Isaiah 26
1 In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Iudah, We haue a strong citie: saluation shall God set for walles and bulwarkes.
En ce jour-là, on chantera ce cantique en la terre de Juda: Voilà une ville forte, son mur et son avant-mur seront notre salut.
2 Open ye the gates that the righteous nation, which keepeth the trueth, may enter in.
Ouvrez les portes; laissez entrer un peuple qui garde la justice et garde la vérité;
3 By an assured purpose wilt thou preserue perfite peace, because they trusted in thee.
Qui reçoive la vérité et maintienne la paix.
4 Trust in the Lord for euer: for in the Lord God is strength for euermore.
C'est en vous qu'ils ont éternellement espéré, Seigneur, Dieu grand et éternel.
5 For hee will bring downe them that dwell on hie: the hie citie he will abase: euen vnto the ground wil he cast it downe, and bring it vnto dust.
C'est vous qui avez humilié et fait descendre ceux qui habitaient les hauts lieux. C'est vous qui renverserez les villes fortes, et les égalerez au sol.
6 The foote shall treade it downe, euen the feete of the poore, and the steppes of the needie.
Et les doux et les humbles les fouleront aux pieds.
7 The way of the iust is righteousnesse: thou wilt make equall the righteous path of the iust.
La voie des hommes pieux est droite; la voie des hommes pieux leur a été d'avance préparée.
8 Also we, O Lord, haue waited for thee in the way of thy iudgemets: the desire of our soule is to thy Name, and to the remembrance of thee.
Car la voie du Seigneur est la justice. Nous avons espéré en votre nom dans le souvenir et le désir de notre âme.
9 With my soule haue I desired thee in the night, and with my spirit within mee will I seeke thee in the morning: for seeing thy iudgements are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world shall learne righteousnesse.
Avant l'aurore, mon esprit s'élève vers vous, ô mon Dieu, parce que vos commandements sont la lumière du monde. Apprenez la justice, vous qui habitez la terre.
10 Let mercie bee shewed to the wicked, yet hee will not learne righteousnesse: in the land of vprightnesse will he do wickedly, and will not beholde the maiestie of the Lord.
Car c'en est fait de l'impie. Quiconque sur la terre n'apprend pas la justice ne pratiquera pas la vérité. Que l'impie disparaisse, afin de ne point voir la gloire du Seigneur.
11 O Lord, they will not beholde thine hie hande: but they shall see it, and bee confounded with the zeale of the people, and the fire of thine enemies shall deuoure them.
Seigneur, votre bras est levé, et ils ne le savaient pas, et, le sachant, ils seront confondus. La jalousie saisira ce peuple ignorant, et le feu dévorera les ennemis du Seigneur.
12 Lord, vnto vs thou wilt ordeine peace: for thou also hast wrought all our workes for vs.
Seigneur, notre Dieu, donnez-nous la paix; car vous nous avez tout donné.
13 O Lord our God, other lords beside thee, haue ruled vs, but we will remember thee onely, and thy Name.
Seigneur, notre Dieu, prenez possession de nous; Seigneur, nous ne connaissons pas d'autre Dieu que vous, d'autre nom que votre nom.
14 The dead shall not liue, neither shall the dead arise, because thou hast visited and scattered them, and destroyed all their memorie.
Les morts ne verront point la vie, les médecins ne les ressusciteront pas. C'est pourquoi vous les avez visités, vous les avez punis, vous leur avez enlevé tous leurs enfants mâles.
15 Thou hast increased the nation, O Lord: thou hast increased the nation: thou art made glorious: thou hast enlarged all the coastes of the earth.
Ajoutez à leurs maux, Seigneur, ajoutez aux maux des superbes de la terre.
16 Lord, in trouble haue they visited thee: they powred out a prayer when thy chastening was vpon them.
Seigneur, dans l'affliction je me suis souvenu de vous; vous nous frappez d'une affliction légère pour nous instruire.
17 Like as a woman with childe, that draweth neere to the trauaile, is in sorow, and cryeth in her paines, so haue we bene in thy sight, O Lord.
Et comme une femme en mal d'enfant et près d'être délivrée pousse des cris en sa douleur, ainsi avons-nous fait pour votre bien-aimé.
18 We haue coceiued, we haue borne in paine, as though we should haue brought forth winde: there was no helpe in the earth, neither did the inhabitants of the world fall.
Nous avons conçu dans votre crainte, Seigneur, nous avons été dans les douleurs de l'enfantement, et nous avons enfanté votre esprit de salut, et par lui nous avons produit des œuvres sur la terre.
19 Thy dead men shall liue: euen with my body shall they rise. Awake, and sing, ye that dwel in dust: for thy dewe is as the dew of herbes, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
Les morts ressusciteront, et ceux qui sont dans leurs sépulcres se lèveront, et ceux qui sont sur la terre tressailliront de joie; car la rosée qui vient de vous est leur guérison, et la terre des impies périra.
20 Come, my people: enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doores after thee: hide thy selfe for a very litle while, vntill the indignation passe ouer.
Va, mon peuple, entre dans ton appartement secret, ferme ta porte, cache- toi un peu, bien peu de temps, jusqu'à ce que la colère du Seigneur soit passée.
21 For lo, the Lord commeth out of his place, to visite the iniquitie of the inhabitants of the earth vpon them: and the earth shall disclose her blood, and shall no more hide her slaine.
Car voilà que le Seigneur, de son lieu saint, amène sa colère sur les habitants de la terre, et la terre montrera le sang qu'elle a bu, et elle ne recèlera plus ceux qu'on avait tués.
