Genesis 33
1 And as Iaakob lift vp his eyes, and looked, behold, Esau came, and with him foure hundreth men: and he deuided the children to Leah, and to Rahel, and to the two maides.
Og Jakob opløftede sine Øjne og saa, og se, Esau kom, og fire Hundrede Mand med ham, og han fordelte Børnene til Lea og til Rakel og til begge Tjenestekvinderne.
2 And he put the maides, and their children formost, and Leah, and her children after, and Rahel, and Ioseph hindermost.
Og han satte Tjenestekvinderne og deres Børn først og Lea og hendes Børn derefter og Rakel og Josef bagest.
3 So he went before them and bowed him selfe to the ground seuen times, vntill he came neere to his brother.
Og han gik selv frem foran dem og bøjede sig til Jorden syv Gange, indtil han kom til sin Broder.
4 Then Esau ranne to meete him, and embraced him, and fell on his necke, and kissed him, and they wept.
Og Esau løb mod ham og tog ham i Favn og faldt om hans Hals og kyssede ham, og de græd.
5 And he lift vp his eyes, and sawe the women, and the children, and saide, Who are these with thee? And he answered, They are ye childre whome God of his grace hath giuen thy seruant.
Og han opløftede sine Øjne og saa Kvinderne og Børnene og sagde: Hvo ere disse, som ere med dig? og han sagde: Det er de Børn, som Gud har skænket din Tjener.
6 Then came the maides neere, they, and their children, and bowed themselues.
Saa gik Tjenestekvinderne frem og deres Børn og nejede.
7 Leah also with her children came neere and made obeysance: and after Ioseph and Rahel drew neere, and did reuerence.
Og Lea gik ogsaa frem og hendes Børn og nejede, og derefter kom Josef og Rakel frem og nejede.
8 Then he said, What meanest thou by all this droue, which I met? Who answered, I haue sent it, that I may finde fauour in the sight of my lorde:
Og han sagde: Hvad vil du med al denne Hær, som jeg mødte? og han sagde: For at jeg maa finde Naade for min Herres Øjne.
9 And Esau said, I haue ynough, my brother: keepe that thou hast to thy selfe.
Og Esau sagde: Jeg har meget, min Broder! behold du, hvad dit er.
10 But Iaakob answered, Nay, I pray thee: if I haue found grace nowe in thy sight, then receiue my present at mine hande: for I haue seene thy face, as though I had seene the face of God, because thou hast accepted me.
Og Jakob sagde: Nej, kære, dersom jeg nu har fundet Naade for dig, da annam min Skænk af min Haand; thi derfor saa jeg dit Ansigt, som naar man kunde se Guds Ansigt, og du var mig naadig.
11 I pray thee take my blessing, that is brought thee: for God hath had mercie on me, and therefore I haue all things: so he compelled him, and he tooke it.
Kære, tag min Velsignelse, som er bragt til dig; thi Gud skænkede mig den, og jeg har alt dette; saa nødte han ham, og han tog det.
12 And he saide, Let vs take our iourney and go, and I will goe before thee.
Og han sagde: Lad os drage frem og vandre, og jeg vil vandre videre med dig.
13 Then he answered him, My lord knoweth, that the children are tender, and the ewes and kine with yong vnder mine hande: and if they should ouerdriue them one day, all the flocke would die.
Og han sagde til ham: Min Herre ved, at Børnene ere svage, og her er Kvæg og nybære Køer med mig, og overdrev man dem en Dag, da døde alt Kvæget.
14 Let now my lord go before his seruant, and I will driue softly, according to ye pase of ye cattel, which is before me, and as the children be able to endure, vntill I come to my lord vnto Seir.
Min Herre rejse nu frem for sin Tjeners Aasyn, og jeg vil drive saa sagteligen, efter som Hjorden, der er for mig, kan gaa, og Børnene kunne gaa, indtil jeg kommer til min Herre, til Sejr.
15 Then Esau said, I will leaue then some of my folke with thee. And he answered, what needeth this? let me finde grace in the sight of my lorde.
Og Esau sagde: Kære, jeg vil lade nogle af det Folk, som er med mig, blive hos dig; og han sagde: Hvortil det? lad mig finde Naade for min Herres Øjne.
16 So Esau returned, and went his way that same day vnto Seir.
Saa drog Esau samme Dag tilbage ad sin Vej til Sejr.
17 And Iaakob went forwarde towarde Succoth, and built him an house, and made boothes for his cattell: therefore he called the name of the place Succoth.
Og Ja kob drog til Sukoth og byggede sig et Hus og gjorde Hytter til sit Kvæg; derfor kaldte han Stedets Navn Sukoth.
18 Afterward, Iaakob came safe to Sheche a citie, which is in the lande of Canaan, when he came from Padan Aram, and pitched before the citie.
Og Jakob kom lykkeligt den Stad Sikem, som er i det Land Kanaan, der han kom fra Paddan-Aram, og han slog Lejr foran Staden.
19 And there he bought a parcell of ground, where hee pitched his tent, at the hande of the sonnes of Hamor Shechems father, for an hundreth pieces of money.
Og han købte det Stykke Ager, paa hvilket han havde slaget Telt op, af Hemors, Sikems Faders, Sønner, for hundrede Penninge.
20 And he set vp there an altar, and called it, The mightie God of Israel.
Og han oprejste der et Alter og kaldte det: Gud er Israels Gud.
