James 3
1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receiue the greater condemnation.
Hermanos míos, no haya tantos entre vosotros que pretendan ser maestros, sabiendo que así nos acarreamos un juicio más riguroso;
2 For in many things we sinne all. If any man sinne not in word, he is a perfect man, and able to bridle all the body.
pues todos tropezamos en muchas cosas. Si alguno no tropieza en el hablar, es hombre perfecto, capaz de refrenar también el cuerpo entero.
3 Beholde, we put bittes into the horses mouthes, that they should obey vs, and we turne about all their bodie.
Si a los caballos, para que nos obedezcan ponemos frenos en la boca, manejamos también todo su cuerpo.
4 Behold also the shippes, which though they be so great, and are driuen of fierce windes, yet are they turned about with a very small rudder, whither soeuer the gouernour listeth.
Ved igualmente cómo, con un pequeñísimo timón, las naves, tan grandes e impelidas de vientos impetuosos, son dirigidas a voluntad del piloto.
5 Euen so the tongue is a litle member, and boasteth of great things: beholde, howe great a thing a litle fire kindleth.
Así también la lengua es un miembro pequeño, pero se jacta de grandes cosas. Mirad cuán pequeño es el fuego que incendia un bosque tan grande.
6 And the tongue is fire, yea, a worlde of wickednesse: so is the tongue set among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire of hell. (Geenna g1067)
También la lengua es fuego: es el mundo de la iniquidad. Puesta en medio de nuestros miembros, la lengua es la que contamina todo el cuerpo, e inflama la rueda de la vida, siendo ella a su vez inflamada por el infierno. (Geenna g1067)
7 For the whole nature of beasts, and of birds, and of creeping things, and things of the sea is tamed, and hath bene tamed of the nature of man.
Todo género de fieras, de aves, de reptiles y de animales marinos se doma y se amansa por el género humano;
8 But the tongue can no man tame. It is an vnruly euill, full of deadly poyson.
pero no hay hombre que pueda domar la lengua: incontenible azote, llena está de veneno mortífero.
9 Therewith blesse we God euen the Father, and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Con ella bendecimos al Señor y Padre, y con ella maldecimos a los hombres, hechos a semejanza de Dios.
10 Out of one mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing: my brethren, these things ought not so to be.
De una misma boca salen bendición y maldición. No debe, hermanos, ser así.
11 Doeth a fountaine send forth at one place sweete water and bitter?
¿Acaso la fuente mana por la misma vertiente agua dulce y amarga?
12 Can ye figge tree, my brethren, bring forth oliues, either a vine figges? so can no fountaine make both salt water and sweete.
¿Puede, hermanos míos, la higuera dar aceitunas, o higos la vid? Así tampoco la fuente salada puede dar agua dulce.
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew by good conuersation his workes in meekenesse of wisdome.
¿Hay alguno entre vosotros sabio y entendido? Muestre sus obras por la buena conducta con la mansedumbre ( que es propia ) de la sabiduría.
14 But if ye haue bitter enuying and strife in your hearts, reioyce not, neither be liars against the trueth.
Pero si tenéis en vuestros corazones amargos celos y espíritu de contienda, no os gloriéis al menos, ni mintáis contra la verdad.
15 This wisedome descendeth not from aboue, but is earthly, sensuall, and deuilish.
No es esa la sabiduría que desciende de lo alto, sino terrena, animal, diabólica.
16 For where enuying and strife is, there is sedition, and all maner of euill workes.
Porque donde hay celos y contiendas, allí hay desorden y toda clase de villanía.
17 But the wisedome that is from aboue, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easie to be intreated, full of mercie and good fruites, without iudging, and without hipocrisie.
Mas la sabiduría de lo alto es ante todo pura, luego pacífica, indulgente, dócil, llena de misericordia y de buenos frutos, sin parcialidad, sin hipocresía.
18 And the fruite of righteousnesse is sowen in peace, of them that make peace.
Fruto de justicia, ella se siembra en paz, para bien de los que siembran la paz.
