Isaiah 9
1 Yet the darkenesse shall not be according to the affliction that it had when at the first hee touched lightly the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, nor afteward when he was more grieuous by the way of the sea beyond Iorden in Galile of the Gentiles.
Aun así, no habrá más oscuridad para los que sufrieron. En el pasado humilló a la tierra de Zabulón y a la tierra de Neftalí, pero en el futuro dará honor a la Galilea de los extranjeros que está en la ruta que va del Jordán al mar.
2 The people that walked in darkenes haue seene a great light: they that dwelled in the land of the shadowe of death, vpon them hath the light shined.
El pueblo que camina en la oscuridad verá una luz brillante; una luz brillará sobre los que viven en una tierra de total oscuridad.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased their ioye: they haue reioyced before thee according to the ioye in haruest, and as men reioyce when they deuide a spoyle.
Hará que la nación crezca enormemente y la hará extremadamente feliz. El pueblo festejará ante ti como festejan los pueblos en la época de la cosecha, como festejan los soldados al repartir el botín.
4 For the yoke of their burthen, and the staffe of their shoulder and the rod of their oppressour hast thou broken as in the day of Midian.
Porque romperás el yugo que los agobia, la barra sobre sus hombros y la vara de los opresores que los golpean, como hiciste cuando derrotaste al ejército madianita.
5 Surely euery battell of the warriour is with noyse, and with tumbling of garments in blood: but this shall be with burning and deuouring of fire.
Porque toda bota del ejército que pisoteó ruidosamente a la gente, y todo uniforme empapado en sangre, será quemado, serán combustible para el fuego.
6 For vnto vs a childe is borne, and vnto vs a Sonne is giuen: and the gouernement is vpon his shoulder, and he shall call his name Wonderfull, Counseller, The mightie God, The euerlasting Father, The prince of peace,
Porque nos nacerá un niño, se nos dará un hijo. Él llevará la responsabilidad de gobernar. Se llamará Consejero maravilloso, Dios poderoso, Padre eterno, Príncipe de la paz.
7 The increase of his gouernement and peace shall haue none end: he shall sit vpon the throne of Dauid, and vpon his kingdome, to order it, and to stablish it with iudgement and with iustice, from hencefoorth, euen for euer: the zeale of the Lord of hostes will performe this.
Su gobierno y la paz que trae no conocen límites y nunca llegarán a su fin. Se sentará en el trono de David y gobernará su reino, haciéndolo seguro. Actuará con principios de justicia y bondad, desde el momento en que comience su gobierno y por toda la eternidad. El Señor Todopoderoso está decidido a que esto ocurra.
8 The Lord hath sent a worde into Iaakob, and it hath lighted vpon Israel.
El Señor ha enviado un mensaje dirigido a Jacob, y sus consecuencias caerán sobre Israel.
9 And all the people shall knowe, euen Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and presumption of the heart,
Todo el pueblo se dará cuenta pronto: Efraín y los pueblos que viven en Samaria. Con orgullo y arrogancia dicen:
10 The brickes are fallen, but we will build it with hewen stones: the wilde figge trees are cut downe, but we will change them into ceders.
“Los edificios de ladrillo se han derrumbado, pero los reconstruiremos con piedra labrada; las higueras de sicómoro han sido cortadas, pero las reemplazaremos con cedros”.
11 Neuerthelesse the Lord will raise vp the aduersaries of Rezin against him, and ioyne his enemies together.
Pero el Señor ha fortalecido a los enemigos de Rezín contra Israel y los ha alentado.
12 Aram before and the Philistims behinde, and they shall deuoure Israel with open mouth: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Los arameos del este y los filisteos del oeste han devorado con avidez a Israel. En todo esto sigue enojado y su mano sigue levantada.
13 For the people turneth not vnto him that smiteth them, neither doe they seeke the Lord of hostes.
Pero el pueblo no volvió al que lo castigó; no vino a adorar al Señor Todopoderoso.
14 Therefore will the Lord cut off from Israel head and taile, branche and rush in one day.
Así que en un solo día el Señor le cortará a Israel la cabeza y la cola, las palma y los juncos.
15 The ancient and the honorable man, he is the head: and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the taile.
Los ancianos y la gente honrada son la cabeza, y los profetas que enseñan la mentira son la cola.
16 For the leaders of the people cause them to erre: and they that are led by them are deuoured.
Los líderes del pueblo los han engañado; los que se guiaban por ellos están confundidos.
17 Therefore shall the Lord haue no pleasure in their yong men, neither will he haue compassion of their fatherlesse and of their widowes: for euery one is an hypocrite and wicked, and euery mouth speaketh follie: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out stil.
Por eso el Señor no está contento con sus jóvenes, no tiene compasión de sus huérfanos y viudas, porque todos ellos son hipócritas y hacen el mal: todos hablan con necedad. Por todo esto él sigue enojado y su mano permanece alzada.
18 For wickednesse burneth as a fire: it deuoureth the briers and the thornes and will kindle in the thicke places of the forest: and they shall mount vp like the lifting vp of smoke.
Porque la maldad arde como un fuego, quemando zarzas y espinas, incendiando el bosque y enviando una columna de humo que se eleva.
19 By the wrath of the Lord of hostes shall the land be darkened, and the people shall be as the meate of ye fire: no man shall spare his brother.
La ira del Señor Todopoderoso quema la tierra. El pueblo es como combustible para el fuego, y nadie trata de ayudar a nadie.
20 And he shall snatch at the right hand, and be hungrie: and he shall eate on the left hand, and shall not be satisfied: euery one shall eate ye flesh of his owne arme.
La gente destruye a los que están a su diestra, pero siguen teniendo hambre de más; luego destruyen a los que están a su siniestra, pero siguen sin estar satisfechos. Al final incluso se destruyen a sí mismos!
21 Manasseh, Ephraim: and Ephraim Manasseh, and they both shall be against Iudah yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
Manasés destruye a Efraín, y Efraín destruye a Manasés. Juntos se vuelven para destruir a Judá. En todo esto él sigue enojado y su mano sigue alzada.
