< James 4 >

1 From whence are warres and contentions among you? are they not hence, euen of your pleasures, that fight in your members?
¿Jawjeꞌ kape wi ri nim taq chꞌoꞌj xuqujeꞌ ri nitzꞌ taq chꞌoꞌj ri kakꞌulmataj chiꞌxoꞌl? ¿La man kꞌu kakꞌulmataj wa rumal ri itzel taq rayinik ri kꞌo pa iwanimaꞌ?
2 Ye lust, and haue not: ye enuie, and desire immoderately, and cannot obtaine: ye fight and warre, and get nothing, because ye aske not.
Man kixkwin taj chuloqꞌik ri jastaq ri kirayij, kixkamisanik rumal ri tiꞌtatem ri kꞌo chiꞌwe. Kixkꞌankꞌatik rumal riꞌ kixchꞌoꞌjinik. Maj kꞌo iwukꞌ rumal man kitata che ri Dios.
3 Ye aske, and receiue not, because ye aske amisse, that ye might lay the same out on your pleasures.
Man kayaꞌtaj taj ri jastaq ri kito rumal che etzelal kikoj wi, xaq rech ri itzel taq irayinik.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, knowe ye not that the amitie of the world is the enimitie of God? Whosoeuer therefore will be a friend of the world, maketh himselfe the enemie of God.
¡Winaq ri man utz ta iwanimaꞌ rukꞌ ri Dios! ¿La man iwetaꞌm chi ri keꞌ ranimaꞌ rukꞌ ri jastaq rech uwachulew kubꞌan ukꞌulel riꞌ che ri Dios? Xapachin ri keꞌ ukꞌuꞌx rukꞌ ri jastaq rech uwachulew kubꞌan ukꞌulel che ri Dios.
5 Doe ye thinke that the Scripture sayeth in vaine, The spirit that dwelleth in vs, lusteth after enuie?
¿Teꞌq pikꞌuꞌx chi xaq bꞌanoj tzij ri kubꞌij ri utzij ri Dios are kubꞌij chi sibꞌalaj kuloqꞌaj ri Uxlabꞌixel ri kꞌo pa qanimaꞌ?
6 But the Scripture offereth more grace, and therefore sayth, God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble.
Ri Dios pa ri utoqꞌobꞌ kujutoꞌo. Rumal riꞌ kubꞌij pa ri tzꞌibꞌatalik: Ri Dios man kuꞌkꞌamawaꞌj taj ri nimal kakinaꞌo, xaq xwi nim keꞌrilo ri kakimochꞌ kibꞌ.
7 Submit your selues to God: resist the deuill, and he will flee from you.
Chimochꞌo iwibꞌ choch ri Dios, rech kixukꞌamawaꞌj. Man kiya ta bꞌe che ri Itzel kok chiꞌwe xaq jeriꞌ kanimaj bꞌik.
8 Drawe neere to God, and he will drawe neere to you. Clense your handes, ye sinners, and purge your hearts, ye double minded.
Chixqebꞌ rukꞌ ri Dios rech kaqet are iwukꞌ. ¡Aꞌjmakibꞌ chichꞌajchꞌobꞌej iwibꞌ! Ri man qas tzij taj ix kꞌolik, chichꞌajchꞌobꞌej ri iwanimaꞌ.
9 Suffer afflictions, and sorrowe ye, and weepe: let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your ioy into heauinesse.
Chikꞌamawaꞌj uqꞌabꞌ chi maj kꞌo iwukꞌ, chixoqꞌoq, kꞌax chinaꞌ. Chikꞌexa ri itzeꞌ pa oqꞌej xuqujeꞌ ri ikiꞌkotemal pa bꞌis.
10 Cast downe your selues before the Lord, and he will lift you vp.
Chimochꞌo iwibꞌ cho ri Dios rech kuya na iqꞌij.
11 Speake not euill one of another, brethren. He that speaketh euill of his brother, or he that condemneth his brother, speaketh euill of ye Law, and condemneth the Lawe: and if thou condemnest the Lawe, thou art not an obseruer of the Lawe, but a iudge.
Qachalal, mibꞌij kꞌax chibꞌil taq iwibꞌ. We kꞌo jun itzel katzijon che ri rachalal, o wine kuqꞌat tzij puꞌwiꞌ, tajin karetzelaj riꞌ ri taqanik, man tajin ta kunimaj riꞌ ri taqanik xane tajin karesaj uwach ri qꞌatal tzij.
12 There is one Lawgiuer, which is able to saue, and to destroy. Who art thou that iudgest another man?
Xa jun ri Dios qꞌatal tzij, ri kakwinik kakolonik xuqujeꞌ kubꞌan kꞌax. Are kꞌu ri at, ¿jachin jun jeꞌ kanaꞌo cher kaqꞌat tzij puꞌwiꞌ ri ajil tzꞌaqat?
13 Goe to now ye that say, To day or to morowe we will goe into such a citie, and continue there a yeere, and bye and sell, and get gaine,
Chitampe ri kinbꞌij, ix kibꞌij kamik kujeꞌ pa we jun tinimit riꞌ, kujkꞌojiꞌk jun junabꞌ chilaꞌ, kaqabꞌan qakꞌay rech kaqachꞌek qarajil.
14 (And yet ye cannot tell what shalbe to morowe. For what is your life? It is euen a vapour that appeareth for a litle time, and afterward vanisheth away)
¡Man ne iwetaꞌm taj jas ri kakꞌulmataj chweꞌq! ¿La iwetaꞌm jas rukꞌ kajunumataj wi ri ikꞌaslemal? Jer ix kꞌo ri sutzꞌ xaq kꞌa te kukꞌut qꞌanoq ribꞌ xuqujeꞌ xaq kꞌa teꞌ kasachik.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, and, if we liue, we will doe this or that.
Ri qas rajawaxik kibꞌij are: we karaj ri Ajawxel kujkꞌasiꞌk, kujkꞌasiꞌ waꞌ rech kaqabꞌano ri qachomam ubꞌanik.
16 But now ye reioyce in your boastings: all such reioycing is euill.
Man je ta kꞌu riꞌ tajin kibꞌano, kinaꞌ nimal che taq ri iwetzelal, man utz ta kꞌut unaꞌik nimal.
17 Therefore, to him that knoweth how to doe well, and doeth it not, to him it is sinne.
Xaq jeriꞌ xapachin ri retaꞌm ubꞌanik utzilal kꞌa te riꞌ man kuchakubꞌej taj, kamakunik.
