Hebrews 12
1 Wherefore, let vs also, seeing that we are compassed with so great a cloude of witnesses, cast away euery thing that presseth downe, and the sinne that hangeth so fast on: let vs runne with patience the race that is set before vs,
Por eso, siendo que estamos rodeados de tal multitud de personas que demostraron su fe en Dios, despojémonos de todo lo que nos detiene, del pecado seductor que nos hace tropezar, y sigamos corriendo la carrera que tenemos por delante.
2 Looking vnto Iesus the authour and finisher of our faith, who for the ioy that was set before him, endured the crosse, and despised the shame, and is set at the right hand of the throne of God.
Debemos seguir con la mirada puesta en Jesús, el autor y perfeccionador de nuestra fe en Dios. Pues por el gozo que tenía delante, Jesús soportó la cruz, sin importarle su vergüenza, y se sentó a la diestra del trono de Dios.
3 Consider therefore him that endured such speaking against of sinners, lest ye should be wearied and faint in your mindes.
Piensen en Jesús, quien soportó tal hostilidad de un pueblo pecador, y así no se cansarán ni se desanimarán.
4 Ye haue not yet resisted vnto blood, striuing against sinne.
Hasta ahora, la lucha contra el pecado no les ha costado su sangre.
5 And ye haue forgotten the consolation, which speaketh vnto you as vnto children, My sonne, despise not the chastening of the Lord, neither faint when thou art rebuked of him.
¿Acaso han olvidado el llamado de Dios cuando les habla como a hijos suyos? Él dice: “Hijo mío, no tomes con ligereza la disciplina de Dios, ni te des por vencido cuando te corrige.
6 For whom the Lord loueth, he chasteneth: and he scourgeth euery sonne that he receiueth:
Porque el Señor disciplina a los que ama, y castiga a todos los que recibe como sus hijos”.
7 If ye endure chastening, God offereth him selfe vnto you as vnto sonnes: for what sonne is it whom the father chasteneth not?
Así que sean pacientes cuando experimenten la disciplina de Dios, porque quiere decir que los está tratando como a sus hijos. ¿Qué hijo no experimenta la disciplina de su padre?
8 If therefore ye be without correction, whereof al are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sonnes.
Si no reciben disciplina, (la cual todos hemos recibido), entonces son ilegítimos, y no son hijos de verdad.
9 Moreouer we haue had the fathers of our bodies which corrected vs, and we gaue them reuerence: should we not much rather be in subiection vnto the father of spirites, that we might liue?
Porque si respetábamos a nuestros padres terrenales que nos disciplinan, ¿cuánto más deberíamos estar sujetos a la disciplina de nuestro Padre espiritual, que nos conduce a la vida?
10 For they verely for a few dayes chastened vs after their owne pleasure: but he chasteneth vs for our profite, that we might be partakers of his holinesse.
Ellos nos disciplinaron por un tiempo, en lo que ellos consideraban inapropiado, pero Dios lo hace por nuestro bien, a fin de que podamos participar de su carácter santo.
11 Now no chastising for the present seemeth to be ioyous, but, grieuous: but afterwarde, it bringeth the quiet fruite of righteousnesse, vnto them which are thereby exercised.
Cuando la recibimos, la disciplina nos parece dolorosa, y no sentimos que traiga felicidad. Pero después produce paz en los que han sido entrenados de esta forma para hacer lo recto.
12 Wherfore lift vp your hands which hang downe, and your weake knees,
Así que fortalezcan sus manos cansadas, y sus rodillas débiles.
13 And make straight steppes vnto your feete, lest that which is halting, be turned out of the way, but let it rather be healed.
Tracen un camino recto sobre el cual caminar, para que los que son inválidos no se descarríen, sino que sean sanados.
14 Followe peace with all men, and holinesse, without the which no man shall see ye Lord.
Esfuércense por estar en paz con todos y buscar la santidad, pues de lo contrario no verán al Señor.
15 Take heede, that no man fall away from the grace of God: let no roote of bitternes spring vp and trouble you, lest thereby many be defiled.
Asegúrense de que no les falte la gracia de Dios, en caso de que surja alguna causa de amargura y tribulación y termine corrompiendo a muchos entre ustedes.
16 Let there be no fornicator, or prophane person as Esau, which for one portion of meate solde his birthright.
Asegúrense de que ninguno sea sexualmente inmoral o profano como Esaú. Él vendió su primogenitura por una sola comida.
17 For ye knowe howe that afterwarde also when he woulde haue inherited the blessing, he was reiected: for he founde no place to repentance, though he sought that blessing with teares.
Recuerden que incluso quiso recibir la bendición después que le fue negada. Y aunque lo intentó, y lloró amargamente, no pudo cambiar lo que había hecho.
18 For ye are not come vnto the mount that might be touched, nor vnto burning fire, nor to blacknes and darkenes, and tempest,
Ustedes no han llegado a una montaña de verdad que pueda tocarse, ni a un lugar que arda con fuego, ni tampoco a un lugar de tormenta u oscuridad,
19 Neither vnto the sounde of a trumpet, and the voyce of wordes, which they that heard it, excused themselues, that the word should not be spoken to them any more,
donde se haya escuchado una trompeta o voz que habla, y quienes oyeron esa voz rogaron no volver a oírla nunca más.
20 (For they were not able to abide that which was commanded, yea, though a beast touche the mountaine, it shalbe stoned, or thrust through with a dart:
Porque no pudieron obedecer lo que se les dijo, como por ejemplo: “Incluso si un animal toca la montaña, será apedreado hasta la muerte”.
21 And so terrible was the sight which appeared, that Moses said, I feare and quake.)
Semejante panorama era tan aterrador, que el mismo Moisés dijo: “¡Tengo tanto miedo que estoy temblando!”
22 But ye are come vnto the mount Sion, and to the citie of the liuing God, the celestiall Hierusalem, and to ye company of innumerable Angels,
Pero ustedes han llegado al Monte de Sión, la ciudad del Dios viviente, la Jerusalén celestial, con sus miles y miles de ángeles.
23 And to the assemblie and congregation of the first borne, which are written in heauen, and to God the iudge of all, and to the spirits of iust and perfite men,
Han venido a la iglesia de los primogénitos cuyos nombres están escritos en el cielo; a Dios, el juez de todos, y donde están las personas buenas, cuyas vidas están completas.
24 And to Iesus the Mediatour of the new Testament, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better things then that of Abel.
Han venido a Jesús, quien participa con nosotros de esta nueva relación de pacto; han venido a la sangre esparcida que tiene más valor que la de Abel.
25 See that ye despise not him that speaketh: for if they escaped not which refused him, that spake on earth: much more shall we not escape, if we turne away from him, that speaketh from heauen.
¡Asegúrense de no rechazar al que les está hablando! Si ellos no pudieron escapar cuando rechazaron a Dios en la tierra, sin duda alguna nosotros tampoco podremos escapar si volvemos nuestra espalda a Dios, quien nos advierte desde el cielo.
26 Whose voyce then shooke the earth and nowe hath declared, saying, Yet once more will I shake, not the earth onely, but also heauen.
En ese tiempo la voz de Dios agitó la tierra, pero ahora su promesa es: “Una vez más voy a agitar no solo la tierra sino también el cielo”.
27 And this worde, Yet once more, signifieth the remouing of those things which are shaken, as of things which are made with hands, that the things which are not shaken, may remaine.
La expresión “una vez más”, indica que toda la creación será agitada y removida para que solo permanezca lo inconmovible.
28 Wherefore seeing we receiue a kingdome, which cannot be shaken, let vs haue grace whereby we may so serue God, that we may please him with reuerence and feare.
Siendo que estamos recibiendo un reino inconmovible, tengamos una actitud llena de gracia, para que sirvamos a Dios de una manera que le agrade, con reverencia y respeto.
29 For euen our God is a consuming fire.
Porque “nuestro Dios es fuego consumidor”.
