Haggai 1
1 In the second yeere of King Darius, in the sixt moneth, the first day of the moneth, came ye worde of the Lord (by the ministery of the Prophet Haggai) vnto Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, a prince of Iudah, and to Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, saying,
Katika mwaka wa pili wa mfalme Dario, katika mwezi wa sita, siku ya kwanza ya mwezi, neno la Bwana likaja kwa kwa mkono wa nabii Haghai kwenda kwa gavana wa Yuda, Zerubabeli mwana wa Sheatieli na kuhani mkuu Joshua mwana wa Yehozadaki, kusema,
2 Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, saying, This people say, The time is not yet come, that the Lords House should be builded.
“Bwana wa Majeshi asema: 'Hawa watu husema, “Si wakati wetu kuja au kujenga nyumba ya Jehova."””
3 Then came the worde of the Lord by the ministerie of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
Tena neno la Bwana lilikuja kwa mkono wa nabii Haghai kusema,
4 Is it time for your selues to dwell in your sieled houses, and this House lie waste?
“Je ni wakati kwenu wenyewe kuishi katika nyumba zilizokamilika, na wakati nyumba hii inaharibika?
5 Now therefore thus saith ye Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts.
Kwa hiyo sasa Bwana wa Majeshi asema hivi: 'zitafakarini njia zenu!
6 Ye haue sowen much, and bring in litle: ye eate, but ye haue not ynough: ye drinke, but ye are not filled: ye clothe you, but ye be not warme: and he that earneth wages, putteth the wages into a broken bagge.
Mmepanda mbengu nyingi, lakini mkaleta mavuno kidogo; mnakula lakini hamshibi, mnakunywa lakini hamkujazwa na vinywaji. Mnavaa nguo lakini hampati joto wenyewe, na mtu wa mshahara hupata pesa na kuweka kwenye mfuko wenye mashimo tu!'
7 Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts.
Bwana wa Majeshi asema haya:
8 Goe vp to the mountaine, and bring wood, and build this House, and I wil be fauourable in it, and I will be glorified, sayth the Lord.
'Zitafakarini njia zetu! Pandeni milimani, mkalete mbao, na mjenge nyumba yangu; na pia nitakuwa radhi na nitatukuzwa!' Asema Bwana.
9 Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to litle: and when ye brought it home, I did blowe vpon it. And why, sayth the Lord of hostes? Because of mine House that is waste, and ye runne euery man vnto his owne house.
'Mmetazamia kupata vingi, lakini tazama! ulileta nyumbani vichache, nitavitowesha mbali! kwa nini?'- Hivi ndivyo anatamka Bwana wa Majeshi! kwa sababu nyumba yangu inakaa kwenye uharibifu, lakini kila mtu yuko radhi kwenye nyumba yake.
10 Therefore the heauen ouer you stayed it selfe from dewe, and the earth stayed her fruite.
Kwa sababu hii mbingu zimeshikiwa zisitoe umande kutoka kwako, na ardhi imeshikilia haizalishi.
11 And I called for a drought vpon the land, and vpon the mountaines, and vpon the corne, and vpon the wine, and vpon the oyle, vpon all that the ground bringeth foorth: both vpon men and vpon cattell, and vpon all the labour of the hands.
Nimekuita kutoka juu ya ardhi na juu ya milima, juu ya nafaka na juu ya mzabibu mpya, juu ya mafuta na juu ya mavuno ya ardhi, juu ya watu na juu ya wanyama, na juu ya kazi zote za mikono yako.
12 When Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest with all the remnant of the people, heard the voyce of the Lord their God, and the wordes of the Prophet Haggai (as the Lord their God had sent him) then the people did feare before the Lord.
Kisha Zerubabeli mwana wa Shelitieli, na kuhani mkuu Yoshua mwana wa Yehozadaki, pamoja na mabaki ya watu, wakati sauti ya Bwana Mungu wao, na maneno ya Nabii Hagai, kwa sababu Bwana Mungu wao alikuwa amemtuma. Na watu wakaogopa uso wa Bwana.
13 Then spake Haggai the Lords messenger in the Lords message vnto the people, saying, I am with you, sayth the Lord.
Ndipo Hagai, mjumbe wa Bwana, akaongea ujumbe wa Bwana kwa watu na kusema,”'Niko pamoja na wewe!'- Hili ni tamko la Bwana.
14 And the Lord stirred vp the spirite of Zerubbabel, the sonne of Shealtiel a prince of Iudah, and the spirit of Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came, and did the worke in the House of the Lord of hostes their God.
Bwana alitibua roho ya mkuu wa mkoa wa Yudah, Zerubabeli mwana wa Sheltieli, na roho ya kuhani mkuu Joshua mwana wa Yehozadaki, na roho ya masalia ya watu, kwa kiasi kwamba wakaenda kufanya kazi katika nyumba ya Bwana Mungu wa majeshi, Mungu wao.
15 In the foure and twentieth day of the sixt moneth, in the second yeere of King Darius,
katika siku ya ishirini na Mwezi wa sita, katika mwaka wa pili wa utawala wa Mfalme Dario.
