pot looking out of the North.
Et la parole du Seigneur vint à moi de nouveau, disant: Que vois-tu? Et je répondis: Je vois une chaudière chauffée en dessous, et sa face est du côté de l'aquilon.
14 Then saide the Lord vnto me, Out of the North shall a plague be spred vpon all the inhabitants of the land.
Et le Seigneur reprit: C'est de l'aquilon que s'allumeront les maux sur tous ceux qui habitent la terre de l'aquilon.
15 For loe, I will call all the families of the kingdomes of the North, saith the Lord, and they shall come, and euery one shall set his throne in the entring of the gates of Ierusalem, and on all the walles thereof rounde about, and in all the cities of Iudah.
Car voilà que je convoquerai tous les royaumes de la terre, dit le Seigneur. Et ils viendront, et chaque roi placera son trône à l'entrée des portes de Jérusalem, et sur ses remparts, et dans son enceinte, et sur toutes les villes de Juda.
16 And I will declare vnto them my iudgements touching all the wickednesse of them that haue forsaken me, and haue burnt incense vnto other gods, and worshipped the workes of their owne handes.
Et je prononcerai mon jugement sur mon peuple au sujet de toutes les iniquités; car ils m'ont abandonné, ils ont sacrifié à des dieux étrangers, et ils ont adoré les œuvres de leurs mains.
17 Thou therefore trusse vp thy loynes, and arise and speake vnto them all that I commaund thee: be not afraide of their faces, lest I destroy thee before them.
Et toi, ceins-toi les reins, et lève-toi, et dis-leur toutes les choses que je te commanderai; n'aie point peur de leur face, ne tremble pas devant eux, car je suis avec toi pour te sauver, dit le Seigneur.
18 For I, beholde, I this day haue made thee a defenced citie, and an yron pillar and walles of brasse against the whole lande, against the Kings of Iudah, and against the princes thereof, against the Priestes thereof and against the people of the lande.
Voilà que je t'ai établi aujourd'hui comme une ville forte, une colonne de fer et un mur d'airain, contre les rois de Juda et ses princes, et le peuple de cette terre.
19 For they shall fight against thee, but they shall not preuaile against thee: for I am with thee to deliuer thee, sayth the Lord.
Et ils t'attaqueront, mais ne prévaudront point sur toi; car je suis avec toi pour te sauver, dit le Seigneur.
