Hosea 8
1 Set the trumpet to thy mouth: he shall come as an eagle against the House of the Lord, because they haue transgressed my couenant, and trespassed against my Lawe.
De bazuin aan uw mond; hij komt als een arend tegen het huis des HEEREN; omdat zij Mijn verbond hebben overtreden, en zijn tegen Mijn wet afvallig geworden.
2 Israel shall crie vnto me, My God, we know thee.
Dan zullen zij tot Mij roepen: Mijn God! wij, Israel, kennen U.
3 Israel hath cast off ye thing that is good: the enemie shall pursue him.
Israel heeft het goede verstoten; de vijand zal hem vervolgen.
4 They haue set vp a King, but not by me: they haue made princes, and I knew it not: of their siluer and their gold haue they made them idoles: therefore shall they be destroyed.
Zij hebben koningen gemaakt, maar niet uit Mij; zij hebben vorsten gesteld, maar Ik heb het niet gekend; van hun zilver en hun goud hebben zij voor zichzelven afgoden gemaakt, opdat zij uitgeroeid worden.
5 Thy calfe, O Samaria, hath cast thee off: mine anger is kindled against them: howe long will they be without innocencie!
Uw kalf, o Samaria! heeft u verstoten; Mijn toorn is tegen hen ontstoken; hoe lang zullen zij de reinigheid niet verdragen?
6 For it came euen from Israel: the workeman made it, therefore it is not God: but the calfe of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
Want dat is ook uit Israel; een werkmeester heeft het gemaakt, en het is geen God, maar het zal tot stukken worden, het kalf van Samaria.
7 For they haue sowne the winde, and they shall reape the whirlewind: it hath no stalke: the budde shall bring foorth no meale: if so be it bring forth, the strangers shall deuoure it.
Want zij hebben wind gezaaid, en zullen een wervelwind maaien; het zal geen staande koren hebben, het uitspruitsel zal geen meel maken; of het misschien maakte, vreemden zullen het verslinden.
8 Israel is deuoured, now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessell wherein is no pleasure.
Israel is verslonden; nu zijn zij onder de heidenen geworden, gelijk een vat, waar men geen lust toe heeft.
9 For they are gone vp to Asshur: they are as a wilde asse alone by himselfe: Ephraim hath hired louers.
Want zij zijn opgetogen naar Assur, een woudezel, die alleen voor zichzelven is; die van Efraim hebben boelen om hoerenloon gehuurd.
10 Yet though they haue hired among the nations, nowe will I gather them, and they shall sorowe a litle, for the burden of the King and the princes.
Dewijl zij dan onder de heidenen boelen om hoerenloon gehuurd hebben, zo zal Ik die nu ook verzamelen; ja, zij hebben al een weinig begonnen, vanwege den last van den koning der vorsten.
11 Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sinne, his altars shalbe to sinne.
Omdat Efraim de altaren vermenigvuldigd heeft tot zondigen, zo zijn hem de altaren geworden tot zondigen.
12 I haue written to them the great things of my Lawe: but they were counted as a strange thing.
Ik schrijf hem de voortreffelijkheden Mijner wet voor; maar die zijn geacht als wat vreemds.
13 They sacrifice flesh for ye sacrifices of mine offerings, and eate it: but the Lord accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquitie, and visite their sinnes: they shall returne to Egypt.
Aangaande de offeranden Mijner gaven, zij offeren vlees, en eten het, maar de HEERE heeft aan hen geen welgevallen. Nu zal Hij hunner ongerechtigheid gedenken, en hun zonden bezoeken; zij zullen weder in Egypte keren.
14 For Israel hath forgotten his maker, and buildeth Temples, and Iudah hath increased strong cities: but I will sende a fire vpon his cities, and it shall deuoure the palaces thereof.
Want Israel heeft zijn Maker vergeten, en tempelen gebouwd, en Juda heeft vaste steden vermenigvuldigd; maar Ik zal een vuur zenden in zijn steden, dat zal haar paleizen verteren.
