Hebrews 9
1 Then the first Testament had also ordinances of religion, and a worldly Sanctuarie.
La première alliance possède bien aussi des ordonnances pour le culte et un sanctuaire, le sanctuaire terrestre.
2 For the first Tabernacle was made, wherein was the candlesticke, and the table, and the shewebread, which Tabernacle is called the Holy places.
On a, en effet, construit un tabernacle, dont la partie antérieure renferme le candélabre, la table et les pains de proposition, et qu'on appelle le Lieu saint.
3 And after the seconde vaile was the Tabernacle, which is called the Holiest of all,
Puis, derrière le second voile, se trouve la partie du tabernacle appelée le Lieu très-saint,
4 Which had the golden censer, and the Arke of the Testament ouerlayde rounde about with golde, wherein the golden pot, which had Manna, was, and Aarons rod that had budded, and the tables of the Testament.
renfermant l'autel d'or pour les parfums et l'arche de l'alliance toute recouverte d'or. Dans l'arche se trouvent une urne d'or contenant la manne, la verge d'Aaron, qui avait bourgeonné, et les tables de l'alliance;
5 And ouer the Arke were the glorious Cherubims, shadowing the mercie seat: of which things we will not nowe speake particularly.
elle-même est surmontée des chérubins de la Gloire, qui ombragent le propitiatoire. Mais ce n'est pas le moment de parler de tout cela en détail.
6 Nowe when these things were thus ordeined, the Priestes went alwayes into the first Tabernacle, and accomplished the seruice.
Ces choses étant ainsi disposées, les sacrificateurs entrent en tout temps dans la partie antérieure du tabernacle, lorsqu'ils célèbrent le culte;
7 But into the second went the hie Priest alone, once euery yere, not without blood which hee offered for himselfe, and for the ignorances of the people.
le souverain sacrificateur seul, et une seule fois par année, entre dans la seconde partie, non sans y porter du sang, qu'il offre pour sa propre personne et pour les ignorances du peuple.
8 Whereby the holy Ghost this signified, that the way into ye Holiest of all was not yet opened, while as yet the first tabernacle was standing,
Le Saint-Esprit fait voir par là, que le chemin du Lieu très-saint n'est pas ouvert, tant que la partie antérieure du tabernacle subsiste.
9 Which was a figure for that present time, wherein were offred gifts and sacrifices that could not make holy, concerning the conscience, him that did the seruice,
Elle est une figure symbolique relative au temps présent: elle signifie que les oblations et les sacrifices offerts sont incapables d'amener celui qui rend ce culte à la perfection réclamée par la conscience.
10 Which only stood in meates and drinkes, and diuers washings, and carnal rites, which were inioyned, vntill the time of reformation.
Ce ne sont là, avec les prescriptions relatives aux aliments, aux boissons et aux diverses ablutions, que des institutions pour la chair imposées jusqu'à une époque de réformation.
11 But Christ being come an high Priest of good things to come, by a greater and a more perfect Tabernacle, not made with handes, that is, not of this building,
Mais Christ ayant paru en qualité de souverain sacrificateur des biens à venir, a passé par ce tabernacle plus grand et plus parfait, qui n'est pas construit de main d'homme, c’est-à-dire, qui n'appartient pas à la création d’ici-bas,
12 Neither by the blood of goates and calues: but by his owne blood entred he in once vnto the holy place, and obteined eternall redemption for vs. (aiōnios g166)
et est entré une fois pour toutes dans le Lieu très-saint, non avec le sang des boucs et des taureaux, mais avec son propre sang, nous ayant acquis un pardon éternel. (aiōnios g166)
13 For if the blood of bulles and of goates, and the ashes of an heifer, sprinkling them that are vncleane, sanctifieth as touching the purifying of the flesh,
Car si le sang des boucs et des taureaux et la cendre d'une vache, dont on asperge ceux qui sont souillés, sanctifie de manière à donner la pureté de la chair,
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ which through the eternall Spirit offered himselfe without fault to God, purge your conscience from dead workes, to serue the liuing God? (aiōnios g166)
combien plus le sang de Christ qui, doué d'un esprit éternel, s'est offert lui-même à Dieu, sans tache, purifiera-t-il notre conscience des oeuvres mortes, pour que nous servions le Dieu vivant. (aiōnios g166)
15 And for this cause is he the Mediatour of the newe Testament, that through death which was for the redemption of the transgressions that were in the former Testament, they which were called, might receiue the promise of eternall inheritance. (aiōnios g166)
Voilà pourquoi il est le médiateur d'un nouveau testament, afin que, par le fait d'une mort pour le pardon des transgressions commises sous le premier testament, ceux qui ont été appelés reçoivent l'héritage éternel qui a été promis. (aiōnios g166)
16 For where a Testament is, there must be the death of him that made the Testament.
En effet, là où il y a un testament, il est nécessaire de constater la mort du testateur,
17 For the Testament is confirmed when men are dead: for it is yet of no force as long as he that made it, is aliue.
un testament n'étant valable qu'en cas de mort, puisqu'il n'est jamais en vigueur, lorsque le testateur est en vie.
18 Wherefore neither was the first ordeined without blood.
C'est par le même principe que le premier testament a été également inauguré avec du sang.
19 For when Moses had spoken euery precept to the people, according to the Law, he tooke the blood of calues and of goates, with water and purple wooll and hyssope, and sprinckled both the booke, and all the people,
Quand Moïse eut exposé à tout le peuple tous les commandements, selon la teneur de la Loi, il prit le sang des taureaux et des boucs, avec de l'eau, de la laine rouge et de l’hysope, et en aspergea le livre même et tout le peuple,
20 Saying, This is the blood of the Testament, which God hath appointed vnto you.
en disant: «Ceci est le sang de l’alliance que Dieu a ordonné de traiter avec vous.»
21 Moreouer, he sprinkled likewise the Tabernacle with blood also, and all the ministring vessels.
Puis, il fit pareillement une aspersion de sang sur le tabernacle et sur tous les ustensiles du culte:
22 And almost all things are by the Law purged with blood, and without sheading of blood is no remission.
et en général, c'est avec du sang que, d'après la Loi, tout est purifié, et sans effusion de sang, il n'y a point de pardon.
23 It was then necessary, that the similitudes of heauenly things should be purified with such things: but the heauenly things them selues are purified with better sacrifices then are these.
Il était donc nécessaire, puisque la copie du Lieu très-saint qui est dans les cieux, est purifiée par ces sacrifices, que le modèle céleste lui-même le fût par des sacrifices supérieurs à ceux-là;
24 For Christ is not entred into ye holy places that are made with hands, which are similitudes of ye true Sanctuarie: but is entred into very heauen, to appeare now in ye sight of God for vs,
car ce n'est pas dans un Lieu très-saint fait de main d'homme, en imitation du véritable Lieu très-saint, que Christ est entré, mais il est entré dans le ciel même, afin de comparaître maintenant pour nous devant la face de Dieu.
25 Not that he should offer himselfe often, as the hie Priest entred into the Holy place euery yeere with other blood,
Il n'y est pas entré non plus pour s'offrir plusieurs fois lui-même en sacrifice, comme le souverain sacrificateur, qui entre chaque année dans le Lieu très-saint avec un sang qui n'est pas le sien;
26 (For then must he haue often suffred since the foundation of the world) but now in the end of the world hath he bene made manifest, once to put away sinne by the sacrifice of him selfe. (aiōn g165)
autrement, il aurait dû souffrir plusieurs fois depuis la création du monde; mais il s'est montré une seule fois, dans ces derniers temps, pour anéantir le péché par son sacrifice. (aiōn g165)
27 And as it is appointed vnto men that they shall once die, and after that commeth the iudgement:
Et comme il est arrêté que les hommes meurent une seule fois, après quoi suit un jugement,
28 So Christ was once offered to take away the sinnes of many, and vnto them that looke for him, shall he appeare the second time without sinne vnto saluation.
de même, Christ, après s'être offert une seule fois en sacrifice, pour ôter les péchés de beaucoup, apparaîtra une seconde fois, non pour ôter le péché, mais pour donner le salut à ceux qui attendent sa venue.
