Genesis 50

1 Then Ioseph fell vpon his fathers face and wept vpon him, and kissed him.

যোষেফ তাঁর বাবার উপর ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়লেন এবং কাঁদতে কাঁদতে তাঁকে চুমু দিলেন।

2 And Ioseph commanded his seruantes the physicions, to enbaume his father, and the physicions enbaumed Israel.

পরে যোষেফ তাঁর সেবায় নিয়োজিত চিকিৎসকদের তাঁর বাবা ইস্রায়েলের দেহটি সুগন্ধি বস্তু দ্বারা রক্ষা করার নির্দেশ দিলেন। অতএব চিকিৎসকরা তাঁর দেহটি সুগন্ধি বস্তু দ্বারা সংরক্ষণ করলেন,

3 So fourtie dayes were accomplished (for so long did the dayes of them that were enbaumed last) and the Egyptians bewayled him seuentie dayes.

তাঁরা পুরো চল্লিশ দিন সময় নিলেন, কারণ সুগন্ধি বস্তু দ্বারা শবদেহ সংরক্ষণ করার জন্য এতখানিই সময় লাগত। আর মিশরীয়রা তাঁর জন্য সত্তর দিন শোক পালন করল।

4 And when the dayes of his mourning were past, Ioseph spake to the house of Pharaoh, saying, If I haue nowe found fauour in your eyes, speake, I pray you, in the eares of Pharaoh, and say,

যখন শোকপালনকাল অতিবাহিত হয়ে গেল, তখন যোষেফ ফরৌণের রাজসভাসদদের কাছে গিয়ে বললেন, “আমি যদি আপনাদের দৃষ্টিতে অনুগ্রহ পেয়ে থাকি, তবে আমার হয়ে ফরৌণের কাছে একথা বলুন। তাঁকে বলুন,

5 My father made me sweare, saying, Loe, I die, bury me in my graue, which I haue made me in the land of Canaan: now therefore let me go, I pray thee, and bury my father, and I wil come againe.

‘আমার বাবা আমাকে দিয়ে এক প্রতিজ্ঞা করিয়ে নিয়েছিলেন এবং বলেছিলেন, “আমি মরতে চলেছি; কনান দেশে আমি নিজের জন্য যে কবর খুঁড়ে রেখেছি সেখানেই আমাকে কবর দিয়ো।” এখন আমাকে গিয়ে আমার বাবাকে কবর দিয়ে আসতে দিন; পরে আমি ফিরে আসব।’”

6 Then Pharaoh said, Goe vp and bury thy father, as he made thee to sweare.

ফরৌণ বললেন, “যাও ও তোমার বাবাকে কবর দাও, যেমনটি করার জন্য তিনি তোমাকে দিয়ে প্রতিজ্ঞা করিয়ে নিয়েছেন।”

7 So Ioseph went vp to bury his father, and with him went all the seruants of Pharaoh, both the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt.

অতএব যোষেফ তাঁর বাবাকে কবর দিতে গেলেন। ফরৌণের সব কর্মকর্তা যোষেফের সাথী হলেন—তাঁর দরবারের বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিবর্গ ও মিশরের সব বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিবর্গ—

8 Likewise all the house of Ioseph, and his brethren, and his fathers house: onely their children, and their sheepe, and their cattell left they in the land of Goshen.

এছাড়াও যোষেফের পরিবারের সব সদস্য ও তাঁর দাদা-ভাইয়েরা এবং তাঁর পৈত্রিক পরিবারের অন্তর্গত সকলে তাঁর সঙ্গে গেলেন। শুধুমাত্র তাঁদের সন্তানেরা, এবং তাঁদের মেষপাল ও পশুপাল গোশনে থেকে গেল।

9 And there went vp with him both charets and horsemen: and they were an exceeding great company.

রথ ও অশ্বারোহীরাও তাঁর সঙ্গে গেল। সে ছিল বিশাল এক সমবেত জনসমষ্টি।

10 And they came to Goren Atad, which is beyond Iorden, and there they made a great and exceeding sore lamentation: and he mourned for his father seuen dayes.

তাঁরা যখন জর্ডনের কাছে আটদের খামারে পৌঁছালেন, তখন তাঁরা তারস্বরে ও তীব্রভাবে কান্নাকাটি করলেন; এবং যোষেফ সেখানে তাঁর বাবার জন্য সাত দিন ধরে শোক পালন করলেন।

11 And when the Canaanites the inhabitants of the lande sawe the mourning in Goren Atad, they sayde, This is a great mourning vnto the Egyptians: wherefore the name thereof was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond Iorden.

যে কনানীয়রা সেখানে বসবাস করত, তারা যখন আটদের খামারে তাদের শোক পালন করতে দেখল, তখন তারা বলল, “মিশরীয়রা শোকের এক গুরুগম্ভীর অনুষ্ঠান পালন করছে।” সেজন্যই জর্ডনের কাছে অবস্থিত সেই স্থানটি আবেল-মিস্রয়ীম নামে আখ্যাত হল।

12 So his sonnes did vnto him, according as he had commanded them:

অতএব যাকোবের ছেলেরা তাই করলেন, যা তিনি তাঁদের আদেশ দিয়েছিলেন:

13 For his sonnes caried him into the lande of Canaan, and buried him in the caue of the fielde of Machpelah, which caue Abraham bought with the fielde, to be a place to bury in, of Ephron the Hittite besides Mamre.

তাঁরা তাঁকে কনান দেশে বয়ে নিয়ে গেলেন এবং তাঁকে মম্রির কাছে, মক্‌পেলার সেই ক্ষেতে অবস্থিত গুহায় কবর দিলেন, যেটি অব্রাহাম হিত্তীয় ইফ্রোণের কাছ থেকে ক্ষেতজমিসহ এক কবরস্থানরূপে কিনে নিয়েছিলেন।

14 Then Ioseph returned into Egypt, he and his brethren, and al that went vp with him to bury his father, after that he had buried his father.

তাঁর বাবাকে কবর দেওয়ার পর, যোষেফ তাঁর দাদা-ভাইদের ও অন্যান্য সেইসব লোকজনের সাথে মিশরে ফিরে এলেন, যারা তাঁর বাবাকে কবর দেওয়ার জন্য তাঁর সঙ্গে সেখানে গিয়েছিলেন।

15 And when Iosephs brethren saw that their father was dead, they sayde, It may be that Ioseph will hate vs, and will pay vs againe all the euill, which we did vnto him.

যোষেফের দাদা-ভাইয়েরা যখন দেখলেন যে তাঁদের বাবা মারা গিয়েছেন, তখন তাঁরা বললেন, “যোষেফ যদি আমাদের বিরুদ্ধে আক্রোশ পুষে রাখে ও তার প্রতি আমরা যেসব অন্যায় করেছি সে যদি তার প্রতিশোধ নেয়, তবে কী হবে?”

16 Therefore they sent vnto Ioseph, saying, Thy father commanded before his death, saying,

অতএব তাঁরা যোষেফের কাছে খবর পাঠিয়ে, বললেন, “তোমার বাবা মারা যাওয়ার আগে এসব নির্দেশ দিয়ে গিয়েছেন:

17 Thus shall ye say vnto Ioseph, Forgiue now, I pray thee, the trespasse of thy brethren, and their sinne: for they rewarded thee euil. And nowe, we pray thee, forgiue the trespasse of the seruants of thy fathers God. And Ioseph wept, when they spake vnto him.

‘যোষেফকে তোমাদের এই কথাটি বলতে হবে: তোমার দাদারা তোমার প্রতি এত খারাপ ব্যবহার করে যে পাপ ও অন্যায় করেছে আমি চাই তুমি যেন তা ক্ষমা করে দাও।’ এখন দয়া করে তোমার পৈত্রিক ঈশ্বরের দাসদের পাপগুলি ক্ষমা করে দাও।” তাঁদের এই খবর যখন যোষেফের কাছে এসে পৌঁছাল, তখন তিনি কেঁদে ফেললেন।

18 Also his brethren came vnto him, and fell downe before his face, and sayde, Beholde, we be thy seruants.

তাঁর দাদা-ভাইয়েরা পরে তাঁর কাছে এলেন এবং তাঁর সামনে নতমস্তক হয়ে প্রণাম করলেন। “আমরা তোমার ক্রীতদাস,” তাঁরা বললেন।

19 To whome Ioseph sayde, Feare not: for am not I vnder God?

কিন্তু যোষেফ তাঁদের বললেন, “ভয় পেয়ো না। আমি কি ঈশ্বরের স্থলাভিষিক্ত?

20 When ye thought euill against mee, God disposed it to good, that he might bring to passe, as it is this day, and saue much people aliue.

তোমরা আমার ক্ষতি করার সংকল্প করলে, কিন্তু এখন যা কিছু হয়েছে তা ভালোর জন্যই, প্রচুর প্রাণরক্ষা করার জন্য ঈশ্বরই মনস্থ করে রেখেছিলেন।

21 Feare not nowe therefore, I will nourish you, and your children: and hee comforted them, and spake kindly vnto them.

তাই এখন, ভয় পেয়ো না। আমি তোমাদের ও তোমাদের সন্তানদের জন্য রসদপত্র জোগাব।” আর তিনি আবার তাঁদের আশ্বস্ত করলেন এবং তাঁদের সাথে সদয় কথাবার্তা বললেন।

22 So Ioseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his fathers house: and Ioseph liued an hundreth and tenne yeere.

যোষেফ তাঁর পৈত্রিক পরিবারের সব লোকজনকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে মিশরে থেকে গেলেন। তিনি 110 বছর বেঁচেছিলেন

23 And Ioseph saw Ephraims children, euen vnto the third generation: also the sonnes of Machir the sonne of Manasseh were brought vp on Iosephs knees.

এবং ইফ্রয়িমের সন্তানদের তৃতীয় প্রজন্মকে স্বচক্ষে দেখলেন। এছাড়াও মনঃশির ছেলে মাখীরের সন্তানদেরও জন্মের সময় যোষেফের কোলেই রাখা হল।

24 And Ioseph sayd vnto his brethren, I am ready to dye, and God will surely visite you, and bring you out of this land, vnto ye land which hee sware vnto Abraham, vnto Izhak, and vnto Iaakob.

পরে যোষেফ তাঁর দাদা-ভাইদের বললেন, “আমি মরতে চলেছি। কিন্তু ঈশ্বর নিঃসন্দেহে তোমাদের সাহায্য করতে এগিয়ে আসবেন এবং তোমাদের এই দেশ থেকে বের করে সেই দেশে নিয়ে যাবেন, যেটি তিনি অব্রাহাম, ইস্‌হাক ও যাকোবকে দেওয়ার প্রতিজ্ঞা করেছিলেন।”

25 And Ioseph tooke an othe of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visite you, and ye shall cary my bones hence.

আর যোষেফ ইস্রায়েলীদের দিয়ে একটি প্রতিজ্ঞা করিয়ে নিলেন ও বললেন, “ঈশ্বর নিঃসন্দেহে তোমাদের সাহায্য করতে এগিয়ে আসবেন, এবং তখন তোমাদের অবশ্যই আমার অস্থি এই স্থান থেকে বয়ে নিয়ে যেতে হবে।”

26 So Ioseph died, when he was an hundreth and ten yere olde: and they enbaumed him and put him in a chest in Egypt.

অতএব যোষেফ 110 বছর বয়সে মারা গেলেন। আর তাঁরা তাঁকে সুগন্ধি বস্তু দ্বারা সংরক্ষণ করার পর তাঁর মৃতদেহ মিশরে একটি শবাধারের মধ্যে রেখে দেওয়া হল।
