< Isaiah 3 >
1 For lo, the Lord God of hostes will take away from Ierusalem and from Iudah the stay and the strength: euen all the staye of bread, and all the stay of water,
No te mea tenei te Ariki, a Ihowa o nga mano, te tango atu nei i Hiruharama, i a Hura, i te titoko me te tokotoko, i te titoko taro katoa, i te titoko wai katoa;
2 The strong man, and the man of warre, the iudge and the prophet, the prudent and the aged,
I te marohirohi, i te tangata whawhai; i te kaiwhakawa, i te poropiti, i te tohunga, i te tautahito;
3 The captaine of fiftie, and the honourable, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent man.
4 And I will appoint children to bee their princes, and babes shall rule ouer them.
Ka hoatu ano e ahau he tamariki hei rangatira mo ratou, he kohungahunga hoki hei kingi mo ratou.
5 The people shalbe oppressed one of another, and euery one by his neighbour: the children shall presume against the ancient, and the vile against the honourable.
6 When euery one shall take holde of his brother of the house of his father, and say, Thou hast clothing: thou shalt bee our prince, and let this fall be vnder thine hand.
E mau hoki te tangata ki tona tuakana, i te whare o tona papa, a ka mea, He kakahu tou, hei rangatira koe mo matou, a hei raro i tou ringa tenei whakatakanga:
7 In that day hee shall sweare, saying, I cannot bee an helper: for there is no bread in mine house, nor clothing: therefore make me no prince of the people.
A taua ra ka karanga nui ia, ka mea, E kore ahau e pai hei kaiwhakaora; kahore hoki he taro i toku whare, kahore he kakahu: kaua ahau e meinga e koutou hei rangatira mo te iwi.
8 Doubtlesse Ierusalem is fallen, and Iudah is fallen downe, because their tongue and workes are against the Lord, to prouoke the eyes of his glory.
Kua taka hoki a Hiurharama, kua hinga a Hura; kua whawhai nei hoki to ratou arero, me a ratou mahi, ki a Ihowa, whakapataritari ai i nga kanohi o tona kororia.
9 The triall of their countenance testifieth against them, yea, they declare their sinnes as Sodom, they hide them not. Wo be vnto their soules: for they haue rewarded euil vnto themselues.
Ko te titiro hoki a o ratou kanohi hei kaiwhakaatu mo to ratou he; e pera ana me Horoma e whakapuaki ana i o ratou hara, kahore e huna.
10 Say ye, Surely it shalbe well with the iust: for they shall eate the fruite of their workes.
11 Woe be to the wicked, it shalbe euill with him: for the reward of his handes shalbe giuen him.
Aue te mate mo te tangata kino! ko te he mona: ka riro hoki i a ia te utu o ta ona ringa.
12 Children are extortioners of my people, and women haue rule ouer them: O my people, they that leade thee, cause thee to erre, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Tena ko taku iwi, he tamariki o ratou kaitukino, he wahine hoki e kingi ana mo ratou. E taku iwi, ko ou kaiarahi kei te whakapohehe i a koe, kei te whakakahore hoki i te tikanga o ou huarahi.
13 The Lord standeth vp to pleade, yea, hee standeth to iudge the people.
E whakatika ake ana a Ihowa ki te tohe, e tu ana ia ki te whakawa i nga iwi.
14 The Lord shall enter into iudgement with the Ancients of his people and the princes thereof: for ye haue eaten vp the vineyarde: the spoyle of the poore is in your houses.
Ka timata ta Ihowa whakawa i nga kaumatua o tana iwi, i ona rangatira ano hoki: Ko koutou nana i pau ai te mara waina; ko nga taonga a nga rawakore i pahuatia kei roto i o koutou whare:
15 What haue ye to do, that ye beate my people to pieces, and grinde the faces of the poore, saith the Lord, euen the Lord of hoasts?
He aha ta koutou tikanga i kuru ai koutou i taku iwi, i orohina ai e koutou nga mata o nga rawakore? e ai ta te Ariki, ta Ihowa o nga mano.
16 The Lord also saith, Because the daughters of Zion are hautie, and walke with stretched out neckes, and with wandering eyes, walking and minsing as they goe, and making a tinkeling with their feete,
Na i mea ano a Ihowa, Na i te mea e whakapehapeha ana nga tamahine o Hiona, e haere ana me te uatoko o nga kaki, me te takataka o nga karu, ka whakameamea, me te tatangi ano nga waewae:
17 Therefore shall the Lord make the heades of the daughters of Zion balde, and the Lord shall discouer their secrete partes.
18 In that day shall the Lord take away the ornament of the slippers, and the calles, and the round tyres,
I taua ra ka kore i te Ariki te ataahua o nga mea tatangi o nga waewae, o nga whakapaipai ripekapeka, o nga heitiki;
19 The sweete balles, and the brasselets, and the bonnets,
Nga mekameka, nga poroporo me nga arai kanohi,
20 The tyres of the head, and the sloppes, and the head bandes, and the tablets, and the earings,
Nga potae, nga whakapaipai o nga waewae, nga pakawe, nga pouaka hongihongi me nga whakakai,
21 The rings and the mufflers,
Nga mowhiti, nga whakapaipai o te ihu,
22 The costly apparell and the vailes, and the wimples, and the crisping pinnes,
Nga kakahu whakapaipai, nga koroka, nga hooro me nga pukoro,
23 And the glasses and the fine linen, and the hoodes, and the launes.
Nga whakaata me te rinena pai, nga potae me nga arai whakapaipai.
24 And in steade of sweete sauour, there shall be stinke, and in steade of a girdle, a rent, and in steade of dressing of the heare, baldnesse, and in steade of a stomacher, a girding of sackecloth, and burning in steade of beautie.
Na he kakara pai i mua, tera e puta ake he piro; he whitiki, tuku iho he tawhetawhe; he koukou huatau, tau iho he pakira kau; he tatua whakapaipai, kopakina iho ki te kakahu taratara: he ataahua, hunuhunua ake.
25 Thy men shall fall by the sworde, and thy strength in the battell.
Ka hinga ou tangata i te hoari, ou marohirohi i te whawhaitanga.
26 Then shall her gates mourne and lament, and she, being desolate, shall sit vpon the ground.
Ka tangi, ka aue ona kuwaha; a ka mokemoke ia, ka tau ki te whenua.
