Isaiah 36
1 Nowe in the fourteenth yeere of King Hezekiah, Saneherib King of Asshur came vp against al the strong cities of Iudah, and tooke them.
Aconteció en el año catorce del rey Ezequías, que Sennaquerib rey de Asiria subió contra todas las ciudades fuertes de Judá, y las tomó.
2 And the King of Asshur sent Rabshakeh from Lachish toward Ierusalem vnto King Hezekiah, with a great hoste, and he stood by ye conduite of the vpper poole in the path of the fullers fielde.
Y el rey de Asiria envió a Rabsaces con gran ejército desde Laquis a Jerusalén al rey Ezequías; y asentó el campo a los caños de la pesquera de arriba, en el camino de la heredad del Lavador.
3 Then came foorth vnto him Eliakim the sonne of Hilkiah the steward of the house, and Shebna the chanceler, and Ioah the sonne of Asaph the recorder.
Y salió a él Eliacim hijo de Hilcías, mayordomo, y Sebna, escriba, y Joa hijo de Asaf, canciller.
4 And Rabshakeh sayde vnto them, Tell you Hezekiah, I pray you, Thus sayth the great King, the King of Asshur, What confidence is this, wherein thou trustest?
A los cuales dijo Rabsaces: Ahora pues, diréis a Ezequías: El gran rey, el rey de Asiria, dice así: ¿Qué confianza es ésta en que confías?
5 I say, Surely I haue eloquence, but counsell and strength are for the warre: on whom then doest thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
Digo, alegas tú, (empero palabras vanas) que tengo consejo y fortaleza para la guerra. Ahora bien, ¿en quién confías que te rebelas contra mí?
6 Loe, thou trustest in this broken staffe of reede on Egypt, whereupon if a man leane, it will goe into his hand, and pearce it: so is Pharaoh King of Egypt, vnto all that trust in him.
He aquí que confías en este bordón de caña frágil, en Egipto, sobre el cual si alguien se apoyare, entrarásele por la mano, y se la atravesará. Tal es Faraón rey de Egipto para con todos los que en él confían.
7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the Lord our God. Is not that he, whose hie places and whose altars Hezekiah tooke downe, and said to Iudah and to Ierusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
Y si me dijeres: En el SEÑOR nuestro Dios confiamos, ¿no es éste aquel cuyos altos y cuyos altares hizo quitar Ezequías, y dijo a Judá y a Jerusalén: Delante de este altar adoraréis?
8 Nowe therefore giue hostages to my lorde the King of Asshur, and I wil giue thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders vpon them.
Ahora, pues, yo te ruego que des rehenes al rey de Asiria mi señor; y yo te daré dos mil caballos, si pudieres tú dar caballeros que cabalguen sobre ellos.
9 For howe canst thou despise any captaine of the least of my lordes seruants? and put thy trust on Egypt for charets and for horsemen?
¿Cómo, pues, harás volver el rostro de un capitán de los más pequeños siervos de mi Señor, aunque estés confiado en Egipto por sus carros y hombres de a caballo?
10 And am I now come vp without the Lord to this land to destroy it? The Lord sayd vnto me, Goe vp against this land and destroy it.
¿Y por ventura vine yo ahora a esta tierra para destruirla sin el SEÑOR? El SEÑOR me dijo: Sube a esta tierra para destruirla.
11 Then sayd Eliakim and Shebna and Ioah vnto Rabshakeh, Speake, I pray thee, to thy seruants in the Aramites language, (for we vnderstand it) and talke not with vs in the Iewes tongue, in the audience of the people that are on the wall.
Entonces dijo Eliacim, y Sebna y Joa a Rabsaces: Te rogamos que hables a tus siervos en lengua de Asiria, porque nosotros la entendemos; y no hables con nosotros en lengua judaica, oyéndolo el pueblo que está sobre el muro.
12 Then said Rabshakeh, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee to speake these wordes, and not to the men that sit on the wall? that they may eate their owne doung, and drinke their owne pisse with you?
Y dijo Rabsaces: ¿Me envió mi señor a ti y a tu señor, a que dijese estas palabras, o a los hombres, que están sobre el muro para comer su estiércol, y beber su orina con vosotros?
13 So Rabshakeh stood, and cryed with a loude voyce in the Iewes language, and sayd, Heare the wordes of the great King, of the King of Asshur.
Y se paró Rabsaces, y gritó a gran voz en lengua judaica, diciendo: Oíd las palabras del gran rey, el rey de Asiria.
14 Thus saith the King, Let not Hezekiah deceiue you: for he shall not be able to deliuer you.
El rey dice así: No os engañe Ezequías, porque no os podrá librar.
15 Neither let Hezekiah make you to trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliuer vs: this citie shall not be giuen ouer into the hand of the King of Asshur.
Ni os haga Ezequías confiar en el SEÑOR, diciendo: Ciertamente el SEÑOR nos librará; no será entregada esta ciudad en la mano del rey de Asiria.
16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus sayth the King of Asshur, Make appointment with me, and come out to me, that euery man may eate of his owne vine, and euery man of his owne fig tree, and drinke euery man the water of his owne well,
No escuchéis a Ezequías, porque el rey de Asiria dice así: Haced conmigo paz, y salid a mí; y coma cada uno de su viña, y cada uno de su higuera, y beba cada cual las aguas de su pozo.
17 Till I come and bring you to a land like your owne land, euen a land of wheate, and wine, a land of bread and vineyardes,
Hasta que yo venga, y os lleve a una tierra como la vuestra, tierra de grano y de vino, tierra de pan y de viñas.
18 Least Hezekiah deceiue you, saying, The Lord wil deliuer vs. Hath any of the gods of the nations deliuered his land out of the hand of the King of Asshur?
Mirad no os engañe Ezequías diciendo: El SEÑOR nos librará. ¿Libraron los dioses de los gentiles cada uno a su tierra de la mano del rey de Asiria?
19 Where is the god of Hamath, and of Arpad? where is the god of Sepharuaim? or howe haue they deliuered Samaria out of mine hand?
¿Dónde está el dios de Hamat y de Arfad? ¿Dónde está el dios de Sefarvaim? ¿Libraron a Samaria de mi mano?
20 Who is hee among all the gods of these lands, that hath deliuered their countrey out of mine hand, that the Lord should deliuer Ierusalem out of mine hand?
¿Qué dios hay entre todos los dioses de estas tierras, que haya librado su tierra de mi mano, para que el SEÑOR libre de mi mano a Jerusalén?
21 Then they kept silence, and answered him not a worde: for the Kings commandement was, saying, Answere him not.
Mas callaron, y no le respondieron palabra, porque el Rey así lo había mandado, diciendo: No le respondáis.
22 Then came Eliakim the sonne of Hilkiah the steward of the house, and Shebna the chanceller, and Ioah the sonne of Asaph the recorder, vnto Hezekiah with rent clothes, and tolde him the wordes of Rabshakeh.
Entonces Eliacim hijo de Hilcías mayordomo, y Sebna escriba, y Joa hijo de Asaf canciller, vinieron a Ezequías rotos sus vestidos; y le contaron las palabras de Rabsaces.
