Isaiah 42
1 Behold, my seruaunt: I will stay vpon him: mine elect, in whom my soule deliteth: I haue put my Spirit vpon him: he shall bring forth iudgement to the Gentiles.
Eis aqui o meu Servo, a quem sustenho, o meu Eleito, em quem se apraz a minha alma; pus o meu espírito sobre ele; juízo produzirá aos gentios.
2 He shall not crie, nor lift vp, nor cause his voice to be heard in the streete.
Não clamará, nem alçará a sua voz, nem fará ouvir a sua voz na praça.
3 A bruised reede shall hee not breake, and the smoking flaxe shall he not quench: he shall bring foorth iudgement in trueth.
A cana trilhada não quebrará, nem apagará o pávio que fumega: com verdade produzirá o juízo;
4 He shall not faile nor be discouraged till he haue set iudgement in the earth: and the yles shall waite for his lawe.
Não se encobrirá, nem será quebrantado, até que ponha na terra o juízo: e as ilhas aguardarão a sua doutrina.
5 Thus sayeth God the Lord (he that created the heauens and spred them abroad: he that stretched foorth the earth, and the buddes thereof: he that giueth breath vnto the people vpon it, and spirit to them that walke therein)
Assim diz Deus, o Senhor, que criou os céus, e os estendeu, e espraiou a terra, e a tudo quanto produz: que dá a respiração ao povo que habita nela, e o espírito aos que andam nela.
6 I the Lord haue called thee in righteousnesse, and will hold thine hand, and I will keepe thee, and giue thee for a couenant of the people, and for a light of the Gentiles,
Eu o Senhor te chamei em justiça, e te tomarei pela mão, e te guardarei, e te darei por concerto do povo, e para luz dos gentios;
7 That thou maist open the eyes of the blind, and bring out the prisoners from the prison: and them that sitte in darkenesse, out of the prison house.
Para abrir os olhos cegos, para tirar da prisão os presos, e da casa do cárcere os que jazem em trevas.
8 I am the Lord, this is my Name, and my glory wil I not giue to another, neither my praise to grauen images.
Eu sou o Senhor; este é o meu nome; a minha glória pois a outrem não darei, nem o meu louvor às imagens de escultura.
9 Beholde, the former thinges are come to passe, and newe things doe I declare: before they come foorth, I tell you of them.
Eis que as coisas de antes já vieram, e as novas eu vos anuncío, e, antes que venham à luz, vo-las faço ouvir.
10 Sing vnto the Lord a newe song, and his praise from the ende of the earth: yee that goe downe to the sea, and all that is therein: the yles and the inhabitants thereof.
Cantai ao Senhor um cântico novo, e o seu louvor desde o fim da terra: como também vós os que navegais pelo mar, e tudo quanto há nela; vós, ilhas, e seus habitadores.
11 Let the wildernesse and the cities thereof lift vp their voyce, the townes that Kedar doeth inhabite: let the inhabitants of the rocks sing: let them shoute from the toppe of the mountaines.
Alcem a voz o deserto e as suas cidades, com as aldeias que Kedar habita: exultem os que habitam nas rochas, e clamem do cume dos montes.
12 Let them giue glorie vnto the Lord, and declare his praise in the ylands.
Dêem a glória ao Senhor, e anunciem o seu louvor nas ilhas.
13 The Lord shall go forth as a gyant: he shall stirre vp his courage like a man of warre: he shall shout and crie, and shall preuaile against his enemies.
O Senhor como valente sairá, como homem de guerra despertará o zelo: exultará, e fará grande arruído, e sujeitará a seus inimigos.
14 I haue a long time holden my peace: I haue beene still and refrained my selfe: nowe will I crie like a trauailing woman: I will destroy and deuoure at once.
Já há muito me calei; estive posto em silêncio, e me retive: darei gritos como a que está de parto, e a todos os assolarei e juntamente devorarei.
15 I will make waste mountaines, and hilles, and drie vp all their herbes, and I will make the floods ylands, and I will drie vp the pooles.
Os montes e outeiros tornarei em deserto, e toda a sua erva farei secar, e tornarei os rios em ilhas, e as lagoas secarei.
16 And I will bring the blinde by a way, that they knewe not, and lead them by paths that they haue not knowen: I will make darkenesse light before them, and crooked thinges straight. These thinges will I doe vnto them, and not forsake them.
E guiarei os cegos pelo caminho que nunca conheceram, os farei caminhar pelas veredas que não conheceram: tornarei as trevas em luz perante eles, e as coisas tortas farei direitas. Estas coisas lhes farei, e nunca os desampararei.
17 They shall be turned backe: they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in grauen images, and say to the molten images, Yee are our gods.
Mas serão tornados atráz e confundir-se-ão de vergonha os que confiam em imagens de escultura, e dizem às imagens de fundição: Vós sois nossos deuses.
18 Heare, ye deafe: and ye blinde, regarde, that ye may see.
Surdos, ouvi, e vós, cegos, olhai, para que possais ver.
19 Who is blinde but my seruaunt? or deafe as my messenger, that I sent? who is blind as the perfit, and blinde as the Lordes seruant?
Quem é cego, senão o meu servo, ou surdo como o meu mensageiro, a quem envio? e quem é cego como o perfeito, e cego como o servo do Senhor?
20 Seeing many things, but thou keepest them not? opening the eares, but he heareth not?
Bem vêdes vós muitas coisas, porém vós as não guardais: ainda que abre os ouvidos, contudo nada ouve
21 The Lord is willing for his righteousnesse sake that he may magnifie the Lawe, and exalt it.
O Senhor se agradava dele por amor da sua justiça: engrandeceu pela lei, e o fez glorioso.
22 But this people is robbed and spoiled, and shalbe all snared in dungeons, and they shalbe hid in prison houses: they shall be for a pray, and none shall deliuer: a spoile, and none shall say, Restore.
Porém este é um povo roubado e saqueado: todos estão enlaçados em cavernas, e escondidos nas casas dos cárceres: são postos por preza, e ninguém há que os livre, por despojo, e ninguém diz: restitui.
23 Who among you shall hearken to this, and take heede, and heare for afterwardes?
Quem há entre vós que ouça isto? que atenda e ouça o que há de ser depois?
24 Who gaue Iaakob for a spoyle, and Israel to the robbers? Did not ye Lord, because we haue sinned against him? for they woulde not walke in his waies, neither be obedient vnto his Lawe.
Quem entregou a Jacob por despojo, e a Israel aos roubadores? porventura não foi o Senhor, aquele contra quem pecamos, e nos caminhos do qual não queriam andar e não davam ouvidos à sua lei?
25 Therefore hee hath powred vpon him his fierce wrath, and the strength of battell: and it set him on fire round about, and he knewe not, and it burned him vp, yet he considered not.
Pelo que derramou sobre eles a indignação da sua ira, e a força da guerra, e lhes pôs labaredas em redor: porém nisso não atentaram; e os queimou, porém não puseram nisso o coração.
