Isaiah 7
1 And in the dayes of Ahaz, the sonne of Iotham, the sonne of Vzziah king of Iudah, Rezin the King of Aram came vp, and Pekah the sonne of Remaliah King of Israel, to Ierusalem to fight against it, but he could not ouercome it.
Et il arriva, dans les jours d’Achaz, fils de Jotham, fils d’Ozias, roi de Juda, que Retsin, roi de Syrie, et Pékakh, fils de Remalia, roi d’Israël, montèrent à Jérusalem pour lui faire la guerre; mais ils ne purent pas l’assiéger.
2 And it was tolde the house of Dauid, saying, Aram is ioyned with Ephraim: therefore his heart was moued, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest are moued by the winde.
Et on rapporta à la maison de David, disant: La Syrie est venue prêter appui à Éphraïm. Et son cœur fut agité, et le cœur de son peuple, comme les arbres de la forêt sont agités devant le vent.
3 Then sayde the Lord vnto Isaiah, Goe foorth nowe to meete Ahaz (thou and Sheariashub thy sonne) at the ende of the conduit of the vpper poole, in the path of the fullers fielde,
Et l’Éternel dit à Ésaïe: Sors à la rencontre d’Achaz, toi et Shear-Jashub, ton fils, au bout de l’aqueduc de l’étang supérieur, sur la route du champ du foulon;
4 And say vnto him, Take heede, and be still: feare not, neither be faint hearted for the two tailes of these smoking firebrands, for the furious wrath of Rezin and of Aram, and of Remaliahs sonne:
et tu lui diras: Prends garde et sois tranquille; ne crains point, et que ton cœur ne défaille pas devant ces deux bouts de tisons fumants, devant l’ardeur de la colère de Retsin et de la Syrie, et du fils de Remalia.
5 Because Aram hath taken wicked counsell against thee, and Ephraim, and Remaliahs sonne, saying,
Parce que la Syrie a formé contre toi de mauvais desseins, Éphraïm [aussi] et le fils de Remalia, disant:
6 Let vs goe vp against Iudah, and let vs waken them vp, and make a breach therein for vs, and set a King in the mids thereof, euen the sonne of Tabeal.
Montons contre Juda, et jetons-y l’alarme, et faisons-y pour nous une brèche, et établissons pour roi au milieu d’elle le fils de Tabeël;
7 Thus sayth the Lord God, It shall not stand, neither shall it be.
ainsi dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Il ne s’accomplira pas et n’aura pas lieu;
8 For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin: and within fiue and threescore yeere, Ephraim shalbe destroyed from being a people.
car le chef de la Syrie, c’est Damas, et le chef de Damas, c’est Retsin. Et encore 65 ans, et Éphraïm cessera d’être un peuple;
9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliahs sonne. If ye beleeue not, surely ye shall not be established.
et le chef d’Éphraïm, c’est la Samarie, et le chef de la Samarie, c’est le fils de Remalia. Si vous ne croyez pas, vous ne subsisterez pas.
10 And the Lord spake againe vnto Ahaz, saying,
Et l’Éternel parla encore à Achaz, disant:
11 Aske a signe for thee of the Lord thy God: aske it, either in the depth beneath or in the height aboue. (Sheol h7585)
Demande pour toi un signe de la part de l’Éternel, ton Dieu; demande-le dans les lieux bas ou dans les hauteurs d’en haut. (Sheol h7585)
12 But Ahaz sayd, I wil not aske, neither will I tempt the Lord.
Et Achaz dit: Je ne [le] demanderai pas, et je ne tenterai pas l’Éternel.
13 Then he sayd, Heare you nowe, O house of Dauid, Is it a small thing for you to grieue men, that ye will also grieue my God?
Et il dit: Écoutez donc, maison de David: Est-ce peu de chose pour vous de lasser [la patience] des hommes, que vous lassiez aussi [la patience de] mon Dieu?
14 Therefore the Lord himselfe will giue you a signe. Beholde, the virgine shall conceiue and beare a sonne, and she shall call his name Immanu-el.
C’est pourquoi le Seigneur, lui, vous donnera un signe: Voici, la vierge concevra et elle enfantera un fils, et appellera son nom Emmanuel.
15 Butter and hony shall he eate, till he haue knowledge to refuse the euill, and to chuse the good.
Il mangera du caillé et du miel, pour savoir rejeter le mal et choisir le bien.
16 For afore the childe shall haue knowledge to eschew the euill, and to chuse the good, the land, that thou abhorrest, shalbe forsaken of both her Kings.
Car avant que l’enfant sache rejeter le mal et choisir le bien, le pays des deux rois duquel tu as peur sera abandonné.
17 The Lord shall bring vpon thee, and vpon thy people, and vpon thy fathers house (the dayes that haue not come from the day that Ephraim departed from Iudah) euen the King of Asshur.
L’Éternel fera venir sur toi, et sur ton peuple et sur la maison de ton père, des jours qui ne sont pas venus depuis le jour où Éphraïm s’est retiré de Juda, – [savoir] le roi d’Assyrie.
18 And in that day shall the Lord hisse for the flie that is at the vttermost part of the floods of Egypt, and for the bee which is in the lande of Asshur,
Et il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que l’Éternel sifflera la mouche qui est au bout des fleuves d’Égypte, et l’abeille qui est dans le pays d’Assyrie;
19 And they shall come and shall light all in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rockes, and vpon all thorny places, and vpon all bushy places.
et elles viendront et se poseront toutes dans les vallées désertes et dans les fentes des rochers, et sur toutes les broussailles, et sur tous les pâturages.
20 In that day shall the Lord shaue with a rasor that is hired, euen by them beyond the Riuer, by the King of Asshur, the head and the heare of the feete, and it shall consume the beard.
En ce jour-là, le Seigneur rasera avec un rasoir pris à louage au-delà du fleuve, avec le roi d’Assyrie, la tête et les poils des pieds, et il enlèvera aussi la barbe.
21 And in the same day shall a man nourish a yong kow, and two sheepe.
Et il arrivera, en ce jour-là, qu’un homme nourrira une jeune vache et deux brebis;
22 And for the abundance of milke, that they shall giue, hee shall eate butter: for butter and hony shall euery one eate, which is left within the land.
et il arrivera que, de l’abondance du lait qu’elles donneront, il mangera du caillé; car tous ceux qui seront de reste au milieu du pays mangeront du caillé et du miel.
23 And at the same day euery place, wherein shalbe a thousand vines, shalbe at a thousand pieces of siluer: so it shalbe for the briers and for the thornes.
Et il arrivera, en ce jour-là, que tout lieu où il y avait 1 000 ceps de 1 000 [pièces] d’argent, sera [abandonné] aux ronces et aux épines;
24 With arrowes and with bowe shall one come thither: because all the land shall be briers and thornes.
on y viendra avec des flèches et avec l’arc, car tout le pays sera ronces et épines.
25 But on all the mountaines, which shalbe digged with the mattocke, there shall not come thither the feare of briers and thornes: but they shalbe for the sending out of bullocks, and for the treading of sheepe.
Et toutes les montagnes qu’on cultivait avec la bêche, – on n’y viendra pas, par crainte des ronces et des épines; et elles seront un lieu pour y envoyer le bœuf, et pour que les brebis le foulent.
