Isaiah 38
1 About that time was Hezekiah sicke vnto the death, and the Prophet Isaiah sonne of Amoz came vnto him, and sayd vnto him, Thus sayth the Lord, Put thine house in an order, for thou shalt dye, and not liue.
En ces jours-là, Ézéchias tomba malade d'une maladie mortelle, et le prophète Isaïe, fils d'Amos, l'alla trouver, et lui dit: Ainsi parle le Seigneur: Donne tes ordres concernant ta maison; car tu mourras, et tu n'as plus guère à vivre.
2 Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the Lord,
Et Ézéchias se retourna la face contre le mur, et il pria le Seigneur,
3 And saide, I beseeche thee, Lord, remember nowe howe I haue walked before thee in trueth, and with a perfite heart, and haue done that which is good in thy sight: and Hezekiah wept sore.
Disant: Seigneur, souvenez-vous que j'ai marché devant vous dans la vérité, avec un cœur sincère, et que j'ai fait ce qui était agréable à vos yeux. Et Ézéchias pleura des larmes abondantes.
4 Then came the worde of the Lord to Isaiah, saying,
Et la parole du Seigneur vint à Isaïe, disant:
5 Goe, and say vnto Hezekiah, Thus saith the Lord God of Dauid thy father, I haue heard thy prayer, and seene thy teares: behold, I will adde vnto thy dayes fifteene yeeres.
Va et dis à Ézéchias: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, Dieu de David, ton aïeul: J'ai entendu ta prière, et j'ai vu tes larmes, et voilà que j'ajoute quinze années à ta vie.
6 And I will deliuer thee out of the hand of the King of Asshur, and this citie: for I will defende this citie.
Et je te sauverai, toi et cette ville, du roi des Assyriens, et j'étendrai mon bouclier sur cette ville.
7 And this signe shalt thou haue of ye Lord, that ye Lord will do this thing that he hath spoken,
Tel est le signe du Seigneur qui te montrera que sa parole s'accomplira:
8 Beholde, I will bring againe the shadowe of the degrees (whereby it is gone downe in the diall of Ahaz by the sunne) ten degrees backeward: so the sunne returned by tenne degrees, by the which degrees it was gone downe.
Voilà que je vais faire reculer l'ombre des marches où le soleil est descendu, de dix degrés sur la maison de ton père; je ferai reculer le soleil de ces dix degrés. Et le soleil remonta les dix marches que l'ombre avait descendues.
9 The writing of Hezekiah King of Iudah, when he had bene sicke, and was recouered of his sickenesse.
Prière d'Ézéchias roi de Juda, quand il avait été malade, et qu'il se releva de sa maladie.
10 I saide in the cutting off of my dayes, I shall goe to the gates of the graue: I am depriued of the residue of my yeeres. (Sheol h7585)
J'ai dit: Dans la plénitude de mes jours, je descendrai aux portes de l'enfer, j'abandonnerai le reste de mes années. (Sheol h7585)
11 I said, I shall not see the Lord, euen the Lord in the land of the liuing: I shall see man no more among the inhabitants of the world.
J'ai dit: Je ne verrai plus le salut de Dieu sur la terre des vivants; je ne verrai plus le salut d'Israël sur la terre; je ne verrai plus aucun homme.
12 Mine habitation is departed, and is remoued from me, like a shepheards tent: I haue cut off like a weauer my life: he will cut me off from the height: from day to night, thou wilt make an ende of me.
Le reste de ma vie a disparu, il a été retranché de ma race; il s'en est allé et il m'a quitté, comme le voyageur qui replie sa tente après l'avoir dressée; mon souffle est comme un fil de laine dont l'ouvrière s'approche pour le couper.
13 I rekoned to the morning: but he brake all my bones, like a lion: from day to night wilt thou make an ende of me.
En ce jour, avant l'aurore, j'ai été livré comme à un lion; c'est ainsi qu'il a broyé tous mes os; car je lui ai été livré depuis le point du jour jusqu'à la nuit.
14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourne as a doue: mine eies were lift vp on high: O Lord, it hath oppressed me, comfort me.
Je crierai comme l'hirondelle, je gémirai comme la colombe; car mes yeux se sont obscurcis à force de regarder au plus haut des cieux vers le Seigneur, qui enfin m'a relevé,
15 What shall I say? for he hath said it to me, and he hath done it: I shall walke weakely all my yeeres in the bitternesse of my soule.
qui m'a ôté les douleurs de mon âme.
16 O Lord, to them that ouerliue them, and to all that are in them, the life of my spirite shalbe knowen, that thou causedst me to sleepe and hast giuen life to me.
Seigneur, vous m'avez fait connaître votre volonté sur ma vie, et vous avez ranimé mon souffle; et consolé j'ai vécu.
17 Beholde, for felicitie I had bitter griefe, but it was thy pleasure to deliuer my soule from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sinnes behinde thy backe.
Vous avez délivré mon âme pour m'empêcher de mourir; et vous avez rejeté derrière moi tous mes péchés.
18 For the graue cannot confesse thee: death cannot praise thee: they that goe downe into the pit, cannot hope for thy trueth. (Sheol h7585)
Car ceux qui sont en enfer ne vous loueront point, les morts ne vous béniront pas; en enfer on n'espère plus en votre miséricorde. (Sheol h7585)
19 But the liuing, the liuing, he shall confesse thee, as I doe this day: the father to the children shall declare thy trueth.
Les vivants vous béniront, comme je le fais moi-même; à partir de ce jour, j'enseignerai des enfants à publier votre justice.
20 The Lord was ready to saue me: therefore we will sing my song, all the dayes of our life in the House of the Lord.
Dieu de mon salut, je ne cesserai de vous bénir au son de la harpe, tous les jours de ma vie, devant le temple de Dieu.
21 Then said Isaiah, Take a lumpe of drye figs and lay it vpon the boyle, and he shall recouer.
Et Isaïe dit à Ézéchias: Prends un panier de figues, écrase-les, et te les applique, et tu seras guéri.
22 Also Hezekiah had said, What is ye signe, that I shall goe vp into the House of the Lord?
Et Ézéchias dit: Quel miracle qu'Ézéchias puisse monter encore au temple de Dieu!
