Genesis 34
1 Then Dinah the daughter of Leah, which she bare vnto Iaakob, went out to see the daughters of that countrey.
১আর লেয়ার মেয়ে দীণা, যাকে তিনি যাকোবের জন্য প্রসব করেছিলেন, সেই দেশের মেয়েদের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে বাইরে গেল।
2 Whome when Shechem the sonne of Hamor the Hiuite lorde of that countrey sawe, hee tooke her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
২আর হিব্বীয় হমোর যিনি সেই দেশের রাজা ছিলেন তার ছেলে শিখিম তাকে দেখতে পেল এবং তাকে ধরে নিয়ে তার সঙ্গে শয়ন করল, তাঁকে ভ্রষ্ট করল।
3 So his heart claue vnto Dinah the daughter of Iaakob: and he loued the maide, and spake kindely vnto the maide.
৩আর যাকোবের মেয়ে দীণার প্রতি তাঁর প্রাণ অনুরক্ত হওয়াতে সে সেই যুবতীকে প্রেম করল ও তাকে স্নেহপূর্বক কথা বলল।
4 Then said Shechem to his father Hamor, saying, Get me this maide to wife.
৪পরে শিখিম নিজের বাবা হমোরকে বলল, “তুমি আমার সঙ্গে বিয়ে দেবার জন্য এই মেয়েকে গ্রহণ কর।”
5 (Nowe Iaakob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter, and his sonnes were with his cattell in the fielde: therefore Iaakob helde his peace, vntill they were come.)
৫আর যাকোব শুনলেন, সে তার মেয়ে দীণাকে ভ্রষ্ট করেছে; ঐ দিনের তার ছেলেরা মাঠে পশুপালের সঙ্গে ছিল; আর যাকোব তাদের আসা পর্যন্ত চুপ থাকলেন।
6 Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out vnto Iaakob to commune with him.
৬পরে শিখিমের বাবা হমোর যাকোবের সঙ্গে কথাবার্তা বলতে গেল।
7 And whe the sonnes of Iaakob were come out of the fielde and heard it, it grieued the men, and they were very angry, because he had wrought villenie in Israel, in that he had lyen with Iaakobs daughter: which thing ought not to be done.
৭যাকোবের ছেলেরাও ঐ খবর পেয়ে মাঠ থেকে এসেছিল; তারা ক্ষুব্ধ ও খুব রেগে গিয়েছিল, কারণ যাকোবের মেয়ের সঙ্গে শয়ন করাতে শিখিম ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে মূর্খামি ও অকর্তব্য কাজ করেছিল।
8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, the soule of my sonne Shechem longeth for your daughter: giue her him to wife, I pray you.
৮তখন হমোর তাদের সঙ্গে কথাবার্তা বলে বলল, “তোমাদের সেই মেয়ের প্রতি আমার ছেলে শিখিমের প্রাণ আসক্ত হয়েছে; অনুরোধ করি, আমার ছেলের সঙ্গে তার বিয়ে দাও।
9 So make affinitie with vs: giue your daughters vnto vs, and take our daughters vnto you,
৯এবং আমাদের সঙ্গে আত্মীয়তা কর; তোমাদের মেয়েদেরকে আমাদেরকে দান কর এবং আমাদের মেয়েদেরকে তোমরা গ্রহণ কর। আর আমাদের সঙ্গে বাস কর;
10 And ye shall dwell with vs, and the lande shalbe before you: dwell, and doe your businesse in it, and haue your possessions therein.
১০এই দেশ তোমাদের সামনে থাকল, তোমরা এখানে বসবাস ও ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য কর, এখানে অধিকার গ্রহণ কর।”
11 Shechem also said vnto her father and vnto her brethren, Let me finde fauour in your eyes, and I will giue whatsoeuer ye shall appoint me.
১১আর শিখিম দীণার বাবাকে ও ভাইদেরকে বলল, “আমার প্রতি তোমাদের অনুগ্রহ দৃষ্টি হোক; তা হলে যা বলবে, তাই দেব।
12 Aske of me abundantly both dowrie and giftes, and I will giue as ye appoint me, so that ye giue me the maide to wife.
১২পণ ও দান যত বেশি চাইবে, তোমাদের কথানুসারে তাই দেব; কোনো মতে আমার সঙ্গে ঐ মেয়ের বিয়ে দাও।”
13 Then the sonnes of Iaakob answered Shechem and Hamor his father, talking deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah their sister,
১৩কিন্তু সে তাদের বোন দীণাকে ভ্রষ্ট করেছিল বলে যাকোবের ছেলেরা ছলনার সাথে আলাপ করে শিখিমকে ও তাঁর বাবা হমোরকে উত্তর দিল;
14 And they said vnto them, We can not do this thing, to giue our sister to an vncircumcised man: for that were a reproofe vnto vs.
১৪তারা তাদেরকে বলল, “অচ্ছিন্নত্বক লোককে যে আমাদের বোনকে দিই, এমন কাজ আমরা করতে পারিনা; করলে আমাদের বদনাম হবে।
15 But in this will we consent vnto you, if ye will be as we are, that euery man childe among you be circumcised:
১৫শুধু এই কাজটি করলে আমরা তোমাদের কথায় রাজি হব; আমাদের মতো তোমরা প্রত্যেক পুরুষ যদি ছিন্নত্বক হও,
16 Then will we giue our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to vs, and will dwell with you, and be one people.
১৬তবে আমরা তোমাদেরকে নিজেদের মেয়েদের দেব এবং তোমাদের মেয়েদেরকে গ্রহণ করব ও তোমাদের সঙ্গে বাস করে এক জাতি হব।
17 But if ye will not hearken vnto vs to be circumcised, then will we take our daughter and depart.
১৭কিন্তু যদি ত্বকছেদের বিষয়ে আমাদের কথা না শোন, তবে আমরা নিজেদের ঐ মেয়েকে নিয়ে চলে যাব।”
18 Nowe their wordes pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamors sonne.
১৮তখন তাদের এই কথায় হমোর ও তার ছেলে শিখিম সন্তুষ্ট হল।
19 And the yong man deferd not to doe the thing because he loued Iaakobs daughter: he was also the most set by of all his fathers house.
১৯আর সেই যুবক তাড়াতাড়ি সেই কাজ করল, কারণ সে যাকোবের মেয়েতে প্রীত হয়েছিল; আর সে নিজের বাবার বংশে সবচেয়ে সম্মানীত ছিল।
20 Then Hamor and Shechem his Sonne went vnto the gate of their citie, and communed with the men of their citie, saying,
২০পরে হমোর ও তার ছেলে শিখিম নিজের নগরের দরজায় এসে নগর নিবাসীদের সঙ্গে আলোচনা বলে বলল,
21 These men are peaceable with vs: and that they may dwell in the land, and doe their affaires therin (for behold, the land hath roume ynough for them) let vs take their daughters to wiues, and giue them our daughters.
২১“সেই লোকেরা আমাদের সঙ্গে শান্তিতে আছে; তাই তারা এই দেশে বসবাস ও ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য করুক; কারণ দেখ, তাদের সামনে দেশটি সুপ্রশস্ত; এস, আমরা তাদের মেয়েদেরকে গ্রহণ করি ও আমাদের মেয়েদেরকে তাদেরকে দিই।
22 Onely herein will the men consent vnto vs for to dwell with vs, and to be one people, if all the men children among vs be circumcised as they are circumcised.
২২কিন্তু তাদের এই এক পণ আছে, আমাদের মধ্যে প্রত্যেক পুরুষ যদি তাদের মত ছিন্নত্বক হয়, তবে তারা আমাদের সঙ্গে বাস করে এক জাতি হতে রাজি আছে।
23 Shall not their flockes and their substance and all their cattell be ours? onely let vs consent herein vnto them, and they will dwell with vs.
২৩আর তাদের ধন, সম্পত্তি ও পশু সব কি আমাদের হবে না? আমরা তাদের কথায় রাজি হলেই তারা আমাদের সঙ্গে বাস করবে।”
24 And vnto Hamor, and Shechem his sonne hearkened all that went out of the gate of his citie: and all the men children were circumcised, euen all that went out of the gate of his citie.
২৪তখন হমোরের ও তার ছেলে শিখিমের কথায় তার নগরের দরজা দিয়ে যে সব লোক বাইরে যেত, তারা রাজি হল, আর তার নগর দরজা দিয়ে যে সব পুরুষ বাইরে যেত, তাদের ত্বকছেদ করা হল।
25 And on the thirde day (when they were sore) two of the sonnes of Iaakob, Simeon and Leui, Dinahs brethren tooke either of them his sworde and went into the citie boldly, and slue euery male.
২৫পরে তৃতীয় দিনের যন্ত্রণায় পরিপূর্ণ হলে দীণার ভাই শিমিয়ন ও লেবি, যাকোবের এই দুই ছেলে নিজের নিজের খড়্গ গ্রহণ করে নির্ভয়ে নগর আক্রমণ করতঃ সকল পুরুষকে হত্যা করল।
26 They slewe also Hamor and Shechem his sonne with the edge of the sword, and tooke Dinah out of Shechems house, and went their way.
২৬এবং হমোর ও তার ছেলে শিখিমকে তরবারির আঘাতে হত্যা করে শিখিমের বাড়ি থেকে দীণাকে নিয়ে চলে আসল।
27 Againe the other sonnes of Iaakob came vpon the dead, and spoyled the citie, because they had defiled their sister.
২৭ওরা তাদের বোনকে ভ্রষ্ট করেছিল, এই জন্য যাকোবের ছেলেরা নিহত লোকদের কাছে গিয়ে নগর লুট করল।
28 They tooke their sheepe and their beeues, and their asses, and whatsoeuer was in the citie, and in the fieldes.
২৮তারা ওদের ভেড়া, গরু ও গাধা সব এবং নগরের ও ক্ষেত্রের যাবতীয় দ্রব্য বাজেয়াপ্ত করল;
29 Also they caryed away captiue and spoyled all their goods, and all their children and their wiues, and all that was in the houses.
২৯আর ওদের শিশু ও স্ত্রীদেরকে বন্দি করে ওদের সমস্ত ধন ও গৃহের সর্বস্ব লুট করল।
30 Then Iaakob said to Simeon and Leui, Ye haue troubled me, and made me stinke among the inhabitats of the land, aswell the Canaanites, as the Perizzites, and and I being few in nomber, they shall gather theselues together against me, and slay me, and so shall I, and my house be destroied.
৩০তখন যাকোব শিমিয়ন ও লেবিকে বললেন, “তোমরা এই দেশনিবাসী কনানীয় ও পরিষীয়দের কাছে আমাকে দূর্গন্ধস্বরূপ করে ব্যাকুল করলে; আমার লোক অল্প, তারা আমার বিরুদ্ধে জড়ো হয়ে আমাকে আঘাত করবে; আর আমি সপরিবারে বিনষ্ট হব।”
31 And they answered, Shoulde hee abuse our sister as a whore?
৩১তারা উত্তর করল, যেমন বেশ্যার সঙ্গে, তেমনি আমার বোনের সঙ্গে ব্যবহার করা কি তার উচিত ছিল?
