Isaiah 61
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is vpon mee, therefore hath the Lord anoynted mee: hee hath sent mee to preache good tidings vnto the poore, to binde vp the broken hearted, to preach libertie to the captiues, and to them that are bound, the opening of the prison,
L’Esprit du Seigneur, de l’Eternel, repose sur moi, puisque l’Eternel m’a conféré la mission de porter un heureux message aux humbles; il m’a délégué pour guérir les cœurs brisés, pour annoncer la liberté aux captifs et la délivrance à ceux qui sont dans les chaînes;
2 To preache the acceptable yeere of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all that mourne,
pour proclamer une année de grâce de la part de l’Eternel, un jour de revanche de la part de notre Dieu, pour consoler tous les affligés;
3 To appoint vnto them that mourne in Zion, and to giue vnto them beautie for ashes, the oyle of ioye for mourning, the garment of gladnesse for the spirit of heauinesse, that they might be called trees of righteousnesse, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
pour présenter aux affligés de Sion et leur remettre une parure remplaçant les cendres, une huile d’allégresse remplaçant le deuil, un vêtement de triomphe remplaçant l’abattement de l’esprit: alors on les appellera térébinthes du salut, plantation de l’Eternel, dont il se fait gloire.
4 And they shall builde the olde waste places, and raise vp the former desolations, and they shall repaire the cities that were desolate and waste through many generations.
On se mettra à rebâtir les ruines antiques, à relever les décombres du passé, à restaurer les villes détruites, les éboulis des siècles écoulés.
5 And the strangers shall stande and feede your sheepe, and the sonnes of the strangers shall be your plowmen and dressers of your vines.
Des gens du dehors seront là pour paître vos troupeaux; des fils d’étrangers seront vos laboureurs et vos vignerons.
6 But ye shall be named the Priestes of the Lord, and men shall say vnto you, The ministers of our God, Ye shall eate the riches of the Gentiles, and shalbe exalted with their glorie.
Et vous, vous serez appelés prêtres de l’Eternel, on vous nommera ministres de notre Dieu. Vous jouirez de la richesse des nations et vous tirerez gloire de leur splendeur.
7 For your shame you shall receiue double, and for confusion they shall reioyce in their portion: for in their lande they shall possesse the double: euerlasting ioy shall be vnto them.
Là où s’étalait votre honte, on sera deux fois heureux; là où éclatait votre opprobre, on vantera son sort. Oui, dans leur pays ils auront double héritage, une joie éternelle sera leur lot.
8 For I the Lord loue iudgement and hate robberie for burnt offering, and I wil direct their worke in trueth, and will make an euerlasting couenant with them.
C’Est que moi, l’Eternel, j’aime le droit et déteste les rapines exercées par l’injustice; je leur rétribuerai leur œuvre avec équité et leur octroierai une alliance éternelle.
9 And their seede shall be knowen among the Gentiles, and their buddes among the people. All that see them, shall know them, that they are the seede which the Lord hath blessed.
Aussi leur postérité sera remarquée parmi les nations et leurs descendants parmi les peuples. Tous ceux qui les verront les reconnaîtront pour une race que Dieu a bénie.
10 I will greatly reioyce in the Lord, and my soule shall be ioyfull in my God: for he hath clothed mee with the garments of saluation, and couered me with the robe of righteousnes: hee hath decked me like a bridegrome, and as a bride tireth herselfe with her iewels.
Je veux me réjouir pleinement en l’Eternel, que mon âme se délecte en mon Dieu! Car il m’a revêtu de la livrée du salut, enveloppé du manteau de la victoire: tel un fiancé orne sa tête d’un diadème, telle une jeune épouse se pare de ses joyaux.
11 For as the earth bringeth foorth her bud, and as the garden causeth to growe that which is sowen in it: so the Lord God will cause righteousnesse to grow and praise before all the heathen.
Car de même que le sol développe ses plantes, de même qu’un jardin fait germer les graines qui lui sont confiées, ainsi Dieu, l’Eternel, fera éclore le salut et la gloire à la vue de toutes les nations.
