Genesis 6
1 So when men began to be multiplied vpon the earth, and there were daughters borne vnto them,
Lorsque les hommes eurent commencé à se multiplier sur la terre, et qu’ils eurent procréé des filles,
2 Then the sonnes of God sawe the daughters of men that they were faire, and they tooke them wiues of all that they liked.
Les fils de Dieu voyant que les filles des hommes étaient belles, prirent leurs femmes entre toutes celles qu’ils avaient choisies.
3 Therefore the Lord saide, My Spirit shall not alway striue with man, because he is but flesh, and his dayes shalbe an hundreth and twentie yeeres.
Et Dieu dit: Mon esprit ne demeurera pas dans l’homme pour toujours, parce qu’il est chair; et ses jours seront de cent vingt ans.
4 There were gyants in the earth in those dayes: yea, and after that the sonnes of God came vnto the daughters of men, and they had borne them children, these were mightie men, which in olde time were men of renoume.
Or il y avait des géants sur la terre en ces jours-là. Car après que les enfants de Dieu se furent approchés des filles des hommes, celles-ci enfantèrent; et de là sont venus ces hommes puissants, fameux dès les temps anciens.
5 When the Lord sawe that the wickednesse of man was great in the earth, and all the imaginations of the thoughtes of his heart were onely euill continually,
Mais Dieu voyant que la malice des hommes était grande sur la terre, et que toutes les pensées de leurs cœurs étaient tournées au mal en tout temps,
6 Then it repented ye Lord, that he had made man in the earth, and he was sorie in his heart.
Se repentit d’avoir fait l’homme sur la terre; et touché de douleur jusqu’au fond du cœur,
7 Therefore ye Lord said, I will destroy from the earth the man, whom I haue created, from man to beast, to the creeping thing, and to the foule of the heauen: for I repent that I haue made them.
J’exterminerai, dit-il, l’homme que j’ai créé, de la face de la terre, depuis l’homme jusqu’aux animaux, depuis le reptile jusqu’aux oiseaux du ciel; car je me repens de les avoir faits.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Mais Noé trouva grâce devant le Seigneur.
9 These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a iust and vpright man in his time: and Noah walked with God.
Voici les générations de Noé: Noé fut un homme juste et parfait au milieu de tous ceux de son temps; il marcha avec Dieu.
10 And Noah begate three sonnes, Shem, Ham and Iapheth.
Ainsi, il enfanta trois fils, Sem, Cham et Japhet.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God: for the earth was filled with crueltie.
Or la terre fut corrompue et remplie d’iniquité.
12 Then God looked vpon the earth, and beholde, it was corrupt: for all flesh had corrupt his way vpon the earth.
Lors donc que Dieu eut vu que la terre était corrompue (car toute chair avait corrompu sa voie sur la terre),
13 And God said vnto Noah, An ende of all flesh is come before me: for the earth is filled with crueltie through them: and beholde, I wil destroy them with the earth.
Il dit à Noé: La fin de toute chair est venue pour moi; la terre est remplie d’iniquité à cause d’eux, et moi, je les exterminerai avec la terre.
14 Make thee an Arke of pine trees: thou shalt make cabines in the Arke, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Fais-toi une arche de pièces de bois polies: tu feras dans l’arche des compartiments, et tu l’enduiras de bitume intérieurement et extérieurement.
15 And thus shalt thou make it: The length of the Arke shalbe three hundreth cubites, the breadth of it fiftie cubites, and the height of it thirtie cubites.
Et c’est ainsi que tu la feras: La longueur de l’arche sera de trois cents coudées; sa largeur de cinquante coudées, et sa hauteur de trente coudées.
16 A windowe shalt thou make in the Arke, and in a cubite shalt thou finish it aboue, and the doore of the Arke shalt thou set in the side thereof: thou shalt make it with the lowe, seconde and third roume.
Tu feras une fenêtre à l’arche, que tu termineras par le haut, en la réduisant à une coudée: quant à la porte de l’arche, tu la mettras sur un côté: tu y feras un étage dans le bas, puis un second et un troisième étage.
17 And I, beholde, I will bring a flood of waters vpon the earth to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life vnder the heauen: all that is in the earth shall perish.
Et voici que moi j’amènerai les eaux du déluge sur la terre, pour faire périr toute chair en laquelle est l’esprit de vie sous le ciel: tout ce qui est sur la terre sera consumé.
18 But with thee will I establish my couenant, and thou shalt goe into the Arke, thou, and thy sonnes, and thy wife, and thy sonnes wiues with thee.
Mais j’établirai mon alliance avec toi; et tu entreras dans l’arche, toi et tes fils, ta femme et les femmes de tes fils avec toi.
19 And of euery liuing thing, of all flesh two of euery sort shalt thou cause to come into the Arke, to keepe them aliue with thee: they shalbe male and female.
Et de tous les animaux de toute chair, tu en feras entrer deux dans l’arche, afin qu’ils vivent avec toi, l’un mâle et l’autre femelle.
20 Of the foules, after their kinde, and of the cattell after their kind, of euery creeping thing of the earth after his kinde, two of euery sort shall come vnto thee, that thou mayest keepe them aliue.
Des oiseaux selon leur espèce, et des quadrupèdes selon leur espèce et de tout reptile de la terre selon son espèce; de tous ces animaux, dis-je, deux entreront avec toi, afin qu’ils puissent vivre.
21 And take thou with thee of all meate that is eaten: and thou shalt gather it to thee, that it may be meate for thee and for them.
Tu prendras donc avec toi de tous les aliments, et tu les emporteras dans l’arche: et ils seront tant pour toi que pour eux, votre nourriture.
22 Noah therefore did according vnto all, that God commanded him: euen so did he.
Et Noé fit tout ce que Dieu lui avait ordonné.
