Genesis 45
1 Then Ioseph could not refraine him selfe before all that stoode by him, but hee cryed, Haue forth euery man from me. And there taryed not one with him, while Ioseph vttered himselfe vnto his brethren.
Joseph ne pouvait plus se contenir, beaucoup de personnes se trouvant là présentes; c’est pourquoi il commanda que toutes sortissent dehors, et qu’aucun étranger ne fût présent à la reconnaissance mutuelle.
2 And hee wept and cried, so that the Egyptians heard: the house of Pharaoh heard also.
Alors il éleva la voix avec larmes; les Égyptiens l’entendirent et toute la maison de Pharaon.
3 Then Ioseph sayde to his brethren, I am Ioseph: doeth my father yet liue? But his brethren coulde not answere him, for they were astonished at his presence.
Et il dit à ses frères: Je suis Joseph: mon père vit-il encore? Ses frères ne pouvaient lui répondre, étant saisis d’une extrême frayeur.
4 Againe, Ioseph sayde to his brethren, Come neere, I pray you, to mee. And they came neere. And he sayde, I am Ioseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.
Mais lui avec douceur: Approchez-vous de moi, dit-il. Et quand ils se furent approchés bien près: Je suis, ajouta-t-il, Joseph votre frère, que vous avez vendu pour l’Égypte.
5 Nowe therefore be not sad, neither grieued with your selues, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you for your preseruation.
Ne craignez point, et qu’il ne vous semble point pénible de m’avoir vendu en ces régions; car c’est pour votre salut que Dieu m’a envoyé avant vous en Égypte.
6 For nowe two yeeres of famine haue bene through ye land, and fiue yeeres are behind, wherein neither shalbe earing nor haruest.
Car il y a deux ans que la famine a commencé à être sur la terre, et il reste encore cinq ans pendant lesquels on ne pourra ni labourer ni moissonner.
7 Wherefore God sent me before you to preserue your posteritie in this land, and to saue you aliue by a great deliuerance.
Dieu m’a donc envoyé ici avant vous, afin que vous soyez conservés sur la terre, et que vous puissiez avoir des vivres pour subsister.
8 Now the you sent not me hither, but God, who hath made mee a father vnto Pharaoh, and lorde of all his house, and ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
Ce n’est point par votre conseil, mais par la volonté de Dieu que j’ai été envoyé ici: il m’a établi comme père de Pharaon, maître de toute sa maison, et prince dans toute la terre d’Égypte.
9 Haste you and go vp to my father, and tel him, Thus saieth thy sonne Ioseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come downe to me, tary not.
Hâtez-vous, montez vers mon père, et vous lui direz: Voici ce que vous mande votre fils Joseph: Dieu m’a établi maître de toute la terre d’Égypte; descendez vers moi, ne tardez point.
10 And thou shalt dwel in ye land of Goshen, and shalt be neere me, thou and thy children, and thy childrens children, and thy sheepe, and thy beastes, and all that thou hast.
Vous habiterez dans la terre de Gessen; et vous serez près de moi, vous et vos fils et les fils de vos fils; vos brebis et vos troupeaux de gros bétail et tout ce que vous possédez.
11 Also I will nourish thee there (for yet remaine fiue yeeres of famine) lest thou perish through pouertie, thou and thy houshold, and all that thou hast.
Et là je vous nourrirai (car il reste encore cinq années de famine), afin que vous ne périssiez pas et vous et votre maison et tout ce que vous possédez.
12 And behold, your eyes doe see, and the eyes of my brother Beniamin, that my mouth speaketh to you.
Voici que vos yeux et les yeux de mon frère Benjamin voient que c’est ma bouche qui vous parle.
13 Therefore tel my father of al mine honour in Egypt, and of all that ye haue seene, and make haste, and bring my father hither.
Annoncez à mon père toute ma gloire et tout ce que vous avez vu en Égypte: hâtez-vous et amenez-le-moi.
14 Then hee fell on his brother Beniamins necke, and wept, and Beniamin wept on his necke.
Et lorsque l’embrassant il fut retombé sur le cou de Benjamin son frère, il pleura, Benjamin aussi pleurant pareillement sur le cou de Joseph.
15 Moreouer, he kissed all his brethren, and wept vpon them: and afterwarde his brethren talked with him.
Joseph embrassa ensuite tous ses frères et pleura sur chacun d’eux; après quoi ils osèrent lui parler.
16 And the tidinges came vnto Pharaohs house, so that they said, Iosephs brethre are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his seruants.
Et l’on entendit et l’on publia hautement à la cour du roi: Les frères de Joseph sont venus; et Pharaon s’en réjouit et toute sa famille.
17 Then Pharaoh said vnto Ioseph, Say to thy brethren, This doe ye, lade your beastes and depart, go to the land of Canaan,
Et il dit à Joseph qu’il commandât à ses frères, disant: Chargez vos bêtes et vous en allez dans la terre de Chanaan;
18 And take your father, and your houshoulds, and come to me, and I wil giue you the best of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eate of the fat of the land.
Et amenez de là votre père et votre parenté, et venez à moi: et moi je vous donnerai tous les biens de l’Égypte, afin que vous vous nourrissiez de la moelle de cette terre.
19 And I commaund thee, Thus doe ye, take you charets out of the lande of Egypt for your children, and for your wiues, and bring your father and come.
Ordonne aussi qu’ils prennent des chars de la terre d’Égypte pour le transport de leurs petits enfants et de leurs femmes; et dis-leur: Amenez votre père et hâtez-vous de venir au plus tôt.
20 Also regarde not your stuffe: for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.
Ne laissez rien de vos meubles; car toutes les richesses de l’Égypte seront à vous.
21 And the children of Israel did so: and Ioseph gaue them charets according to the commandement of Pharaoh: hee gaue them vitaile also for the iourney.
Et les fils d’Israël firent comme il leur avait été commandé. Joseph leur donna des chars selon l’ordre de Pharaon, et des vivres pour le chemin.
22 He gaue them all, none except, change of raiment: but vnto Beniamin he gaue three hundreth pieces of siluer, and fiue sutes of raiment.
Il ordonna qu’on leur remît aussi à chacun deux robes; mais à Benjamin il donna trois cents pièces d’argent avec cinq robes des plus belles:
23 And vnto his father likewise hee sent ten hee asses laden with the best things of Egypt, and ten shee asses laden with wheate, and bread and meate for his father by the way.
Envoyant à son père autant d’argent et de vêtements; ajoutant même dix ânes chargés de toutes les richesses de l’Égypte, et un nombre égal d’ânesses portant du blé et du pain pour le chemin.
24 So sent he his brethren away, and they departed: and he sayde vnto them, Fall not out by the way.
Il renvoya donc ses frères, et leur dit, lorsqu’ils partaient: Ne vous fâchez pas en route.
25 Then they went vp from Egypt, and came vnto the land of Canaan vnto Iaakob their father,
Ceux-ci, montant de l’Égypte, vinrent dans la terre de Chanaan, vers leur père Jacob,
26 And tolde him, saying, Ioseph is yet aliue, and he also is gouernour ouer all the lande of Egypt, and Iaakobs heart failed: for he beleeued them not.
Et lui portèrent le message, disant: Joseph votre fils vit encore, et c’est lui qui commande dans toute la terre d’Égypte. Ce qu’ayant entendu Jacob, il s’éveilla comme d’un profond sommeil; mais il ne les croyait pas.
27 And they told him al the words of Ioseph, which he had said vnto the: but when he saw the charets, which Ioseph had sent to cary him, then the spirit of Iaakob their father reuiued.
Eux au contraire lui rapportaient toute la suite de la chose; et quand il vit les chars et tout ce que Joseph avait envoyé, son esprit se ranima.
28 And Israel said, I haue inough: Ioseph my sonne is yet aliue: I will go and see him yer I die.
Et il dit: Il me suffit, si Joseph mon fils vit encore: j’irai et je le verrai avant que je meure.
