Genesis 50
1 Then Ioseph fell vpon his fathers face and wept vpon him, and kissed him.
Giô-sép cúi xuống mặt cha, vừa hôn vừa khóc.
2 And Ioseph commanded his seruantes the physicions, to enbaume his father, and the physicions enbaumed Israel.
Ông bảo các y sĩ phụ mình ướp xác cho cha.
3 So fourtie dayes were accomplished (for so long did the dayes of them that were enbaumed last) and the Egyptians bewayled him seuentie dayes.
Họ vâng lệnh, ướp xác Ít-ra-ên bốn mươi ngày, và người Ai Cập than khóc bảy mươi ngày.
4 And when the dayes of his mourning were past, Ioseph spake to the house of Pharaoh, saying, If I haue nowe found fauour in your eyes, speake, I pray you, in the eares of Pharaoh, and say,
Kỳ hạn than khóc đã qua, Giô-sép nói với triều đình Ai Cập: “Xin các ông vui lòng tâu vua giúp tôi:
5 My father made me sweare, saying, Loe, I die, bury me in my graue, which I haue made me in the land of Canaan: now therefore let me go, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I wil come againe.
Lúc gần chết, cha buộc tôi thề phải chôn người trong phần mộ đã mua tại xứ Ca-na-an. Vậy, xin vua cho phép tôi đi chôn cất cha, rồi trở lại ngay.”
6 Then Pharaoh said, Goe vp and bury thy father, as he made thee to sweare.
Vua Pha-ra-ôn đáp: “Ngươi hãy lên đó an táng cha đúng theo lời thề.”
7 So Ioseph went vp to bury his father, and with him went all the seruants of Pharaoh, both the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt.
Vậy, Giô-sép đi lên Ca-na-an mai táng cha. Các quan lớn nhỏ trong triều Pha-ra-ôn, các trưởng lão trong nước Ai Cập,
8 Likewise all the house of Ioseph, and his brethren, and his fathers house: onely their children, and their sheepe, and their cattell left they in the land of Goshen.
người nhà Giô-sép, các anh em, và cả gia đình đều đi dự đám tang. Chỉ còn trẻ con, bầy chiên, bầy bò ở lại Gô-sen mà thôi.
9 And there went vp with him both charets and horsemen: and they were an exceeding great company.
Đoàn kỵ binh và xe ngựa cũng theo hộ tống. Đám tang thật đông đảo.
10 And they came to Goren Atad, which is beyond Iorden, and there they made a great and exceeding sore lamentation: and he mourned for his father seuen dayes.
Khi đến sân đạp lúa A-tát, bên kia sông Giô-đan, lễ an táng được cử hành long trọng và vĩ đại. Lễ khóc than kéo dài bảy ngày.
11 And when the Canaanites the inhabitants of the lande sawe the mourning in Goren Atad, they sayde, This is a great mourning vnto the Egyptians: wherefore the name thereof was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond Iorden.
Dân Ca-na-an, tức là dân xứ ấy, thấy khóc than nơi sân đạp lúa A-tát, thì nói rằng; họ bảo nhau: “Đây là lễ khóc than vĩ đại của người Ai Cập” và gọi nơi ấy là A-bên Mích-ra-im, ở gần sông Giô-đan.
12 So his sonnes did vnto him, according as he had commanded them:
Các con trai Gia-cốp làm theo lời cha dặn;
13 For his sonnes caried him into the lande of Canaan, and buried him in the caue of the fielde of Machpelah, which caue Abraham bought with the fielde, to be a place to bury in, of Ephron the Hittite besides Mamre.
họ chôn cha tại xứ Ca-na-an, trong hang núi của cánh đồng Mạc-bê-la, gần Mam-rê, mà Áp-ra-ham đã mua của Ép-rôn, người Hê-tít, để làm mộ địa cho gia đình.
14 Then Ioseph returned into Egypt, he and his brethren, and al that went vp with him to bury his father, after that he had buried his father.
Việc chôn cất đã xong, Giô-sép, các anh em, và những người dự đám tang đều trở lại Ai Cập.
15 And when Iosephs brethren saw that their father was dead, they sayde, It may be that Ioseph will hate vs, and will pay vs againe all the euill, which we did vnto him.
Các anh Giô-sép thấy cha đã chết, họ lo sợ bảo nhau: “Có thể Giô-sép còn hằn thù ác cảm với chúng ta và sẽ thẳng tay báo thù việc ác chúng ta đã làm.”
16 Therefore they sent vnto Ioseph, saying, Thy father commanded before his death, saying,
Họ sai người đến năn nỉ Giô-sép: “Trước khi qua đời, cha dặn chúng tôi
17 Thus shall ye say vnto Ioseph, Forgiue now, I pray thee, the trespasse of thy brethren, and their sinne: for they rewarded thee euil. And nowe, we pray thee, forgiue the trespasse of the seruants of thy fathers God. And Ioseph wept, when they spake vnto him.
nói lại với em: ‘Xin hãy tha tội ác cho các anh con, vì chúng đã hại con.’ Bây giờ xin chú tha tội cho chúng tôi, đầy tớ Đức Chúa Trời của cha.” Nghe xong, Giô-sép khóc.
18 Also his brethren came vnto him, and fell downe before his face, and sayde, Beholde, we be thy seruants.
Các anh đến quỳ trước mặt Giô-sép: “Chúng tôi cũng chỉ là đầy tớ của em.”
19 To whome Ioseph sayde, Feare not: for am not I vnder God?
Giô-sép trấn an: “Các anh đừng sợ. Tôi thay thế Đức Chúa Trời buộc tội các anh sao?
20 When ye thought euill against mee, God disposed it to good, that he might bring to passe, as it is this day, and saue much people aliue.
Các anh định hại tôi, nhưng Đức Chúa Trời đã đổi họa ra phước và đưa tôi đến đây để cứu bao nhiêu sinh mạng.
21 Feare not nowe therefore, I will nourish you, and your children: and hee comforted them, and spake kindly vnto them.
Vậy, các anh đừng sợ. Tôi sẽ tiếp tục cấp dưỡng cho các anh và gia đình.” Giô-sép an ủi các anh với lời lẽ thật dịu dàng.
22 So Ioseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his fathers house: and Ioseph liued an hundreth and tenne yeere.
Giô-sép và cả gia đình Gia-cốp tiếp tục sống tại Ai Cập. Giô-sép thọ 110 tuổi,
23 And Ioseph saw Ephraims children, euen vnto the third generation: also the sonnes of Machir the sonne of Manasseh were brought vp on Iosephs knees.
trông thấy con cháu Ép-ra-im đến đời thứ ba, và bồng ẵm các con trai của Ma-ki, cháu nội Ma-na-se.
24 And Ioseph sayd vnto his brethren, I am ready to dye, and God will surely visite you, and bring you out of this land, vnto ye land which hee sware vnto Abraham, vnto Izhak, and vnto Iaakob.
Giô-sép nói với các anh: “Tôi sắp qua đời, nhưng Đức Chúa Trời sẽ đến giúp các anh, đưa các anh ra khỏi Ai Cập, và trở về xứ Ngài đã thề hứa cho Áp-ra-ham, Y-sác, và Gia-cốp.”
25 And Ioseph tooke an othe of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visite you, and ye shall cary my bones hence.
Giô-sép bảo các anh thề: “Khi Đức Chúa Trời cứu giúp các anh, xin hãy dời hài cốt tôi khỏi Ai Cập.”
26 So Ioseph died, when he was an hundreth and ten yere olde: and they enbaumed him and put him in a chest in Egypt.
Vậy Giô-sép qua đời, thọ 110 tuổi. Người ta ướp xác ông và đặt trong quan tài tại Ai Cập.
