Isaiah 20
1 In the yeere that Tartan came to Ashdod, (when Sargon King of Asshur sent him) and had fought against Ashdod, and taken it,
En l’année que Tharthan entra dans Azot, lorsque Sargon roi des Assyriens l’eut envoyé, et qu’il eut combattu Azot, et l’eut prise;
2 At the same time spake the Lord by ye hand of Isaiah the sonne of Amoz, saying, Goe, and loose the sackecloth from thy loynes, and put off thy shooe from thy foote. And he did so, walking naked and barefoote.
En ce temps-là, le Seigneur parla par la main d’Isaïe, fils d’Amos, disant: Va, ôte ton sac de tes reins, ôte ta chaussure de tes pieds. Et il fit ainsi, allant nu et déchaussé.
3 And the Lord said, Like as my seruant Isaiah hath walked naked, and barefoote three yeeres, as a signe and wonder vpon Egypt, and Ethiopia,
Et le Seigneur dit: Comme a marché mon serviteur Isaïe, nu et déchaussé, et comme il sera un signe de trois années et un présage pour l’Egypte et pour l’Ethiopie;
4 So shall the King of Asshur take away the captiuitie of Egypt, and the captiuitie of Ethiopia, both yong men and olde men, naked and barefoote, with their buttockes vncouered, to the shame of Egypt.
Ainsi le roi des Assyriens emmènera la captivité de l’Egypte, et la transmigration de l’Ethiopie, composées de jeunes hommes et de vieillards, nus et déchaussés, ce qui doit être caché dans le corps ayant été découvert pour l’ignominie de l’Egypte.
5 And they shall feare, and be ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.
Et ils craindront, et ils seront confondus par l’Ethiopie dans leur espoir, et par l’Egypte dans leur gloire.
6 Then shall the inhabitant of this yle say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we fledde for helpe to be deliuered from the King of Asshur, and howe shall we be deliuered?
Et il dira, l’habitant de cette île en ce jour-là: Voilà, c’était notre espérance, ceux auprès desquels nous avons cherché du secours, afin qu’ils nous délivrassent de la face du roi des Assyriens; et comment pourrons-nous échapper, nous?
