Isaiah 66
1 Thus saith the Lord, The heauen is my throne, and the earth is my footestoole: where is that house that ye will builde vnto me? and where is that place of my rest?
Ainsi parle l’Éternel: Le ciel est mon trône, Et la terre mon marchepied. Quelle maison pourriez-vous me bâtir, Et quel lieu me donneriez-vous pour demeure?
2 For all these things hath mine hand made, and all these things haue bene, sayth the Lord: and to him will I looke, euen to him, that is poore, and of a contrite spirite and trembleth at my wordes.
Toutes ces choses, ma main les a faites, Et toutes ont reçu l’existence, dit l’Éternel. Voici sur qui je porterai mes regards: Sur celui qui souffre et qui a l’esprit abattu, Sur celui qui craint ma parole.
3 He that killeth a bullocke, is as if he slewe a man: he that sacrificeth a sheepe, as if he cut off a dogges necke: he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swines blood: he that remembreth incense, as if he blessed an idole: yea, they haue chosen their owne wayes, and their soule deliteth in their abominations.
Celui qui immole un bœuf est comme celui qui tuerait un homme, Celui qui sacrifie un agneau est comme celui qui romprait la nuque à un chien, Celui qui présente une offrande est comme celui qui répandrait du sang de porc, Celui qui brûle de l’encens est comme celui qui adorerait des idoles; Tous ceux-là se complaisent dans leurs voies, Et leur âme trouve du plaisir dans leurs abominations.
4 Therefore will I chuse out their delusions, and I will bring their feare vpon them, because I called, and none woulde answere: I spake and they woulde not heare: but they did euill in my sight, and chose the things which I would not.
Moi aussi, je me complairai dans leur infortune, Et je ferai venir sur eux ce qui cause leur effroi, Parce que j’ai appelé, et qu’ils n’ont point répondu, Parce que j’ai parlé, et qu’ils n’ont point écouté; Mais ils ont fait ce qui est mal à mes yeux, Et ils ont choisi ce qui me déplaît.
5 Heare the worde of the Lord, all ye that tremble at his worde, Your brethren that hated you, and cast you out for my Names sake, said, Let the Lord be glorified: but he shall appeare to your ioy, and they shall be ashamed.
Écoutez la parole de l’Éternel, Vous qui craignez sa parole. Voici ce que disent vos frères, Qui vous haïssent et vous repoussent A cause de mon nom: Que l’Éternel montre sa gloire, Et que nous voyions votre joie! Mais ils seront confondus.
6 A voyce soundeth from the citie, euen a voyce from the Temple, the voyce of the Lord, that recompenseth his enemies fully.
Une voix éclatante sort de la ville, Une voix sort du temple. C’est la voix de l’Éternel, Qui paie à ses ennemis leur salaire.
7 Before she trauailed, she brought foorth: and before her paine came, she was deliuered of a man childe.
Avant d’éprouver les douleurs, Elle a enfanté; Avant que les souffrances lui vinssent, Elle a donné naissance à un fils.
8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seene such things? shall ye earth be brought forth in one day? or shall a nation be borne at once? for assoone as Zion trauailed, she brought foorth her children.
Qui a jamais entendu pareille chose Qui a jamais vu rien de semblable? Un pays peut-il naître en un jour? Une nation est-elle enfantée d’un seul coup? A peine en travail, Sion a enfanté ses fils!
9 Shall I cause to trauaile, and not bring forth? shall I cause to bring forth, and shall be baren, saith thy God?
Ouvrirais-je le sein maternel, Pour ne pas laisser enfanter? Dit l’Éternel; Moi, qui fais naître, Empêcherais-je d’enfanter? Dit ton Dieu.
10 Reioyce ye with Ierusalem, and be gladde with her, all ye that loue her: reioyce for ioy with her, all ye that mourne for her,
Réjouissez-vous avec Jérusalem, Faites d’elle le sujet de votre allégresse, Vous tous qui l’aimez; Tressaillez avec elle de joie, Vous tous qui menez deuil sur elle;
11 That ye may sucke and be satisfied with the brestes of her consolation: that ye may milke out and be delited with ye brightnes of her glorie.
Afin que vous soyez nourris et rassasiés Du lait de ses consolations, Afin que vous savouriez avec bonheur La plénitude de sa gloire.
12 For thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I will extend peace ouer her like a flood, and the glorie of the Gentiles like a flowing streame: then shall ye sucke, ye shall be borne vpon her sides, and be ioyfull vpon her knees.
Car ainsi parle l’Éternel: Voici, je dirigerai vers elle la paix comme un fleuve, Et la gloire des nations comme un torrent débordé, Et vous serez allaités; Vous serez portés sur les bras, Et caressés sur les genoux.
13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you, and ye shall be comforted in Ierusalem.
Comme un homme que sa mère console, Ainsi je vous consolerai; Vous serez consolés dans Jérusalem.
14 And when ye see this, your hearts shall reioyce, and your bones shall flourish like an herbe: and the hand of the Lord shall be knowen among his seruants, and his indignation against his enemies.
Vous le verrez, et votre cœur sera dans la joie, Et vos os reprendront de la vigueur comme l’herbe; L’Éternel manifestera sa puissance envers ses serviteurs, Mais il fera sentir sa colère à ses ennemis.
15 For beholde, the Lord will come with fire, and his charets like a whirlewinde, that he may recompence his anger with wrath, and his indignation with the flame of fire.
Car voici, l’Éternel arrive dans un feu, Et ses chars sont comme un tourbillon; Il convertit sa colère en un brasier, Et ses menaces en flammes de feu.
16 For the Lord will iudge with fire, and with his sworde all flesh, and the slaine of the Lord shall be many.
C’est par le feu que l’Éternel exerce ses jugements, C’est par son glaive qu’il châtie toute chair; Et ceux que tuera l’Éternel seront en grand nombre.
17 They that sanctifie themselues, and purifie themselues in the gardens behinde one tree in the middes eating swines flesh, and such abomination, euen the mouse, shall be consumed together, sayeth the Lord.
Ceux qui se sanctifient et se purifient dans les jardins, Au milieu desquels ils vont un à un, Qui mangent de la chair de porc, Des choses abominables et des souris, Tous ceux-là périront, dit l’Éternel.
18 For I will visite their workes, and their imaginations: for it shall come that I will gather all nations, and tongues, and they shall come, and see my glorie.
Je connais leurs œuvres et leurs pensées. Le temps est venu de rassembler toutes les nations Et toutes les langues; Elles viendront et verront ma gloire.
19 And I will set a signe among them, and will send those that escape of them, vnto the nations of Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, and to them that drawe the bowe, to Tubal and Tauan, yles afarre off, that haue not heard my fame, neither haue seene my glorie, and they shall declare my glorie among the Gentiles.
Je mettrai un signe parmi elles, Et j’enverrai leurs réchappés vers les nations, A Tarsis, à Pul et à Lud, qui tirent de l’arc, A Tubal et à Javan, Aux îles lointaines, Qui jamais n’ont entendu parler de moi, Et qui n’ont pas vu ma gloire; Et ils publieront ma gloire parmi les nations.
20 And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering vnto the Lord out of all nations, vpon horses, and in charets, and in horse litters, and vpon mules, and swift beastes, to Ierusalem mine holy Mountaine, saith the Lord, as the children of Israel, offer in a cleane vessell in the House of the Lord.
Ils amèneront tous vos frères du milieu de toutes les nations, En offrande à l’Éternel, Sur des chevaux, des chars et des litières, Sur des mulets et des dromadaires, A ma montagne sainte, A Jérusalem, dit l’Éternel, Comme les enfants d’Israël apportent leur offrande, Dans un vase pur, A la maison de l’Éternel.
21 And I will take of them for Priestes, and for Leuites, saith the Lord.
Et je prendrai aussi parmi eux Des sacrificateurs, des Lévites, dit l’Éternel.
22 For as the newe heauens, and the newe earth which I will make, shall remaine before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seede and your name continue.
Car, comme les nouveaux cieux Et la nouvelle terre que je vais créer Subsisteront devant moi, dit l’Éternel, Ainsi subsisteront votre postérité et votre nom.
23 And from moneth to moneth, and from Sabbath to Sabbath shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.
A chaque nouvelle lune et à chaque sabbat, Toute chair viendra se prosterner devant moi, dit l’Éternel.
24 And they shall goe forth, and looke vpon the carkases of the men that haue transgressed against me: for their worme shall not dye, neither shall their fire be quenched, and they shalbe an abhorring vnto all flesh.
Et quand on sortira, on verra Les cadavres des hommes qui se sont rebellés contre moi; Car leur ver ne mourra point, et leur feu ne s’éteindra point; Et ils seront pour toute chair un objet d’horreur.
