Isaiah 3
1 For lo, the Lord God of hostes will take away from Ierusalem and from Iudah the stay and the strength: euen all the staye of bread, and all the stay of water,
Perciocchè, ecco, il Signore, il Signor degli eserciti, toglie via di Gerusalemme e di Giuda [ogni] sostegno ed appoggio; ogni sostegno di pane, ed ogni sostegno di acqua;
2 The strong man, and the man of warre, the iudge and the prophet, the prudent and the aged,
il forte e il guerriero; il giudice e il profeta; e l'indovino e l'anziano;
3 The captaine of fiftie, and the honourable, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent man.
il capitano di cinquantina, e l'uomo d'autorità, e il consigliere, e l'artefice industrioso, e l'[uomo] intendente nelle parole segrete.
4 And I will appoint children to bee their princes, and babes shall rule ouer them.
Ed io farò, che de' giovanetti saranno lor principi, e che de' fanciulli li signoreggeranno.
5 The people shalbe oppressed one of another, and euery one by his neighbour: the children shall presume against the ancient, and the vile against the honourable.
E il popolo sarà oppressato l'uno dall'altro, e ciascuno dal suo prossimo; il fanciullo superbirà contro al vecchio, e il vile contro all'onorevole.
6 When euery one shall take holde of his brother of the house of his father, and say, Thou hast clothing: thou shalt bee our prince, and let this fall be vnder thine hand.
Se alcuno prende un suo fratello, della casa di suo padre, [dicendo: ] Tu hai una veste, sii nostro principe, e [sia] questa ruina sotto alla tua mano,
7 In that day hee shall sweare, saying, I cannot bee an helper: for there is no bread in mine house, nor clothing: therefore make me no prince of the people.
egli giurerà in quel giorno, dicendo: Io non sarò signore; e in casa mia non [vi è] nè pane, nè vestimento; non mi costituite principe del popolo.
8 Doubtlesse Ierusalem is fallen, and Iudah is fallen downe, because their tongue and workes are against the Lord, to prouoke the eyes of his glory.
Perciocchè Gerusalemme è traboccata, e Giuda è caduto; perchè la lingua e le opere loro [son] contro al Signore, per provocare ad ira gli occhi della sua gloria.
9 The triall of their countenance testifieth against them, yea, they declare their sinnes as Sodom, they hide them not. Wo be vnto their soules: for they haue rewarded euil vnto themselues.
Ciò che si riconosce loro nella faccia testifica contro a loro; ed essi pubblicano il lor peccato come Sodoma, [e] non lo celano. Guai alle anime loro! perciocchè fanno male a sè stessi.
10 Say ye, Surely it shalbe well with the iust: for they shall eate the fruite of their workes.
Dite al giusto, che [gli avverrà] bene; perciocchè [i giusti] mangeranno il frutto delle loro opere.
11 Woe be to the wicked, it shalbe euill with him: for the reward of his handes shalbe giuen him.
Guai all'empio! male [gli avverrà]; perciocchè gli sarà fatta la retribuzione delle sue mani.
12 Children are extortioners of my people, and women haue rule ouer them: O my people, they that leade thee, cause thee to erre, and destroy the way of thy paths.
Gli oppressatori del mio popolo [sono] fanciulli, e donne lo signoreggiano. Popol mio, quelli che ti predicano beato [ti] fanno traviare, e fanno andare in perdizione la via de' tuoi sentieri.
13 The Lord standeth vp to pleade, yea, hee standeth to iudge the people.
Il Signore comparisce, per contendere; e si presenta, per giudicare i popoli.
14 The Lord shall enter into iudgement with the Ancients of his people and the princes thereof: for ye haue eaten vp the vineyarde: the spoyle of the poore is in your houses.
Il Signore verrà in giudicio contro agli anziani del suo popolo, e contro a' principi di esso; voi siete pur quelli che avete guasta la vigna; la preda del povero [è] nelle vostre case.
15 What haue ye to do, that ye beate my people to pieces, and grinde the faces of the poore, saith the Lord, euen the Lord of hoasts?
Perchè tritate il mio popolo, e pestate le facce dei poveri? dice il Signore, il Signor degli eserciti.
16 The Lord also saith, Because the daughters of Zion are hautie, and walke with stretched out neckes, and with wandering eyes, walking and minsing as they goe, and making a tinkeling with their feete,
Oltre a ciò, il Signore ha detto: Perciocchè le figliuole di Sion si sono innalzate, e son camminate a gola stesa, ed ammiccando con gli occhi; [e] son camminate carolando, ed hanno fatto tintinno co' lor piedi;
17 Therefore shall the Lord make the heades of the daughters of Zion balde, and the Lord shall discouer their secrete partes.
il Signore pelerà la sommità del capo delle figliuole di Sion, e il Signore scoprirà le lor vergogne.
18 In that day shall the Lord take away the ornament of the slippers, and the calles, and the round tyres,
In quel giorno il Signore torrà via l'ornamento delle pianelle, i calzamenti fatti ad occhietti, e le lunette;
19 The sweete balles, and the brasselets, and the bonnets,
le collane, e i monili, e le maniglie;
20 The tyres of the head, and the sloppes, and the head bandes, and the tablets, and the earings,
i fregi, e i legaccioli da gamba, e le bende, e i bossoli d'odori, e gli orecchini;
21 The rings and the mufflers,
gli anelli, e i monili pendenti in sul naso;
22 The costly apparell and the vailes, and the wimples, and the crisping pinnes,
le robe da festa, e i mantelletti, e i veli, e gli spilletti;
23 And the glasses and the fine linen, and the hoodes, and the launes.
gli specchi, e gli zendadi, e le mitrie, e le gonne.
24 And in steade of sweete sauour, there shall be stinke, and in steade of a girdle, a rent, and in steade of dressing of the heare, baldnesse, and in steade of a stomacher, a girding of sackecloth, and burning in steade of beautie.
Ed avverrà che, in luogo di buono odore, vi sarà marcia; e in luogo di cintura, squarciatura; e in luogo d'increspatura [di capelli], calvezza; e in luogo di fascia da petto, cinto di sacco; e in luogo di bellezza, arsura.
25 Thy men shall fall by the sworde, and thy strength in the battell.
I tuoi uomini cadranno per la spada, e i tuoi uomini prodi nella battaglia.
26 Then shall her gates mourne and lament, and she, being desolate, shall sit vpon the ground.
E le porte di Gerusalemme si lamenteranno, e faranno cordoglio; ed ella, dopo essere stata vuotata, giacerà per terra.
