Isaiah 7

1 And in the dayes of Ahaz, the sonne of Iotham, the sonne of Vzziah king of Iudah, Rezin the King of Aram came vp, and Pekah the sonne of Remaliah King of Israel, to Ierusalem to fight against it, but he could not ouercome it.

Och i Ahas', Jotams sons, Ussias sons, Juda konungs, tid hände sig att Resin, konungen i Aram, och Peka, Remaljas son, Israels konung, drogo upp mot Jerusalem för att erövra det (vilket de likväl icke förmådde göra).

2 And it was tolde the house of Dauid, saying, Aram is ioyned with Ephraim: therefore his heart was moued, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moued by the winde.

Och när det blev berättat för Davids hus att araméerna hade lägrat sig i Efraim, då skälvde hans och hans folks hjärtan, såsom skogens träd skälva för vinden.

3 Then sayde the Lord vnto Isaiah, Goe foorth nowe to meete Ahaz (thou and Sheariashub thy sonne) at the ende of the conduit of the vpper poole, in the path of the fullers fielde,

Men HERREN sade till Jesaja: "Gå åstad med din son Sear-Jasub och möt Ahas vid ändan av Övre dammens vattenledning, på vägen till Valkarfältet,

4 And say vnto him, Take heede, and be still: feare not, neither be faint hearted for the two tailes of these smoking firebrands, for the furious wrath of Rezin and of Aram, and of Remaliahs sonne:

och säg till honom: Tag dig till vara och håll dig stilla; frukta icke och var icke försagd i ditt hjärta för dessa två rykande brandstumpar, för Resin med araméerna och för Remaljas son, i deras förgrymmelse.

5 Because Aram hath taken wicked counsell against thee, and Ephraim, and Remaliahs sonne, saying,

Eftersom Aram med Efraim och Remaljas son hava gjort upp onda planer mot dig och sagt:

6 Let vs goe vp against Iudah, and let vs waken them vp, and make a breach therein for vs, and set a King in the mids thereof, euen the sonne of Tabeal.

'Vi vilja draga upp mot Juda och slå det med skräck och erövra det åt oss och göra Tabals son till konung där',

7 Thus sayth the Lord God, It shall not stand, neither shall it be.

därför säger Herren, HERREN: Det skall icke lyckas, det skall icke ske.

8 For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin: and within fiue and threescore yeere, Ephraim shalbe destroyed from being a people.

Ty Damaskus är Arams huvud, och Resin är Damaskus' huvud; och om sextiofem år skall Efraim vara krossat, så att det icke mer är ett folk.

9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliahs sonne. If ye beleeue not, surely ye shall not be established.

Och Samaria är Efraims huvud, och Remaljas son är Samarias huvud. Om I icke haven tro, skolen I icke hava ro."

10 And the Lord spake againe vnto Ahaz, saying,

Och HERREN talade ytterligare till Ahas och sade:

11 Aske a signe for thee of the Lord thy God: aske it, either in the depth beneath or in the height aboue. (Sheol h7585)

"Begär ett tecken från HERREN, din Gud; du må begära det vare sig nedifrån djupet eller uppifrån höjden." (Sheol h7585)

12 But Ahaz sayd, I wil not aske, neither will I tempt the Lord.

Men Ahas svarade: "Jag begär intet, jag vill icke fresta HERREN."

13 Then he sayd, Heare you nowe, O house of Dauid, Is it a small thing for you to grieue men, that ye will also grieue my God?

Då sade han: "Så hören då, I av Davids hus: Är det eder icke nog att I sätten människors tålamod på prov? Viljen I ock pröva min Guds tålamod?

14 Therefore the Lord himselfe will giue you a signe. Beholde, the virgine shall conceiue and beare a sonne, and she shall call his name Immanu-el.

Så skall då Herren själv giva eder ett tecken: Se, den unga kvinnan skall varda havande och föda en son, och hon skall giva honom namnet Immanuel.

15 Butter and hony shall he eate, till he haue knowledge to refuse the euill, and to chuse the good.

Gräddmjölk och honung skall bliva hans mat inemot den tid då han förstår att förkasta vad ont är och utvälja vad gott är.

16 For afore the childe shall haue knowledge to eschew the euill, and to chuse the good, the land, that thou abhorrest, shalbe forsaken of both her Kings.

Ty innan gossen förstår att förkasta vad ont är och utvälja vad gott är, skall det land för vars båda konungar du gruvar dig vara öde.

17 The Lord shall bring vpon thee, and vpon thy people, and vpon thy fathers house (the dayes that haue not come from the day that Ephraim departed from Iudah) euen the King of Asshur.

Och över dig och över ditt folk och över din faders hus skall HERREN låta dagar komma, sådana som icke hava kommit allt ifrån den tid då Efraim skilde sig från Juda: konungen i Assyrien.

18 And in that day shall the Lord hisse for the flie that is at the vttermost part of the floods of Egypt, and for the bee which is in the lande of Asshur,

Ty på den tiden skall HERREN locka på flugorna längst borta vid Egyptens strömmar och på bisvärmarna i Assyriens land;

19 And they shall come and shall light all in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rockes, and vpon all thorny places, and vpon all bushy places.

och de skola komma och slå ned, alla tillhopa, i bergsdälder och stenklyftor, i alla törnsnår och på alla betesmarker.

20 In that day shall the Lord shaue with a rasor that is hired, euen by them beyond the Riuer, by the King of Asshur, the head and the heare of the feete, and it shall consume the beard.

På den tiden skall HERREN med en rakkniv som tingas på andra sidan floden -- nämligen med konungen i Assyrien -- raka av allt hår både på huvudet och nedtill; ja, också skägget skall den taga bort.

21 And in the same day shall a man nourish a yong kow, and two sheepe.

På den tiden skall en kviga och två tackor vara vad en man föder upp.

22 And for the abundance of milke, that they shall giue, hee shall eate butter: for butter and hony shall euery one eate, which is left within the land.

Men han skall få mjölk i sådan myckenhet att han kan leva av gräddmjölk; ja, alla som finnas kvar i landet skola leva av gräddmjölk och honung.

23 And at the same day euery place, wherein shalbe a thousand vines, shalbe at a thousand pieces of siluer: so it shalbe for the briers and for the thornes.

Och det skall ske på den tiden, att där nu tusen vinträd stå, värda tusen siklar silver, där skall överallt växa tistel och törne.

24 With arrowes and with bowe shall one come thither: because all the land shall be briers and thornes.

Med pilar och båge skall man gå dit, ty hela landet skall vara tistel och törne.

25 But on all the mountaines, which shalbe digged with the mattocke, there shall not come thither the feare of briers and thornes: but they shalbe for the sending out of bullocks, and for the treading of sheepe.

Och alla de berg där man nu arbetar med hackan, dem skall man ej mer beträda, av fruktan för tistel och törne; de skola bliva platser dit oxar drivas, och marker som trampas ned av får."
