Isaiah 38
1 About that time was Hezekiah sicke vnto the death, and the Prophet Isaiah sonne of Amoz came vnto him, and sayd vnto him, Thus sayth the Lord, Put thine house in an order, for thou shalt dye, and not liue.
En ce temps-là Ézéchias fut malade à mourir. Alors Ésaïe le prophète, fils d'Amots, vint auprès de lui, et lui dit: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Donne tes ordres à ta maison, car tu vas mourir et tu ne vivras plus!
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord,
Alors Ézéchias tourna son visage contre la paroi, et fit sa prière à l'Éternel, et il dit:
3 And saide, I beseeche thee, Lord, remember nowe howe I haue walked before thee in trueth, and with a perfite heart, and haue done that which is good in thy sight: and Hezekiah wept sore.
Ah! Éternel! souviens-toi-donc que j'ai marché devant toi avec fidélité et avec l'intégrité du cœur, et que j'ai fait ce qui est bien à tes yeux. Et Ézéchias pleura beaucoup.
4 Then came the worde of the Lord to Isaiah, saying,
Alors la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Ésaïe en ces mots:
5 Goe, and say vnto Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord God of Dauid thy father, I haue heard thy prayer, and seene thy teares: behold, I will adde vnto thy dayes fifteene yeeres.
Va, et dis à Ézéchias: Ainsi parle l'Éternel, Dieu de David ton père: J'ai entendu ta prière, j'ai vu tes larmes; voici, j'ajoute à tes jours encore quinze années;
6 And I will deliuer thee out of the hand of the King of Asshur, and this citie: for I will defende this citie.
et je te sauverai, ainsi que cette ville, de la main du roi d'Assyrie, et je protégerai cette ville.
7 And this signe shalt thou haue of ye Lord, that ye Lord will do this thing that he hath spoken,
Et que ceci te soit un signe de par l'Éternel que l'Éternel fera ce qu'il a dit:
8 Beholde, I will bring againe the shadowe of the degrees (whereby it is gone downe in the diall of Ahaz by the sunne) ten degrees backeward: so the sunne returned by tenne degrees, by the which degrees it was gone downe.
Voici, je ferai rétrograder, de dix degrés en arrière, l'ombre des degrés descendue sur les degrés d'Achaz par l'effet du soleil. – Et le soleil rétrograda de dix degrés dont il était descendu sur les degrés d'Achaz.
9 The writing of Hezekiah King of Iudah, when he had bene sicke, and was recouered of his sickenesse.
Hymne d'Ézéchias, Roi de Juda, quand ayant été malade il guérit de sa maladie.
10 I saide in the cutting off of my dayes, I shall goe to the gates of the graue: I am depriued of the residue of my yeeres. (Sheol h7585)
« Je disais: Quand mes jours sont tranquilles, je descends donc aux portes des Enfers, privé du reste de ma vie! (Sheol h7585)
11 I said, I shall not see the Lord, euen the Lord in the land of the liuing: I shall see man no more among the inhabitants of the world.
Je disais: Je ne verrai plus l'Éternel, l'Éternel sur la terre des vivants, je ne verrai plus les hommes, désormais réuni aux habitants du séjour silencieux:
12 Mine habitation is departed, and is remoued from me, like a shepheards tent: I haue cut off like a weauer my life: he will cut me off from the height: from day to night, thou wilt make an ende of me.
ma loge est enlevée et emportée loin de moi comme la tente du berger, je tranche ma vie comme un tisserand, des lisses Il me détache, du jour à la nuit tu en finis avec moi!
13 I rekoned to the morning: but he brake all my bones, like a lion: from day to night wilt thou make an ende of me.
J'attendis jusqu'au matin; pareil au lion, Il brisa tous mes os; du jour à la nuit tu en finis avec moi!
14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourne as a doue: mine eies were lift vp on high: O Lord, it hath oppressed me, comfort me.
Comme l'hirondelle ou la grue je gémissais, je me lamentais comme la tourterelle, mes yeux s'épuisaient à regarder en haut: « Éternel, je suis dans l'angoisse, sauve-moi!…
15 What shall I say? for he hath said it to me, and he hath done it: I shall walke weakely all my yeeres in the bitternesse of my soule.
Que dirai-je? Il m'a promis, et Il a exécuté. Humblement je marcherai durant toutes mes années, après ce tourment de mon âme.
16 O Lord, to them that ouerliue them, and to all that are in them, the life of my spirite shalbe knowen, that thou causedst me to sleepe and hast giuen life to me.
Seigneur, c'est par là qu'on vit! c'est tout cela qui fait la vie de mon esprit; tu me fortifieras! et accorde-moi la vie!
17 Beholde, for felicitie I had bitter griefe, but it was thy pleasure to deliuer my soule from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sinnes behinde thy backe.
Voici, en salut mes tourments sont changés! dans ton amour tu tiras mon âme de la fosse du néant, car tu jetas derrière toi tous mes péchés.
18 For the graue cannot confesse thee: death cannot praise thee: they that goe downe into the pit, cannot hope for thy trueth. (Sheol h7585)
Car l'Enfer ne te loue pas, la mort ne te célèbre pas, les hommes descendus dans la fosse n'espèrent pas dans ta fidélité. (Sheol h7585)
19 But the liuing, the liuing, he shall confesse thee, as I doe this day: the father to the children shall declare thy trueth.
C'est le vivant, le vivant qui te loue, comme moi en ce jour; le père aux enfants redit ta fidélité.
20 The Lord was ready to saue me: therefore we will sing my song, all the dayes of our life in the House of the Lord.
L'Éternel me sauve, et nous ferons résonner les cordes de nos lyres tous les jours de notre vie dans la maison de l'Éternel. »
21 Then said Isaiah, Take a lumpe of drye figs and lay it vpon the boyle, and he shall recouer.
Et Ésaïe dit qu'on apportât un gâteau de figues, et qu'on les appliquât pressées sur la plaie, pour qu'il guérît.
22 Also Hezekiah had said, What is ye signe, that I shall goe vp into the House of the Lord?
Et Ézéchias dit: A quel signe saurai-je que je monterai à la maison de l'Éternel?
