Hosea 4
1 Heare the worde of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controuersie with the inhabitants of the lande, because there is no trueth nor mercie nor knowledge of God in the lande.
૧હે ઇઝરાયલી લોકો, યહોવાહનું વચન સાંભળો. આ દેશના રહેવાસીઓ સામે યહોવાહ દલીલ કરવાના છે, કેમ કે દેશમાં સત્ય કે વિશ્વાસુપણું કે ઈશ્વરનું ડહાપણ નથી.
2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and whoring they breake out, and blood toucheth blood.
૨શાપ આપવો, જૂઠું બોલવું, ખૂન કરવું, ચોરી કરવી અને વ્યભિચાર કરવો તે સિવાય બીજું કંઈ જ ચાલતું નથી. લોકો સીમાઓ તોડે છે અને રક્તપાત પાછળ રક્તપાત છે.
3 Therefore shall the land mourne, and euery one that dwelleth therein, shall be cut off, with the beasts of the fielde, and with the foules of the heauen, and also the fishes of the sea shall be taken away.
૩તેથી દેશ વિલાપ કરશે, તેમાં રહેનાર દરેક નિર્બળ થઈ જશે જંગલી પશુઓ, આકાશમાંના બધાં પક્ષીઓ સમુદ્રમાંનાં માછલાં સુદ્ધાં મરતાં જાય છે.
4 Yet let none rebuke, nor reproue another: for thy people are as they that rebuke the Priest.
૪પણ કોઈએ દલીલ કરવી નહિ; તેમ કોઈએ બીજા માણસ પર આરોપ કરવો નહિ. હે યાજકો, મારી દલીલ તમારી સામે છે.
5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the Prophet shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
૫હે યાજક તું દિવસે ઠોકર ખાઈને પડશે; તારી સાથે પ્રબોધકો પણ રાત્રે ઠોકર ખાઈને પડશે, હું તારી માતાનો નાશ કરીશ.
6 My people are destroyed for lacke of knowledge: because thou hast refused knowledge, I will also refuse thee, that thou shalt be no Priest to me: and seeing thou hast forgotten the Lawe of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
૬મારા લોકો ડહાપણને અભાવે નાશ પામતા જાય છે, કેમ કે તમે ડહાપણનો અનાદર કર્યો છે તેથી હું પણ તને મારા યાજકપદથી દૂર કરી દઈશ. કેમ કે તું, તારા ઈશ્વરના નિયમ ભૂલી ગયો છે, એટલે હું પણ તારા વંશજોને ભૂલી જઈશ.
7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I chaunge their glorie into shame.
૭જેમ જેમ યાજકોની સંખ્યા વધતી ગઈ, તેમ તેમ તેઓ મારી વિરુદ્ધ વધારે પાપો કરતા ગયા. હું તેઓની શોભાને શરમરૂપ કરી નાખીશ.
8 They eate vp the sinnes of my people, and lift vp their mindes in their iniquitie.
૮તેઓ મારા લોકોનાં પાપ પર નિર્વાહ કરે છે; તેઓ દુષ્ટતા કરવામાં મન લગાડે છે.
9 And there shalbe like people, like Priest: for I wil visite their wayes vpon them, and reward them their deedes.
૯લોકો સાથે તથા યાજકો સાથે એવું જ થશે. હું તેઓને તેઓનાં દુષ્ટ કૃત્યો માટે સજા કરીશ તેઓનાં કામનો બદલો આપીશ.
10 For they shall eate, and not haue ynough: they shall commit adulterie, and shall not increase, because they haue left off to take heede to ye Lord.
૧૦તેઓ ખાશે પણ ધરાશે નહિ, તેઓ વ્યભિચાર કરશે પણ તેઓનો વિસ્તાર વધશે નહિ, કેમ કે તેઓ મારાથી એટલે યહોવાહથી દૂર ગયા છે અને તેઓએ મને તજી દીધો છે.
11 Whoredome, and wine, and newe wine take away their heart.
૧૧વ્યભિચાર, દ્રાક્ષારસ તથા નવો દ્રાક્ષારસ તેમની સમજને નષ્ટ કરે છે.
12 My people aske counsell at their stockes, and their staffe teacheth them: for the spirite of fornications hath caused them to erre, and they haue gone a whoring from vnder their God.
૧૨મારા લોકો લાકડાંની મૂર્તિઓની સલાહ પૂછે છે, તેઓની લાકડીઓ તેઓને ભવિષ્યવાણીઓ કહે છે. કેમ કે અનિચ્છનીય સંગતે તેઓને અવળે માર્ગે દોર્યા છે, તેઓએ પોતાના ઈશ્વરને છોડી દીધા છે.
13 They sacrifice vpon the toppes of ye mountaines, and burne incense vpon the hilles vnder the okes, and the poplar tree, and the elme, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall be harlots, and your spouses shall be whores.
૧૩તેઓ પર્વતોનાં શિખરો પર બલિદાન કરે છે; ડુંગરો પર, એલોન વૃક્ષો, પીપળ વૃક્ષો તથા એલાહ વૃક્ષોની નીચે ધૂપ બાળે છે. તેથી તમારી દીકરીઓ વ્યભિચાર કરે છે, તમારી પુત્રવધૂઓ અનૈતિક કર્મ કરે છે.
14 I will not visite your daughters when they are harlots: nor your spouses when they are whores: for they themselues are separated with harlots, and sacrifice with whores: therefore the people that doeth not vnderstand, shall fall.
૧૪જ્યારે તમારી દીકરીઓ વ્યભિચાર કરશે, કે તમારી પુત્રવધૂઓ અનૈતિક કર્મ કરશે ત્યારે હું તેઓને શિક્ષા કરીશ નહિ. કેમ કે પુરુષો પોતે જ ગણિકાઓ સાથે વ્યવહાર રાખે છે, દેવદાસીઓની સાથે મંદિરમાં યજ્ઞો કરે છે. આ રીતે જે લોકો સમજતા નથી તેઓનો વિનાશ થશે.
15 Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Iudah sinne: come not ye vnto Gilgal, neither goe ye vp to Beth-auen, nor sweare, The Lord liueth.
૧૫હે ઇઝરાયલ, જોકે તું વ્યભિચાર કરે, પણ યહૂદિયાને દોષિત થવા દઈશ નહિ. તમે લોકો ગિલ્ગાલ જશો નહિ; બેથ-આવેન પર ચઢશો નહિ. અને “જીવતા યહોવાહના સમ” ખાશો નહિ.
16 For Israel is rebellious as an vnruly heyfer. Nowe the Lord will feede them as a lambe in a large place.
૧૬કેમ કે ઇઝરાયલ અડિયલે વાછરડીની જેમ હઠીલાઈ કરી છે. પછી લીલા બીડમાં હલવાનની જેમ યહોવાહ તેઓને ચારશે.
17 Ephraim is ioyned to idoles: let him alone.
૧૭એફ્રાઇમે મૂર્તિઓ સાથે સંબંધ જોડ્યો છે. તેને રહેવા દો.
18 Their drunkennes stinketh: they haue committed whoredome: their rulers loue to say with shame, Bring ye.
૧૮મદ્યપાન કરી રહ્યા પછી, તેઓ વ્યભિચાર કરવાનું ચાલુ રાખે છે; તેના અધિકારીઓ મોહમાં અંધ થઈ ગયા છે.
19 The winde hath bounde them vp in her wings, and they shalbe ashamed of their sacrifices.
૧૯પવને તેને પોતાની પાંખોમાં વીંટી દીધી છે; તેઓ પોતાનાં બલિદાનોને કારણે શરમાશે.
