Isaiah 42
1 Behold, my seruaunt: I will stay vpon him: mine elect, in whom my soule deliteth: I haue put my Spirit vpon him: he shall bring forth iudgement to the Gentiles.
Si min Tjenare, jag uppehåller honom, och min utkorade, i hvilkom min själ väl behagar. Jag hafver gifvit honom min Anda; han skall låta komma rätt ibland Hedningarna.
2 He shall not crie, nor lift vp, nor cause his voice to be heard in the streete.
Han skall icke skria eller ropa, och hans röst skall man icke höra på gatomen.
3 A bruised reede shall hee not breake, and the smoking flaxe shall he not quench: he shall bring foorth iudgement in trueth.
En förbråkad rö skall han icke sönderbryta, och en rykande veka skall han icke utsläcka. Han skall lära hålla rätten i sanning.
4 He shall not faile nor be discouraged till he haue set iudgement in the earth: and the yles shall waite for his lawe.
Han skall icke vara knorrisk eller grufvelig, på det han skall sätta rätt på jordene; och öarna skola vänta efter hans lag.
5 Thus sayeth God the Lord (he that created the heauens and spred them abroad: he that stretched foorth the earth, and the buddes thereof: he that giueth breath vnto the people vpon it, and spirit to them that walke therein)
Så säger Herren Gud, som himmelen skapar och utsträcker, den som jordena gör med det deruppå växer; den som folkena, som deruppå är, gifver lif, och anda dem som gå deruppå:
6 I the Lord haue called thee in righteousnesse, and will hold thine hand, and I will keepe thee, and giue thee for a couenant of the people, and for a light of the Gentiles,
Jag Herren hafver kallat dig i rättfärdighet, och fattat dig vid handena, och bevarat dig, och hafver gifvit dig till ett förbund i folkena, Hedningomen till ett ljus;
7 That thou maist open the eyes of the blind, and bring out the prisoners from the prison: and them that sitte in darkenesse, out of the prison house.
Att du skall öppna de blindas ögon, och föra fångarna utu fängelse, och de som sitta i mörkret utu fångahuset.
8 I am the Lord, this is my Name, and my glory wil I not giue to another, neither my praise to grauen images.
Jag Herren, det är mitt Namn; och jag skall icke gifva mina äro enom androm, ej heller mitt lof afgudomen.
9 Beholde, the former thinges are come to passe, and newe things doe I declare: before they come foorth, I tell you of them.
Si, hvad komma skall förkunnar jag framföreåt, och förkunnar ny ting; förr än det sker, låter jag eder det höra.
10 Sing vnto the Lord a newe song, and his praise from the ende of the earth: yee that goe downe to the sea, and all that is therein: the yles and the inhabitants thereof.
Sjunger Herranom en ny viso, hans lof är intill verldenes ändar; de som i hafvet fara, och hvad deruti är; öarna, och de som der bo.
11 Let the wildernesse and the cities thereof lift vp their voyce, the townes that Kedar doeth inhabite: let the inhabitants of the rocks sing: let them shoute from the toppe of the mountaines.
Roper högt, I öken och städer deruti, samt med de byar der Kedar bor; sig fröjde de som bo på klippomen, och rope utaf bergshöjdene.
12 Let them giue glorie vnto the Lord, and declare his praise in the ylands.
Låter dem gifva Herranom ärona, och förkunna hans lof på öarna.
13 The Lord shall go forth as a gyant: he shall stirre vp his courage like a man of warre: he shall shout and crie, and shall preuaile against his enemies.
Herren varder utdragandes såsom en rese; han skall uppväcka nit såsom en krigsman; han skall fröjda sig, och ett gny göra; han skall sinom fiendom öfverhändig blifva.
14 I haue a long time holden my peace: I haue beene still and refrained my selfe: nowe will I crie like a trauailing woman: I will destroy and deuoure at once.
Jag tiger väl till en tid, och är stilla och håller mig; men nu vill jag ropa såsom en barnföderska; jag skall föröda och uppsvälja dem alla.
15 I will make waste mountaines, and hilles, and drie vp all their herbes, and I will make the floods ylands, and I will drie vp the pooles.
Jag skall föröda berg och högar, och borttorka allt deras gräs; och skall göra vattuströmmarna till öar, och uttorka sjöarna.
16 And I will bring the blinde by a way, that they knewe not, and lead them by paths that they haue not knowen: I will make darkenesse light before them, and crooked thinges straight. These thinges will I doe vnto them, and not forsake them.
Men de blinda vill jag leda på den vägen, som de icke veta; Jag vill föra dem på de stigar, som de icke känna; jag vill sätta mörkret för dem till ett ljus, och det oslätt är, till jemnhet; detta vill jag göra dem, och icke öfvergifva dem.
17 They shall be turned backe: they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in grauen images, and say to the molten images, Yee are our gods.
Men de som förlåta sig på afgudar, och säga till gjuten beläte: I ären våre gudar; de skola tillbakavända, och till skam varda.
18 Heare, ye deafe: and ye blinde, regarde, that ye may see.
Hörer, I döfve, och ser härtill, I blinde, att I mågen se.
19 Who is blinde but my seruaunt? or deafe as my messenger, that I sent? who is blind as the perfit, and blinde as the Lordes seruant?
Ho är så blind som min tjenare? Och ho är så döf som mitt bådskap, den jag sänder? Ho är så blind som den fullkomlige, och så blind såsom Herrans tjenare?
20 Seeing many things, but thou keepest them not? opening the eares, but he heareth not?
Man predikar väl mycket, men de hållat intet; man säger dem nog, men de vilja icke hörat.
21 The Lord is willing for his righteousnesse sake that he may magnifie the Lawe, and exalt it.
Likväl vill Herren dem godt, för sina rättfärdighets skull, och att han skall göra sin lag härlig och stor.
22 But this people is robbed and spoiled, and shalbe all snared in dungeons, and they shalbe hid in prison houses: they shall be for a pray, and none shall deliuer: a spoile, and none shall say, Restore.
Det är ett bedröfvadt och skinnadt folk; de äro allesammans besnärde uti kulor, och bortgömde i fångahus; de äro vordne till rof, och ingen hjelpare är; beskinnade, och ingen är, som säger: Få dem igen.
23 Who among you shall hearken to this, and take heede, and heare for afterwardes?
Hvilken är ibland eder, som aktar härtill; märker, och hörer hvad härefter kommer.
24 Who gaue Iaakob for a spoyle, and Israel to the robbers? Did not ye Lord, because we haue sinned against him? for they woulde not walke in his waies, neither be obedient vnto his Lawe.
Ho hafver öfvergifvit Jacob till sköfvels, och Israel röfvarom? Hafver icke Herren gjort det, emot hvilkom vi syndat hafve? Och de ville icke vandra på hans vägar, och lydde icke hans lag.
25 Therefore hee hath powred vpon him his fierce wrath, and the strength of battell: and it set him on fire round about, and he knewe not, and it burned him vp, yet he considered not.
Derföre hafver han utskuddat öfver dem sina vredes grymhet, och en krigsmagt, och hafver upptändt dem allt omkring; men de aktade det intet. Han fängde uppå dem, men de lade det intet uppå hjertat.
