Haggai 1
1 In the second yeere of King Darius, in the sixt moneth, the first day of the moneth, came ye worde of the Lord (by the ministery of the Prophet Haggai) vnto Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, a prince of Iudah, and to Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, saying,
En la seconde année du roi Darius, au sixième mois, au premier jour du mois, la parole du Seigneur fut adressée, par l’entremise d’Aggée, le prophète, à Zorobabel, chef de Juda, fils de Salathiel, et à Jésus, le grand-prêtre, fils de Josédec, disant:
2 Thus speaketh the Lord of hostes, saying, This people say, The time is not yet come, that the Lords House should be builded.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Ce peuple dit: Il n’est pas encore venu, le temps de bâtir la maison du Seigneur.
3 Then came the worde of the Lord by the ministerie of the Prophet Haggai, saying,
Et la parole du Seigneur fut adressée par l’entremise d’Aggée, le prophète, disant:
4 Is it time for your selues to dwell in your sieled houses, and this House lie waste?
Est-ce qu’il est temps pour vous d’habiter dans des maisons lambrissées, quand cette maison est déserte?
5 Now therefore thus saith ye Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts.
Et maintenant, voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Appliquez vos cœurs à vos voies.
6 Ye haue sowen much, and bring in litle: ye eate, but ye haue not ynough: ye drinke, but ye are not filled: ye clothe you, but ye be not warme: and he that earneth wages, putteth the wages into a broken bagge.
Vous avez semé beaucoup, et vous avez peu recueilli; vous avez mangé, et vous n’avez pas été rassasiés; vous avez bu, et vous n’avez pas été désaltérés; vous vous êtes couverts, et vous ne vous êtes pas réchauffés; et celui qui a accumulé des profits les a mis dans un sac percé.
7 Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Consider your owne wayes in your hearts.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur des armées: Appliquez vos cœurs à vos voies.
8 Goe vp to the mountaine, and bring wood, and build this House, and I wil be fauourable in it, and I will be glorified, sayth the Lord.
Montez sur la montagne, portez des bois, et bâtissez la maison, et elle me sera agréable, et je serai glorifié, dit le Seigneur.
9 Ye looked for much, and lo, it came to litle: and when ye brought it home, I did blowe vpon it. And why, sayth the Lord of hostes? Because of mine House that is waste, and ye runne euery man vnto his owne house.
Vous avez espéré plus, et il arrive moins; ce peu, vous l’ avez apporté dans votre maison, et j’ai soufflé dessus; pour quel motif, dit le Seigneur des armées? parce que ma maison est déserte, et que chacun de vous se hâte pour la sienne.
10 Therefore the heauen ouer you stayed it selfe from dewe, and the earth stayed her fruite.
C’est pour cela qu’au-dessus de vous il a été défendu aux cieux de donner de la rosée, et qu’à la terre il a été défendu de donner ses productions.
11 And I called for a drought vpon the land, and vpon the mountaines, and vpon the corne, and vpon the wine, and vpon the oyle, vpon all that the ground bringeth foorth: both vpon men and vpon cattell, and vpon all the labour of the hands.
Et j’ai appelé la sécheresse sur la terre, et sur les montagnes, et sur le blé, et sur le vin, et sur l’huile, et sur tout ce que produit la terre, et sur les hommes, et sur les bêtes, et sur tous les travaux de vos mains.
12 When Zerubbabel the sonne of Shealtiel, and Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest with all the remnant of the people, heard the voyce of the Lord their God, and the wordes of the Prophet Haggai (as the Lord their God had sent him) then the people did feare before the Lord.
Et Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, et Jésus, fus de Josédec, le grand-prêtre, et tous ceux qui étaient restés du peuple, entendirent la voix du Seigneur leur Dieu, et les paroles d’Aggée, le prophète, qu’envoya vers eux le Seigneur leur Dieu; et le peuple fut saisi de crainte devant la face du Seigneur.
13 Then spake Haggai the Lords messenger in the Lords message vnto the people, saying, I am with you, sayth the Lord.
Et Aggée, envoyé du Seigneur dans les messages du Seigneur, parla, disant au peuple: Moi, je suis avec vous, dit le Seigneur.
14 And the Lord stirred vp the spirite of Zerubbabel, the sonne of Shealtiel a prince of Iudah, and the spirit of Iehoshua the sonne of Iehozadak the hie Priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, and they came, and did the worke in the House of the Lord of hostes their God.
Et le Seigneur suscita l’esprit de Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, chef de Juda, et l’esprit de Jésus, fils de Josédec, le grand prêtre, et l’esprit de tous ceux qui étaient restés du peuple, et ils entrèrent dans le temple, et ils travaillaient dans la maison du Seigneur des armées leur Dieu.
15 In the foure and twentieth day of the sixt moneth, in the second yeere of King Darius,
Au vingt-quatrième jour, au sixième mois, en la seconde année du roi Darius;
