Haggai 2
1 In the seuenth moneth, in the one and twentieth day of the moneth, came the worde of the Lord by the ministerie of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
Le septième mois, le vingt-et-unième jour du mois, la parole de Dieu arriva par l’organe du prophète Haggaï en ces termes:
2 Speake nowe to Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel prince of Iudah, and to Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,
"Adresse donc à Zorobabel, fils de Chaltiël, gouverneur de Judée, à Josué, fils de Joçadak, le grand-prêtre, et au reste du peuple les paroles que voici:
3 Who is left among you, that sawe this House in her first glory, and howe doe you see it nowe? is it not in your eyes, in comparison of it as nothing?
"Est-II encore parmi vous quelqu’un qui ait vu ce temple dans sa splendeur primitive? Et comment le considérez-vous à présent? N’Est-il pas vrai qu’il est comme rien à vos yeux?
4 Yet nowe be of good courage, O Zerubbabel, sayth the Lord, and be of good comfort, O Iehoshua, sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest: and be strong, all ye people of the land, sayth the Lord, and doe it: for I am with you, sayth the Lord of hostes,
Toutefois, prends courage, Zorobabel, dit le Seigneur, prends courage, Josué, fils de Joçadak, toi le grand-prêtre, prenez courage, vous les gens de ce pays, dit l’Eternel, et agissez en conséquence, car je suis avec vous, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot.
5 According to the worde that I couenanted with you, when ye came out of Egypt: so my Spirite shall remaine among you, feare ye not.
Aux termes de l’alliance que j’ai contractée avec vous lors de votre sortie de l’Egypte, mon esprit réside au milieu de vous: ne craignez rien!"
6 For thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Yet a litle while, and I will shake the heauens and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land:
"Oui, ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot, encore un court délai, et je mettrai en mouvement le ciel et la terre, la mer et le continent;
7 And I will moue all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come, and I will fill this House with glory, sayth the Lord of hostes.
je mettrai en mouvement tous les peuples, pour qu’affluent ici les biens les plus précieux de tous ces peuples, et ainsi je remplirai cette maison de splendeur, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot.
8 The siluer is mine, and the golde is mine, sayth the Lord of hostes.
A moi appartient l’argent, à moi l’or, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot.
9 The glory of this last House shall be greater then the first, sayth the Lord of hostes: and in this place will I giue peace, sayth the Lord of hostes.
Plus grande sera la splendeur de ce second temple que celle du premier, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot, et en ce lieu je ferai régner la paix, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot."
10 In the foure and twentieth day of the ninth moneth, in the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto the Prophet Haggai, saying,
Le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, dans la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Dieu arriva par l’organe du prophète Haggaï en ces termes:
11 Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Aske nowe the Priests concerning the Law, and say,
"Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot: Interroge donc les prêtres sur le point de doctrine que voici:
12 If one beare holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt doe touch the bread, or the potage, or the wine, or oyle, or any meate, shall it be holy? And the Priests answered and said, No.
S’Il arrive que quelqu’un transporte de la chair consacrée dans le pan de son habit, et qu’il mette ce pan de vêtement en contact avec du pain, un légume, du vin, de l’huile ou tout autre comestible, ceux-ci contracteront-ils la sainteté?" Les prêtres répondirent en disant: "Non!"
13 Then sayde Haggai, If a polluted person touch any of these, shall it be vncleane? And the Priests answered, and sayd, It shalbe vncleane.
Haggaï reprit: "Si une personne devenue impure par le contact d’un mort touche ces objets, seront-ils impurs?" Les prêtres répondirent en disant: "Ils seront impurs."
14 Then answered Haggai, and sayd, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the Lord: and so are all the workes of their hands, and that which they offer here, is vncleane.
Alors Haggaï prit la parole et dit: "Il en est ainsi de ce peuple: voilà comme il paraît à mes yeux, ce peuple, dit l’Eternel, lui et toutes les œuvres de ses mains. Ce qu’ils me présentent là comme offrande est impur!
15 And nowe, I pray you, consider in your mindes: from this day, and afore, euen afore a stone was layde vpon a stone in the Temple of the Lord:
Or ça, observez attentivement ce qui va se passer dans la suite, à partir de ce jour; car jusqu’aujourd’hui on n’avait pas posé pierre sur pierre au sanctuaire de l’Eternel.
16 Before these things were, when one came to an heape of twentie measures, there were but ten: when one came to the wine presse for to drawe out fiftie vessels out of the presse, there were but twentie.
Jadis, on se rendait auprès d’un monceau de vingt gerbes, et il n’y en avait que dix; on se rendait auprès d’une cuve de vin dans l’attente d’y puiser cinquante mesures et elles se réduisaient à vingt.
17 I smote you with blasting, and with mildewe, and with haile, in all the labours of your hands: yet you turned not to me, saith the Lord.
Je vous avais éprouvés par la rouille, la nielle et la grêle, s’attaquant à toute l’ouvre de vos mains, mais cela ne vous a pas ramenés à moi, dit l’Eternel.
18 Consider, I pray you, in your mindes, from this day, and afore from the foure and twentieth day of the ninth moneth, euen from the day that the foundation of the Lords Temple was laide: consider it in your mindes.
Observez donc avec soin ce qui va se passer, à dater de ce jour et ultérieurement, à dater de ce jour qui est le vingt-quatrième du neuvième mois, jour où ont été jetés les fondements du sanctuaire de l’Eternel. Oui, prenez-le bien à cœur!
19 Is the seede yet in the barne? as yet the vine, and the figtree, and the pomegranate, and the oliue tree hath not brought forth: from this day will I blesse you.
Avez-vous encore des grains dans le grenier? N’Est-ce pas que ni vigne, ni figuier, ni grenadier, ni olivier n’ont rien donné? Mais à partir de ce jour je vous comblerai de mes bénédictions."
20 And againe the worde of the Lord came vnto Haggai in the foure and twentieth day of the moneth, saying,
La parole de l’Eternel s’adressa une seconde fois à Haggaï, le vingt-quatrième jour du mois, en ces termes:
21 Speake to Zerubbabel the prince of Iudah, and say, I wil shake the heauens and the earth,
"Dis à Zorobabel, gouverneur de Judée, ce qui suit: Je vais faire trembler le ciel et la terre.
22 And I will ouerthrowe the throne of kingdomes, and I wil destroy the strength of the kingdomes of the heathen, and I wil ouerthrowe the charets, and those that ride in them, and the horse and the riders shall come downe, euery one by the sword of his brother.
Je mettrai sens dessus dessous le trône des royaumes, je détruirai la puissance des empires des nations; je renverserai les chars de guerre et ceux qui y siègent, les coursiers et leurs cavaliers tomberont à terre, frappés les uns par le glaive des autres.
23 In that day, saith the Lord of hostes, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel my seruant, the sonne of Shealtiel, sayth the Lord, and wil make thee as a signet: for I haue chosen thee, sayth the Lord of hostes.
En ce jour, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot, je te prendrai, ô Zorobabel, fils de Chaltiël, toi mon serviteur, dit l’Eternel, et je te considérerai comma un anneau sigillaire, car c’est toi que j’ai élu, dit l’Eternel-Cebaot."
