Isaiah 36
1 Nowe in the fourteenth yeere of King Hezekiah, Saneherib King of Asshur came vp against al the strong cities of Iudah, and tooke them.
Im vierzehnten Jahre des Königs Hiskia zog Sanherib, der König von Assyrien, wider alle festen Städte Judas herauf und nahm sie ein.
2 And the King of Asshur sent Rabshakeh from Lachish toward Ierusalem vnto King Hezekiah, with a great hoste, and he stood by ye conduite of the vpper poole in the path of the fullers fielde.
Da sandte der assyrische König den Rabschake von Lachis gen Jerusalem wider den König Hiskia mit großer Heeresmacht; der stellte sich bei der Wasserleitung des obern Teiches an der Straße des Walkerfeldes auf.
3 Then came foorth vnto him Eliakim the sonne of Hilkiah the steward of the house, and Shebna the chanceler, and Ioah the sonne of Asaph the recorder.
Da gingen zu ihm hinaus Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, der über den Palast gesetzt war, und Sebna, der Schreiber, und Joah, der Sohn Asaphs, der Kanzler.
4 And Rabshakeh sayde vnto them, Tell you Hezekiah, I pray you, Thus sayth the great King, the King of Asshur, What confidence is this, wherein thou trustest?
Und Rabschake sprach zu ihnen: Saget doch dem Hiskia: So spricht der große König, der König von Assur: Was ist das für eine Stütze, darauf du dich verlässest?
5 I say, Surely I haue eloquence, but counsell and strength are for the warre: on whom then doest thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
Ich erkläre es für leeres Geschwätz, wenn du sagst, du habest Rat und Macht zum Kriege! Auf wen verlässest du dich nun, daß du von mir abtrünnig geworden bist?
6 Loe, thou trustest in this broken staffe of reede on Egypt, whereupon if a man leane, it will goe into his hand, and pearce it: so is Pharaoh King of Egypt, vnto all that trust in him.
Siehe, du verlässest dich auf jenen zerbrochenen Rohrstab, auf Ägypten, der einem jeden, der sich darauf lehnt, in die Hand fährt und sie durchbohrt! So ist der Pharao, der König von Ägypten, allen denen, die sich auf ihn verlassen.
7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the Lord our God. Is not that he, whose hie places and whose altars Hezekiah tooke downe, and said to Iudah and to Ierusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
Wenn du aber zu mir sagen wolltest: «Wir verlassen uns auf den HERRN, unsern Gott» ist das nicht der, dessen Höhen und Altäre Hiskia abgetan und der zu Juda und Jerusalem gesagt hat: Vor diesem Altar sollt ihr anbeten?
8 Nowe therefore giue hostages to my lorde the King of Asshur, and I wil giue thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders vpon them.
Nun wohlan, wette einmal mit meinem Herrn, dem assyrischen König: ich will dir zweitausend Pferde geben; laß sehen, ob du Reiter dazu stellen kannst.
9 For howe canst thou despise any captaine of the least of my lordes seruants? and put thy trust on Egypt for charets and for horsemen?
Wie wolltest du denn einem der geringsten Fürsten von meines Herrn Knechten widerstehen? Und du verlässest dich auf Ägypten um der Wagen und Reiter willen!
10 And am I now come vp without the Lord to this land to destroy it? The Lord sayd vnto me, Goe vp against this land and destroy it.
Zudem, meinst du, daß ich ohne Befehl des HERRN heraufgezogen bin, um dieses Land zu verderben? Der HERR selbst hat zu mir gesprochen: Ziehe hinauf in dieses Land, daß du es verderbest!
11 Then sayd Eliakim and Shebna and Ioah vnto Rabshakeh, Speake, I pray thee, to thy seruants in the Aramites language, (for we vnderstand it) and talke not with vs in the Iewes tongue, in the audience of the people that are on the wall.
Da sprachen Eljakim, Sebna und Joah zu Rabschake: Rede doch mit deinen Knechten in aramäischer Sprache; denn wir verstehen sie wohl, und rede nicht judäisch mit uns vor den Ohren des Volks, das auf der Mauer liegt.
12 Then said Rabshakeh, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee to speake these wordes, and not to the men that sit on the wall? that they may eate their owne doung, and drinke their owne pisse with you?
Da antwortete Rabschake: Hat mich denn mein HERR zu deinem Herrn oder zu dir gesandt, daß ich solche Worte rede? Hat er mich nicht zu den Männern gesandt, die auf der Mauer liegen und mit euch ihren Kot essen und ihren Harn trinken?
13 So Rabshakeh stood, and cryed with a loude voyce in the Iewes language, and sayd, Heare the wordes of the great King, of the King of Asshur.
Also trat Rabschake hervor und schrie mit lauter Stimme auf judäisch und sprach: Höret die Worte des großen Königs, des Königs von Assyrien!
14 Thus saith the King, Let not Hezekiah deceiue you: for he shall not be able to deliuer you.
So spricht der König: Lasset euch von Hiskia nicht verführen; denn er wird euch nicht erretten können.
15 Neither let Hezekiah make you to trust in the Lord, saying, The Lord will surely deliuer vs: this citie shall not be giuen ouer into the hand of the King of Asshur.
Lasset euch von Hiskia auch nicht auf den HERRN vertrösten, indem er spricht: Der HERR wird uns gewiß erretten, und diese Stadt wird nicht in die Hand des Königs von Assyrien gegeben werden.
16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus sayth the King of Asshur, Make appointment with me, and come out to me, that euery man may eate of his owne vine, and euery man of his owne fig tree, and drinke euery man the water of his owne well,
Folget dem Hiskia nicht! Denn also spricht der König von Assyrien: Machet Frieden mit mir und kommt zu mir heraus, so soll jedermann von seinem Weinstock und von seinem Feigenbaum essen und das Wasser seines Brunnens trinken,
17 Till I come and bring you to a land like your owne land, euen a land of wheate, and wine, a land of bread and vineyardes,
bis ich komme und euch in ein Land führe, das eurem Lande gleich ist, ein Land, darin Korn und Most ist, ein Land, darin Brot und Weinberge sind.
18 Least Hezekiah deceiue you, saying, The Lord wil deliuer vs. Hath any of the gods of the nations deliuered his land out of the hand of the King of Asshur?
Lasset euch von Hiskia nicht verführen, wenn er spricht: Der HERR wird uns erretten! Haben etwa die Götter der Heiden ein jeder sein Land aus der Hand des assyrischen Königs erretten können?
19 Where is the god of Hamath, and of Arpad? where is the god of Sepharuaim? or howe haue they deliuered Samaria out of mine hand?
Wo sind die Götter zu Chamat und Arpad? Wo sind die Götter zu Sepharvaim? Haben sie auch Samaria von meiner Hand errettet?
20 Who is hee among all the gods of these lands, that hath deliuered their countrey out of mine hand, that the Lord should deliuer Ierusalem out of mine hand?
Wer ist unter allen Göttern dieser Länder, der sein Land von meiner Hand errettet habe, daß der HERR Jerusalem von meiner Hand erretten sollte?
21 Then they kept silence, and answered him not a worde: for the Kings commandement was, saying, Answere him not.
Sie schwiegen aber still und antworteten ihm nicht ein Wort; denn der König hatte geboten und gesagt: Antwortet ihm nichts!
22 Then came Eliakim the sonne of Hilkiah the steward of the house, and Shebna the chanceller, and Ioah the sonne of Asaph the recorder, vnto Hezekiah with rent clothes, and tolde him the wordes of Rabshakeh.
Also kamen Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkias, der über den Palast gesetzt war, und Sebna, der Schreiber, und Joah, der Sohn Asaphs, der Kanzler, zu Hiskia mit zerrissenen Kleidern und berichteten ihm die Worte Rabschakes.
