Hebrews 1
1 At sundry times and in diuers maners God spake in the olde time to our fathers by the Prophetes:
C'est à plusieurs reprises et de plusieurs manières que Dieu a autrefois parlé à nos pères par les prophètes; et, de nos jours, qui sont les derniers,
2 in these last dayes hee hath spoken vnto vs by his Sonne, Whom he hath made heire of al things, by whome also he made the worldes, (aiōn g165)
il nous a parlé, à nous, par un Fils, qu'il a fait héritier de toutes choses et par lequel il a aussi créé le monde. (aiōn g165)
3 Who being the brightnes of the glory, and the ingraued forme of his person, and bearing vp all things by his mightie worde, hath by himselfe purged our sinnes, and sitteth at the right hand of the Maiestie in the highest places,
Étant un reflet de sa gloire et une empreinte de son essence, soutenant toutes choses par sa puissante parole, ce Fils a accompli l'oeuvre de la purification des péchés et «...s'est assis à la droite...» de la majesté divine dans les régions célestes,
4 And is made so much more excellent then the Angels, in as much as hee hath obteined a more excellent Name then they.
devenu d'autant supérieur aux anges que le nom dont il a hérité est plus éminent que le leur.
5 For vnto which of the Angels saide he at any time, Thou art my Sonne, this day begate I thee? and againe, I will be his Father, and he shalbe my Sonne?
Auquel des anges, en effet, Dieu a-t-il jamais dit: «Tu es mon Fils; Je t'ai engendré aujourd'hui», et ailleurs: «Je serai son Père, et il sera mon Fils.»
6 And againe, when he bringeth in his first begotten Sonne into the worlde, hee saith, And let all the Angels of God worship him.
Et lorsque, dans un autre passage, il introduit le premier-né dans le monde, il dit: «Que tous les anges de Dieu l'adorent.»
7 And of the Angels he saith, He maketh the spirites his messengers, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Quant aux anges, il en dit ceci «...Celui qui fait de ses anges des esprits Et de ses serviteurs une flamme de feu...»
8 But vnto the Sonne he saith, O God, thy throne is for euer and euer: the scepter of thy kingdome is a scepter of righteousnes. (aiōn g165)
Il dit, au contraire, du Fils: «Ton trône, Dieu, est éternel. Le sceptre de ta royauté est un sceptre de droiture. (aiōn g165)
9 Thou hast loued righteousnes and hated iniquitie. Wherefore God, eue thy God, hath anointed thee with the oyle of gladnes aboue thy fellowes.
Tu as aimé la justice et tu as haï l'iniquité. Voilà pourquoi, Dieu, ton Dieu t'a oint D'une huile de réjouissance, de préférence à tes égaux.»
10 And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast established the earth, and the heauens are the workes of thine handes.
Et ensuite: «C'est toi, Seigneur, qui, au commencement, as fondé la terre Et les cieux sont l'oeuvre de tes mains.
11 They shall perish, but thou doest remaine: and they all shall waxe olde as doeth a garment.
Ils périront, toi tu restes. Ils vieilliront tous comme un manteau,
12 And as a vesture shalt thou folde them vp, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy yeeres shall not faile.
Tu les plieras comme une couverture, comme un manteau, et ils se transformeront, Mais toi tu restes le même Et tes années ne finiront pas.»
13 Vnto which also of the Angels saide he at any time, Sit at my right hand, til I make thine enemies thy footestoole?
Auquel des anges Dieu a-t-il jamais dit: «Assieds-toi à ma droite Jusqu'à ce que j'aie mis tes ennemis sous tes pieds comme un marchepied?»
14 Are they not al ministring spirits, sent forth to minister, for their sakes which shalbe heires of saluation?
Les anges ne sont-ils pas tous des esprits subalternes, employés au service de Dieu, pour ceux qui doivent hériter du salut?
