Isaiah 41
1 Keep silence before mee, O ylands, and let the people renue their strength: let the come neere, and let them speake: let vs come together into iudgement.
Escúchenme en silencio, pueblos que viven en tierras más allá del mar. Dejen que las naciones recuperen su fuerza. Entonces que vengan y hablen, y que nos unamos para el juicio.
2 Who raised vp iustice from the East, and called him to his foote? and gaue the nations before him, and subdued the Kings? he gaue them as dust to his sword, and as scattered stubble vnto his bowe.
Quien ha animado a este del este que es llamado al servicio de Dios para hacer lo que es correcto? Le da naciones, y le ayuda a pisotear reyes. Los convierte en polvo con su espada, y los convierte en paja con su arco, llevados ante él por el viento.
3 He pursued them, and passed safely by the way that he had not gone with his feete.
Los persigue y avanza sin daño alguno, sin seguir las rutas habituales.
4 Who hath wrought and done it? he that calleth the generations from the beginning. I the Lord am the first, and with the last I am ye same.
¿Quién ha logrado y hecho esto, llamando a la existencia a cada generación desde el principio de los tiempos? Yo, el Señor, el primero y el último, soy yo.
5 The yles sawe it, and did feare, and the ends of the earth were abashed, drew neere, and came.
Las islas observan con temor, las tierras lejanas tiemblan. Se reúnen y consultan.
6 Euery man helped his neighbour, and saide to his brother, Be strong.
Todos se ayudan mutuamente, animándose a ser fuertes.
7 So the workeman comforted the founder, and he that smote with ye hammer, him that smote by course, saying, It is ready for the sodering, and he fastened it with nayles that it shoulde not be mooued.
El artesano anima al orfebre; el que golpea el metal con un martillo anima al que golpea el yunque, diciendo que la soldadura es buena. Clavan el ídolo para que no se caiga.
8 But thou, Israel, art my seruant, and thou Iaakob, whom I haue chosen, the seede of Abraham my friend.
Pero a ti, Israel, siervo mío, Jacob, los que he elegido, descendientes de mi amigo Abraham,
9 For I haue taken thee from the endes of the earth, and called thee before the chiefe thereof, and saide vnto thee, Thou art my seruant: I haue chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
te hice volver de tierras lejanas, te llamé de lugares lejanos, diciéndote: “Ustedes son mis siervos”. Los he elegido, y no los he abandonado.
10 Feare thou not, for I am with thee: be not afraide, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, and helpe thee, and will susteine thee with the right hand of my iustice.
¡No tengan miedo, porque yo estoy con ustedes! No tengan miedo, porque yo, su Dios, los haré fuertes, y ciertamente los ayudaré. Los apoyaré con mi mano fuerte, actuando a favor de lo que es justo.
11 Beholde, all they that prouoke thee, shalbe ashamed, and confounded: they shalbe as nothing, and they that striue with thee, shall perish.
Mira: todo el que se enoje contigo será avergonzado y deshonrado. Los que luchan contra ti terminarán como nada y morirán.
12 Thou shalt seeke them and shalt not finde them: to wit, the men of thy strife, for they shall be as nothing, and the men that warre against thee, as a thing of nought.
Aunque busques a tus enemigos, no los encontrarás. Los que te atacan se convertirán en nada.
13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying vnto thee, Feare not, I wil helpe thee.
Porque yo, el Señor, te cogeré de la mano y te diré: “¡No tengas miedo! Yo mismo te ayudaré.
14 Feare not, thou worme, Iaakob, and ye men of Israel: I wil helpe thee, sayth the Lord and thy redeemer the holy one of Israel.
No tengas miedo, Jacob, pequeño gusano, pueblo de Israel, porque yo te ayudaré”, declaró el Señor, tu Salvador, el Santo de Israel.
15 Behold, I wil make thee a roller, and a newe threshing instrument hauing teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountaines, and bring them to pouder, and shalt make the hilles as chaffe.
¡Mira! Te convertiré en una trilladora nueva y afilada, con muchos dientes puntiagudos. Trillarás los montes y aplastarás las colinas, convirtiéndolas en paja.
16 Thou shalt fanne them, and the winde shall carie them away, and the whirlewinde shall scatter them: and thou shalt reioyce in the Lord, and shalt glory in the holy one of Israel.
Los arrojarás al aire, el viento se los llevará y una tormenta los dispersará. Entonces te alegrarás en el Señor, y te jactarás del Santo de Israel.
17 When the poore and the needy seeke water, and there is none (their tongue faileth for thirst: I the Lord will heare them: I the God of Israel will not forsake them)
Los pobres y los necesitados buscan agua, pero no la encuentran; sus lenguas están secas de sed. Yo, el Señor, les responderé; yo, el Dios de Israel, no los abandonaré.
18 I will open riuers in the toppes of the hils, and fountaines in the middes of the valleis: I will make the wildernesse as a poole of water, and the waste land as springs of water.
Abriré ríos en las tierras altas desoladas y manantiales en los valles. Haré estanques en el desierto y manantiales en el desierto.
19 I will set in the wildernesse the cedar, the shittah tree, and the mirre tree, and the pine tree, and I will set in the wildernesse the firre tree, the elme and the boxe tree together.
Plantaré cedros, acacias, mirtos y olivos en el desierto. Pondré árboles de hoja perenne en el desierto, abetos y bojes juntos.
20 Therefore let them see and knowe, and let them consider and vnderstande together that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the holy one of Israel hath created it.
Así todos podrán ver y saber, podrán pensar en ello y sacar la conclusión de que es el Señor quien ha hecho esto, que el Santo de Israel lo ha hecho.
21 Stand to your cause, saith the Lord: bring forth your strong reasons, saith ye King of Iaakob.
“Ahora presenta tu caso”, dice el Señor. “Presenten sus pruebas”, dice el Rey de Jacob.
22 Let them bring foorth, and let them tell vs what shall come: let them shew the former things what they be, that wee may consider them, and knowe the latter ende of them: either declare vs things for to come.
“Dejen que vengan a contarnos lo que va a ocurrir. Que nos expliquen las cosas del pasado, para que podamos pensar en ellas y descubrir el resultado final. O que nos hablen del futuro.
23 Shewe the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods: yea, doe good or doe euill, that we may declare it, and beholde it together.
Predicen lo que va a pasar para que sepamos con certeza que son dioses. Al menos hagan algo, bueno o malo, que nos impresione cuando lo veamos.
24 Beholde, ye are of no value, and your making is of naught: man hath chosen an abomination by them.
¡Pero mírense! ¡No son nada y nada pueden hacer! ¡Cualquiera que los elija a ustedes es repugnante!
25 I haue raised vp from the North, and he shall come: from the East sunne shall he cal vpon my Name, and shall come vpon princes as vpon clay, and as the potter treadeth myre vnder the foote.
“Yo he animado al que viene del norte. Él es del este, y me respetará. Pisará a los gobernantes como si fueran argamasa, como un alfarero que pisa la arcilla.
26 Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may knowe? or before time, that we may say, He is righteous? Surely there is none that sheweth: surely there is none that declareth: surely there is none that heareth your wordes.
“¿Quién lo anunció de antemano para que pudiéramos conocerlo? ¿Quién nos lo hizo saber en el pasado, para que ahora pudiéramos decir: Tenía razón? Ninguno de ustedes lo anunció, ninguno lo predijo, y nadie os oyó decir una palabra!
27 I am the first, that saieth to Zion, Beholde, beholde them: and I will giue to Ierusalem one that shall bring good tidings.
Yo fui el primero en anunciar a Sión: ‘¡Mira, aquí están!’ Yo fui el que llevó a Jerusalén la buena noticia.
28 But when I behelde, there was none, and when I inquired of them, there was no counsellor, and when I demaunded of them, they answered not a woorde.
Miro a estos ídolos y veo que no hay nadie que pueda decir nada. Ninguno de ellos sabe dar consejos; cuando les pregunto algo, ni siquiera saben responder.
29 Beholde, they are all vanitie: their worke is of nothing, their images are wind and confusion.
¡Míralos! Son todos malvados y engañosos. ¡No pueden hacer nada! Son sólo ídolos llenos de aire caliente!”
