Isaiah 40
1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, will your God say.
Tröstet, tröstet mein Volk! spricht euer Gott.
2 Speake comfortably to Ierusalem, and crye vnto her, that her warrefare is accomplished, that her iniquitie is pardoned: for she hath receiued of the Lords hand double for all her sinnes.
Redet zum Herzen Jerusalems, und rufet ihr zu, daß ihre Mühsal vollendet, daß ihre Schuld [O. Missetat] abgetragen ist, daß sie von der Hand Jehovas Zwiefältiges empfangen hat für alle ihre Sünden.
3 A voyce cryeth in the wildernesse, Prepare ye the way of the Lord: make streight in the desert a path for our God.
Stimme eines Rufenden: In der Wüste bahnet [So nach der hebr. Interpunktion; die alexandr. Übersetzung liest: "Stimme eines Rufenden in der Wüste: Bahnet usw.", und läßt die Worte "in der Steppe" weg] den Weg Jehovas; ebnet in der Steppe eine Straße [S. die Anm zu Kap. 19,23] für unseren Gott!
4 Euery valley shall be exalted, and euery mountaine and hill shall be made lowe: and the crooked shalbe streight, and the rough places plaine.
Jedes Tal soll erhöht und jeder Berg und Hügel erniedrigt werden; und das Höckerichte soll zur Ebene werden, und das Hügelige zur Niederung!
5 And the glory of the Lord shalbe reueiled, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
Und die Herrlichkeit Jehovas wird sich offenbaren, und alles Fleisch miteinander wird sie sehen; denn der Mund Jehovas hat geredet.
6 A voyce saide, Crie. And he saide, What shall I crie? All flesh is grasse, and all the grace thereof is as the floure of the fielde.
Stimme eines Sprechenden: Rufe! Und er spricht: Was soll ich rufen? "Alles Fleisch ist Gras, und alle seine Anmut wie die Blume des Feldes.
7 The grasse withereth, the floure fadeth, because the Spirite of the Lord bloweth vpon it: surely the people is grasse.
Das Gras ist verdorrt, die Blume ist abgefallen; [O. verwelkt] denn der Hauch Jehovas hat sie angeweht. Fürwahr, das Volk ist Gras.
8 The grasse withereth, the floure fadeth: but the worde of our God shall stand for euer.
Das Gras ist verdorrt, die Blume ist abgefallen; [O. verwelkt] aber das Wort unseres Gottes besteht in Ewigkeit."
9 O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee vp into the hie mountaine: O Ierusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift vp thy voyce with strength: lift it vp, be not afraide: say vnto the cities of Iudah, Beholde your God.
Auf einen hohen Berg steige hinauf, Zion, du Verkündigerin froher Botschaft; erhebe mit Macht deine Stimme, Jerusalem, du Verkündigerin froher Botschaft! Erhebe sie, fürchte dich nicht; sprich zu den Städten Judas:
10 Beholde, the Lord God will come with power, and his arme shall rule for him: beholde, his rewarde is with him, and his worke before him,
Siehe da, euer Gott! Siehe, der Herr, Jehova, kommt mit Kraft, [Eig. als ein Starker] und sein Arm übt Herrschaft für ihn; siehe, sein Lohn ist bei ihm, und seine Vergeltung geht vor ihm her.
11 He shall feede his flocke like a shepheard: he shall gather the lambes with his arme, and cary them in his bosome, and shall guide them with young.
Er wird seine Herde weiden wie ein Hirt, die Lämmer wird er in seinen Arm nehmen und in seinem Busen tragen, die Säugenden wird er sanft leiten.
12 Who hath measured the waters in his fist? and counted heauen with the spanne, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure? and weighed ye mountaines in a weight, and the hilles in a balance?
Wer hat die Wasser gemessen mit seiner hohlen Hand und die Himmel abgegrenzt mit der Spanne, und hat den Staub der Erde in ein Maß [Eig. in den Dreiling; [ein Drittel Epha]] gefaßt, und die Berge mit der Waage gewogen und die Hügel mit Waagschalen?
13 Who hath instructed ye Spirit of the Lord? or was his counseler or taught him?
Wer hat den Geist Jehovas gelenkt, [Eig. geregelt, abgegrenzt] und wer, als sein Ratgeber, ihn unterwiesen?
14 Of whom tooke he counsell, and who instructed him and taught him in the way of iudgement? or taught him knowledge, and shewed vnto him the way of vnderstanding?
Mit wem beriet er sich, daß er ihm Verstand gegeben und ihn belehrt hätte über den Pfad des Rechts, und ihn Erkenntnis gelehrt und ihm den Weg der Einsicht [Eig. der Einsichten, d. h. der vollen Einsicht] kundgemacht hätte?
15 Beholde, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the dust of the balance: beholde, he taketh away the yles as a litle dust.
Siehe, Nationen sind geachtet wie ein Tropfen am Eimer und wie ein Sandkorn auf der Waagschale. Siehe, Inseln sind wie ein Stäubchen, das emporschwebt. [And. üb.: Siehe, Inseln hebt er empor wie ein Stäubchen]
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient for fire, nor the beastes thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
Und der Libanon reicht nicht hin zum Brennholz, [Eig. zum Brennen] und sein Wild reicht nicht hin zum Brandopfer.
17 All nations before him are as nothing, and they are counted to him, lesse then nothing, and vanitie.
Alle Nationen sind wie nichts vor ihm, und werden von ihm geachtet wie Nichtigkeit und Leere. -
18 To whom then wil ye liken God? or what similitude will ye set vp vnto him?
Und wem wollt ihr Gott [El] vergleichen? Und was für ein Gleichnis wollt ihr ihm an die Seite stellen?
19 The workeman melteth an image, or the goldsmith beateth it out in golde, or the goldesmith maketh siluer plates.
Hat der Künstler das Bild gegossen, so überzieht es der Schmelzer mit Gold und schweißt silberne Ketten daran.
20 Doeth not the poore chuse out a tree that will not rot, for an oblation? he seeketh also vnto him a cunning workeman, to prepare an image, that shall not be moued.
Wer arm ist, so daß er nicht viel opfern kann, [Eig. Wer verarmt ist in Bezug auf ein Hebopfer] der wählt ein Holz, das nicht fault; er sucht sich einen geschickten Künstler, um ein Bild herzustellen, das nicht wanke. -
21 Know ye nothing? haue ye not heard it? hath it not bene tolde you from the beginning? haue ye not vnderstand it by the foundation of the earth?
Wisset ihr es nicht? Höret ihr es nicht? Ist es euch nicht von Anbeginn verkündet worden? habt ihr nicht Einsicht erlangt in die Grundlegung [W. in die Grundfesten] der Erde?
22 He sitteth vpon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grashoppers, hee stretcheth out ye heauens, as a curtaine, and spreadeth them out, as a tent to dwell in.
Er ist es, der da thront über dem Kreise der Erde, und ihre Bewohner sind wie Heuschrecken; der die Himmel ausgespannt hat wie einen Flor und sie ausgebreitet wie ein Zelt zum Wohnen;
23 He bringeth the princes to nothing, and maketh the iudges of the earth, as vanitie,
der die Fürsten zu nichts macht, die Richter der Erde in Nichtigkeit verwandelt. [Eig. der Öde gleichmacht]
24 As though they were not plated, as though they were not sowen, as though their stocke tooke no roote in the earth: for he did euen blow vpon them, and they withered, and the whirlewinde will take them away as stubble.
Kaum sind sie gepflanzt, kaum sind sie gesät, kaum hat ihr Stock Wurzeln in der Erde getrieben: da bläst er sie schon an, und sie verdorren, und ein Sturmwind rafft sie wie Stoppeln hinweg.
25 To whom nowe will ye liken me, that I should be like him, saith the Holy one?
Wem denn wollt ihr mich vergleichen, dem ich gleich wäre? spricht der Heilige.
26 Lift vp your eyes on hie, and beholde who hath created these things, and bringeth out their armies by nomber, and calleth them all by names? by the greatnesse of his power and mightie strength nothing faileth.
Hebet zur Höhe eure Augen empor und sehet: Wer hat diese da geschaffen? Er, der ihr Heer herausführt nach der Zahl, ruft sie alle mit Namen: Wegen der Größe seiner Macht und der Stärke seiner Kraft [Eig. und als Starker an Kraft] bleibt keines aus.
27 Why sayest thou, O Iaakob, and speakest O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my iudgement is passed ouer of my God?
Warum sprichst du, Jakob, und redest du, Israel: Mein Weg ist verborgen vor Jehova, und mein Recht entgeht meinem Gott?
28 Knowest thou not? or hast thou not heard, that the euerlasting God, the Lord hath created the endes of the earth? he neither fainteth, nor is wearie: there is no searching of his vnderstanding.
Weißt du es nicht? oder hast du es nicht gehört? Ein ewiger Gott ist Jehova, der Schöpfer der Enden der Erde; er ermüdet nicht und ermattet nicht, unergründlich ist sein Verstand.
29 But he giueth strength vnto him that fainteth, and vnto him that hath no strength, he encreaseth power.
Er gibt dem Müden Kraft, und dem Unvermögenden reicht er Stärke dar in Fülle.
30 Euen the yong men shall faint, and be wearie, and the yong men shall stumble and fall.
Und Jünglinge ermüden und ermatten, und junge Männer fallen hin;
31 But they that waite vpon the Lord, shall renue their strength: they shall lift vp the wings as the eagles: they shall runne, and not be wearie, and they shall walke and not faint.
aber die auf Jehova harren, gewinnen neue Kraft: sie heben die Schwingen empor wie die Adler; sie laufen und ermatten nicht, sie gehen und ermüden nicht.
