Isaiah 21
1 The burden of the desert Sea. As the whirlewindes in the South vse to passe from the wildernesse, so shall it come from the horrible land.
Prophétie sur le désert de la mer. Pareil aux ouragans du midi quand ils passent, il vient du désert, du pays redoutable.
2 A grieuous vision was shewed vnto me, The transgressour against a transgressour, and the destroyer against a destroyer. Goe vp Elam, besiege Media: I haue caused all the mourning thereof to cease.
Une vision terrible m'a été révélée. Le perfide agit avec perfidie, et le dévastateur dévaste. Élamites, montez! Mèdes, assiégez! Je fais cesser tous ses gémissements!
3 Therefore are my loynes filled with sorow: sorowes haue taken me as the sorowes of a woman that trauayleth: I was bowed downe when I heard it, and I was amased when I sawe it.
C'est pourquoi mes reins sont remplis de douleur; des angoisses m'ont saisi, comme les angoisses de celle qui enfante; les douleurs m'empêchent d'entendre, l'épouvante m'empêche de voir!
4 Mine heart failed: fearefulnesse troubled me: the night of my pleasures hath he turned into feare vnto me.
Mon cœur est troublé; la terreur me saisit; la nuit de mes plaisirs est changée en nuit d'épouvante.
5 Prepare thou the table: watch in the watch towre: eate, drinke: arise, ye princes, anoynt the shielde.
On dresse la table; la sentinelle veille; on mange, on boit. Levez-vous, capitaines! Huilez le bouclier!
6 For thus hath the Lord said vnto me, Go, set a watchman, to tell what he seeth.
Car ainsi m'a dit le Seigneur: Va, place la sentinelle; qu'elle annonce ce qu'elle verra.
7 And he sawe a charet with two horsemen: a charet of an asse, and a charet of a camel: and he hearkened and tooke diligent heede.
Elle voit de la cavalerie, des cavaliers à cheval, deux à deux; des cavaliers sur des ânes, des cavaliers sur des chameaux; elle observe avec attention, avec grande attention.
8 And he cryed, A lyon: my lorde, I stand continually vpon ye watche towre in the day time, and I am set in my watche euery night:
Puis elle s'écrie, comme un lion: Seigneur, je me tenais en sentinelle sur la tour toute la journée, j'étais debout à mon poste toute la nuit;
9 And beholde, this mans charet commeth with two horsemen. And he answered and said, Babel is fallen: it is fallen, and all the images of her gods hath he broken vnto the ground.
Et voici venir de la cavalerie, des cavaliers deux à deux! Elle prend encore la parole, et dit: Elle est tombée, elle est tombée, Babylone! Et toutes les images de ses dieux sont brisées par terre!
10 O my threshing, and the corne of my floore. That which I haue heard of the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, haue I shewed vnto you.
O mon peuple, froment battu, foulé dans mon aire! ce que j'ai entendu de la part de l'Éternel des armées, Dieu d'Israël, je vous l'ai annoncé.
11 The burden of Dumah. He calleth vnto me out of Seir, Watchman, what was in ye night? Watchman, what was in the night?
Prophétie sur Duma. On me crie de Séir: Sentinelle, qu'en est-il de la nuit? Sentinelle, qu'en est-il de la nuit?
12 The watchman saide, The morning commeth, and also the night. If yee will aske, enquire: returne and come.
La sentinelle dit: Le matin vient, et la nuit aussi. Si vous voulez interroger, interrogez; revenez encore.
13 The burden against Arabia. In the forest of Arabia shall yee tarie all night, euen in the waies of Dedanim.
Prophétie sur l'Arabie. Vous passerez la nuit dans les bois, en Arabie, troupes errantes de Dédan.
14 O inhabitants of the lande of Tema, bring foorth water to meete the thirstie, and preuent him that fleeth with his bread.
Venez apporter de l'eau à ceux qui ont soif, habitants du pays de Théma. Venez au-devant du fugitif avec son pain.
15 For they flee from the drawen swords, euen from the drawen sword, and from the bent bowe, and from the grieuousnesse of warre.
Car ils s'enfuient devant les épées, devant l'épée nue, devant l'arc tendu, devant le fort de la bataille.
16 For thus hath the Lord sayd vnto me, Yet a yeere according to the yeeres of an hireling, and all the glorie of Kedar shall faile.
Car ainsi m'a dit le Seigneur: Encore une année comme les années d'un mercenaire, et toute la gloire de Kédar prendra fin;
17 And the residue of the nomber of ye strong archers of the sonnes of Kedar shall be fewe: for the Lord God of Israel hath spoken it.
Et le nombre des vaillants archers, fils de Kédar, sera réduit à un faible reste. Car l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, a parlé.
