Isaiah 51
1 Heare me, ye that follow after righteousnes, and ye that seeke the Lord: looke vnto the rocke, whence ye are hewen, and to the hole of the pit, whence ye are digged.
Pour vous, écoutez-moi, vous qui suivez la justice et qui cherchez le Seigneur. Regardez la roche solide que vous avez taillée, et le fond de la source que vous avez creusée.
2 Consider Abraham your father, and Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.
Regardez Abraham votre père, et Sara qui vous a enfantés dans la douleur; car il était unique, et je l'ai appelé, je l'ai béni, je l'ai chéri et multiplié.
3 Surely the Lord shall comfort Zion: he shall comfort all her desolations, and he shall make her desert like Eden, and her wildernes like the garden of the Lord: ioy and gladnesse shalbe founde therein: praise, and the voyce of singing.
De même, je vais maintenant te consoler, ô Sion; j'ai déjà consolé toutes ses solitudes, je changerai ses déserts en jardins, et ceux qui s'étendent au couchant seront comme le paradis du Seigneur; en elle on trouvera joie et allégresse, actions de grâces et paroles de louanges.
4 Hearken ye vnto me, my people, and giue eare vnto me, O my people: for a Law shall proceede from me, and I will bring foorth my iudgement for the light of the people.
Écoutez-moi, mon peuple, écoutez-moi, et vous, rois, prêtez-moi une oreille attentive; car la loi sortira de moi, et ma justice sera la lumière des nations.
5 My righteousnes is neere: my saluation goeth foorth, and mine armes shall iudge the people: the yles shall waite for me, and shall trust vnto mine arme.
Elle est proche ma justice, et mon salut va se lever comme une lumière; et les Gentils espèreront en mon bras; les îles m'attendront et elles espèreront aussi en mon bras.
6 Lift vp your eyes to the heauens, and looke vpon the earth beneath: for the heauens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall waxe olde like a garment, and they that dwell therein, shall perish in like maner: but my saluation shall be for euer, and my righteousnesse shall not bee abolished.
Levez les yeux au ciel, et regardez au-dessous la terre; le ciel n'est pas plus solide que la fumée, la terre vieillira comme un manteau, et comme eux mourront ceux qui l'habitent; mais mon salut subsistera durant tous les siècles, et ma justice ne défaillira point.
7 Hearken vnto me, ye that know righteousnesse, the people in whose heart is my Lawe. Feare ye not the reproche of men, neither be ye afraide of their rebukes.
Écoutez-moi, vous qui connaissez le jugement, et vous, mon peuple, qui conservez ma loi dans votre cœur. Ne craignez pas les outrages des hommes; ne soyez pas abattus par leur mépris;
8 For the mothe shall eate them vp like a garment, and the worme shall eate them like wool: but my righteousnesse shalbe for euer, and my saluation from generation to generation.
Car ils seront consumés comme un manteau par l'effet du temps; ils seront rongés des vers comme de la laine; mais ma justice subsistera dans tous les siècles, et mon salut durant les générations des générations.
9 Rise vp, rise vp, and put on strength, O arme of the Lord: rise vp as in the olde time in the generations of the worlde. Art not thou the same, that hath cutte Rahab, and wounded the dragon?
Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, Jérusalem, arme de force ton bras; réveille- toi comme au commencement des jours, comme les antiques générations. N'es-tu pas
10 Art not thou the same, which hath dried the Sea, euen the waters of the great deepe, making the depth of the Sea a way for the redeemed to passe ouer?
Celle qui a desséché la mer et la plénitude des eaux de l'abîme? N'as-tu pas fait du fond de la mer une voie pour le passage de mon peuple délivré
11 Therefore the redeemed of the Lord shall returne, and come with ioy vnto Zion, and euerlasting ioy shalbe vpon their head: they shall obtaine ioy, and gladnesse: and sorow and mourning shall flee away.
Et racheté? Car tes enfants seront ramenés par le Seigneur, et ils reviendront dans Sion pleins d'une joie et d'une allégresse éternelle; ils seront couronnés de louanges et transportés de joie; les douleurs, la tristesse, les gémissements se sont enfuis.
12 I, euen I am he, that comfort you. Who art thou, that thou shouldest feare a mortall man, and the sonne of man, which shalbe made as grasse?
C'est moi, c'est moi ton consolateur; sache qui tu es, et si tu devais craindre un homme mortel, un fils de l'homme, qui sèchera comme l'herbe des champs.
13 And forgettest the Lord thy maker, that hath spred out the heauens, and layde the foundations of the earth? and hast feared continually all the day, because of the rage of the oppressour, which is readie to destroy? Where is now the rage of the oppressour?
Et tu avais oublié Dieu ton créateur, le créateur du ciel et de la terre; et tous les jours tu avais peur en voyant en face la furie de ton persécuteur! Il a péri comme il avait résolu de te faire périr; et la furie de ton persécuteur, où est-elle à présent?
14 The captiue hasteneth to be loosed, and that hee should not die in the pitte, nor that his bread should faile.
Le Seigneur ne s'arrêtera point, il ne mettra point de lenteur à te sauver.
15 And I am the Lord thy God that deuided the Sea, when his waues roared: the Lord of hostes is his Name.
Car je suis ton Dieu; c'est moi qui trouble la mer, et qui fais retentir ses flots. Mon nom est le Seigneur des armées.
16 And I haue put my wordes in thy mouth, and haue defended thee in the shadowe of mine hand, that I may plant the heauens, and lay the foundation of the earth, and say vnto Zion, Thou art my people.
Je mettrai mes paroles en ta bouche; je t'abriterai à l'ombre de ma main, qui a fixé le ciel et affermi la terre, et je dirai à Sion: Tu es mon peuple.
17 Awake, awake, and stande vp, O Ierusalem, which hast drunke at the hande of the Lord the cup of his wrath: thou hast drunken the dregges of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.
Réveille-toi, réveille-toi, lève-toi, Jérusalem, qui as bu de la main du Seigneur le calice de sa colère. Car tu as bu, tu as épuisé le calice de la ruine, la grande coupe de la fureur.
18 There is none to guide her among all the sonnes, whome she hath brought foorth: there is none that taketh her by the hand of all the sonnes that she hath brought vp.
Et de tous les enfants que tu as mis au jour, nul ne t'a consolée; et de tous les fils que tu as élevés, nul ne t'a prise par la main.
19 These two thinges are come vnto thee: who will lament thee? desolation and destruction and famine, and the sworde: by whome shall I comfort thee?
Quand ces choses fondront sur toi, qui partagera ta tristesse? Quand il y aura ruine et désolation, famine et coups de glaive, qui te consolera?
20 Thy sonnes haue fainted, and lye at the head of all the streetes as a wilde bull in a nette, and are full of the wrath of the Lord, and rebuke of thy God.
Tes fils ont été pressés par la détresse, couchés au bout de chaque rue, comme une blette à demi cuite, pleins de la colère du Seigneur, énervés par le Seigneur Dieu.
21 Therefore heare nowe this, thou miserable and drunken, but not with wine.
C'est pourquoi, écoute, ô toi qui es humiliée et enivrée, mais non de vin:
22 Thus saith thy Lord God, euen God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Beholde, I haue taken out of thine hande the cuppe of trembling, euen the dregges of the cuppe of my wrath: thou shalt drinke it no more.
Ainsi dit le Seigneur Dieu, juge de son peuple: Voilà que j'ai ôté de tes mains le calice de la ruine, la grande coupe de ma fureur; tu ne continueras plus d'y boire à l'avenir.
23 But I will put it into their hande that spoile thee: which haue said to thy soule, Bowe downe, that wee may goe ouer, and thou hast layde thy bodie as the grounde, and as the streete to them that went ouer.
Je la mettrai dans les mains de ceux qui t'ont nui injustement, de ceux qui t'ont abaissée, de ceux qui disaient à ton âme: Couche-toi, afin que nous passions; et tu faisais de ton corps un chemin pour ceux qui passaient.
