Hebrews 4
1 Let vs feare therefore, least at any time by forsaking the promise of entring into his rest, any of you should seeme to be depriued.
Portanto, vamos cuidar para garantir que, embora Deus tenha nos prometido entrar em seu descanso, nenhum de nós fique de fora!
2 For vnto vs was the Gospel preached as also vnto them: but the worde that they heard, profited not them, because it was not mixed with faith in those that heard it.
Pois nós ouvimos as boas novas exatamente como eles, mas isso não os ajudou, porque eles não aceitaram e não tiverem fé no que ouviram.
3 For we which haue beleeued, doe enter into rest, as he said to the other, As I haue sworne in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest: although the workes were finished from the foundation of the world.
No entanto, aqueles entre nós que creem em Deus entraram nesse descanso mencionado por Deus, quando ele disse: “Então, por causa da minha decepção, eu jurei que: ‘Eles não entrarão no meu descanso.’” Ele disse isso, embora os planos de Deus já tivessem sido concluídos quando Ele criou o mundo.
4 For he spake in a certaine place of the seuenth day on this wise, And God did rest the seuenth day from all his workes.
Com relação ao sétimo dia, há uma passagem nas Sagradas Escrituras que diz: “No sétimo dia, Deus descansou de todo o trabalho que havia feito.”
5 And in this place againe, If they shall enter into my rest.
E outra passagem afirma: “Eles não entrarão no meu descanso.”
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter thereinto, and they to whom it was first preached, entred not therein for vnbeliefes sake:
O descanso de Deus continua lá para que alguns entrem, mesmo que antes outros tenham ouvido as boas novas e tenham fracassado em entrar, por causa da desobediência deles.
7 Againe he appointed in Dauid a certaine day, by To day, after so long a time, saying, as it is sayd, This day, if ye heare his voyce, harden not your hearts.
Então, Deus novamente determina um outro dia, chamado “hoje.” E ele falou sobre isso muito tempo depois, por meio de Davi, conforme já havia dito antes: “Hoje, se vocês ouvirem o que Deus está dizendo, não tenham uma atitude teimosa.”
8 For if Iesus had giuen them rest, then would he not after this haue spoke of an other day.
Pois se Josué tivesse sido capaz de dar ao povo esse descanso, Deus não teria falado, tempos depois, a respeito de outro dia.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
E, assim, resta um repouso para o povo de Deus, como o descanso de Deus no sétimo dia.
10 For he that is entred into his rest, hath also ceased from his owne works, as God did from his.
Pois, quem entrar no descanso de Deus também descansará de tudo o que estiver fazendo, exatamente como Deus fez.
11 Let vs studie therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same ensample of disobedience.
Assim, devemos nos esforçar para entrar nesse descanso. Então, que ninguém falhe, ao seguir o mesmo exemplo péssimo de desobediência.
12 For the worde of God is liuely, and mightie in operation, and sharper then any two edged sword, and entreth through, euen vnto the diuiding asunder of the soule and the spirit, and of the ioints, and the marow, and is a discerner of the thoughtes, and the intents of the heart.
Pois a palavra de Deus é viva e poderosa, é mais afiada do que uma espada de corte duplo. Ela penetra até ao ponto de separar vida e respiração, indo ao íntimo das pessoas, e pode julgar tanto os pensamentos quanto as intenções do coração.
13 Neither is there any creature, which is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and open vnto his eyes, with whome we haue to doe.
Nenhum ser vivo consegue se esconder de Deus; tudo está exposto e é visível para Aquele a quem devemos prestar contas.
14 Seeing then that wee haue a great hie Priest, which is entred into heauen, euen Iesus the Sonne of God, let vs holde fast our profession.
Por termos um grande sacerdote tão esplêndido na pessoa de Jesus, o Filho de Deus, aquele que subiu aos céus, devemos garantir que continuaremos firmes no que cremos.
15 For we haue not an hie Priest, which can not be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all things tempted in like sort, yet without sinne.
Pois o nosso grande sacerdote não é do tipo que não se compadece das nossas fraquezas. Muito pelo contrário! Ele é aquele que foi tentado de todas as maneiras, como nós também somos, mas que se recusou a pecar.
16 Let vs therefore goe boldly vnto ye throne of grace, that we may receiue mercy, and finde grace to helpe in time of neede.
Então, devemos prosseguir, cheios de confiança, e chegarmos diante de Deus, em seu trono de graça, para que possamos receber sua misericórdia e descobrir a bênção que nos ajudará, quando realmente necessitarmos.
