Genesis 33
1 And as Iaakob lift vp his eyes, and looked, behold, Esau came, and with him foure hundreth men: and he deuided the children to Leah, and to Rahel, and to the two maides.
যাকোব চোখ তুলে তাকিয়ে সেই এষৌকে দেখতে পেলেন, যিনি 400 জন লোক নিয়ে এগিয়ে আসছিলেন; অতএব তিনি লেয়া, রাহেল ও দুই দাসীর মধ্যে সন্তানদের ভাগাভাগি করে দিলেন।
2 And he put the maides, and their children formost, and Leah, and her children after, and Rahel, and Ioseph hindermost.
সামনের দিকে তিনি দাসীদের ও তাদের সন্তানদের, পরে লেয়া ও তাঁর সন্তানদের এবং পিছন দিকে রাহেল ও যোষেফকে রাখলেন।
3 So he went before them and bowed him selfe to the ground seuen times, vntill he came neere to his brother.
তিনি স্বয়ং সবার আগে এগিয়ে গেলেন এবং তাঁর দাদার কাছাকাছি পৌঁছে সাতবার মাটিতে মাথা ঠেকিয়ে অভিবাদন জানালেন।
4 Then Esau ranne to meete him, and embraced him, and fell on his necke, and kissed him, and they wept.
কিন্তু এষৌ যাকোবের সঙ্গে দেখা করার জন্য ছুটে এলেন এবং তাঁকে আলিঙ্গন করলেন; তিনি দু-হাতে তাঁর গলা জড়িয়ে ধরে তাঁকে চুমু দিলেন। আর তাঁরা কান্নাকাটি করলেন।
5 And he lift vp his eyes, and sawe the women, and the children, and saide, Who are these with thee? And he answered, They are ye childre whome God of his grace hath giuen thy seruant.
পরে এষৌ মুখ তুলে তাকালেন এবং সব মহিলা ও সন্তানকে দেখতে পেলেন। “তোমার সঙ্গে এরা কারা?” তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন। যাকোব উত্তর দিলেন, “এরা সেইসব সন্তানসন্ততি যাদের ঈশ্বর অনুগ্রহ করে আপনার এই দাসকে দিয়েছেন।”
6 Then came the maides neere, they, and their children, and bowed themselues.
তখন দাসীরা ও তাদের সন্তানেরা এগিয়ে এসে অভিবাদন জানাল।
7 Leah also with her children came neere and made obeysance: and after Ioseph and Rahel drew neere, and did reuerence.
পরে, লেয়া ও তাঁর সন্তানেরা এসে অভিবাদন জানালেন। সবশেষে যোষেফ ও রাহেল এলেন, এবং তাঁরাও অভিবাদন জানালেন।
8 Then he said, What meanest thou by all this droue, which I met? Who answered, I haue sent it, that I may finde fauour in the sight of my lorde:
এষৌ জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “যেসব মেষ ও পশুপালের সঙ্গে আমার দেখা হল, সেগুলির অর্থ কী?” “হে আমার প্রভু, আপনার দৃষ্টিতে দয়া পাওয়ার জন্য,” তিনি বললেন।
9 And Esau said, I haue ynough, my brother: keepe that thou hast to thy selfe.
কিন্তু এষৌ বললেন, “হে আমার ভাই, আমার কাছে তো যথেষ্ট আছে। তোমার কাছে যা আছে, তা নিজের জন্যই রেখে দাও।”
10 But Iaakob answered, Nay, I pray thee: if I haue found grace nowe in thy sight, then receiue my present at mine hande: for I haue seene thy face, as though I had seene the face of God, because thou hast accepted me.
যাকোব বললেন, “আপনার দৃষ্টিতে আমি যদি দয়া পেয়েছি, তবে দয়া করে আমার কাছ থেকে এই উপহারটি গ্রহণ করুন। কারণ আপনার মুখ দেখার অর্থ হল ঈশ্বরেরই মুখ দেখা, যেহেতু এখন আপনি দয়া দেখিয়ে আমাকে গ্রহণ করেছেন।
11 I pray thee take my blessing, that is brought thee: for God hath had mercie on me, and therefore I haue all things: so he compelled him, and he tooke it.
আপনার কাছে যে উপহারটি আনা হয়েছে তা দয়া করে গ্রহণ করুন, কারণ ঈশ্বর আমার প্রতি অনুগ্রহশীল হয়েছেন এবং আমার যা যা প্রয়োজন তা আমার কাছে আছে।” আর যেহেতু যাকোব পীড়াপীড়ি করলেন, তাই এষৌ তা গ্রহণ করলেন।
12 And he saide, Let vs take our iourney and go, and I will goe before thee.
পরে এষৌ বললেন, “চলো আমরা রওনা দিই; আমিও তোমাদের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে যাব।”
13 Then he answered him, My lord knoweth, that the children are tender, and the ewes and kine with yong vnder mine hande: and if they should ouerdriue them one day, all the flocke would die.
কিন্তু যাকোব তাঁকে বললেন, “আমার প্রভু তো জানেন যে শিশুসন্তানেরা সুকুমার এবং আমাকে সেইসব মেষীর ও গরুর যত্ন নিতে হবে, যারা তাদের শাবকদের শুশ্রুষা করছে। একদিনেই যদি তাদের জোরে তাড়িয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়, তবে সব পশু মারা যাবে।
14 Let now my lord go before his seruant, and I will driue softly, according to ye pase of ye cattel, which is before me, and as the children be able to endure, vntill I come to my lord vnto Seir.
অতএব আমার প্রভুই তাঁর দাসের আগে আগে চলে যান, আর যতক্ষণ না আমি আমার প্রভুর কাছে সেয়ীরে উপস্থিত হতে পারছি, ততক্ষণ আমি আমার আগে আগে যাওয়া মেষ ও পশুপালের এবং শিশু সন্তানদের গতির সাথে তাল মিলিয়ে এগিয়ে যাচ্ছি।”
15 Then Esau said, I will leaue then some of my folke with thee. And he answered, what needeth this? let me finde grace in the sight of my lorde.
এষৌ বললেন, “তবে আমার কিছু লোকজন তোমাদের কাছে ছেড়ে যাই!” “কিন্তু তা কেন করবেন?” যাকোব জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন। “আমার প্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে শুধু আমাকে দয়া পেতে দিন।”
16 So Esau returned, and went his way that same day vnto Seir.
অতএব সেদিন এষৌ সেয়ীরের দিকে ফিরে যাওয়ার জন্য যাত্রা শুরু করলেন।
17 And Iaakob went forwarde towarde Succoth, and built him an house, and made boothes for his cattell: therefore he called the name of the place Succoth.
যাকোব, অবশ্য, সেই সুক্কোতে চলে গেলেন, যেখানে তিনি নিজের জন্য এক বাড়ি ও তাঁর গৃহপালিত পশুপালের জন্য নিরাপদ আশ্রয়স্থল তৈরি করলেন। সেই কারণে সেই স্থানটিকে সুক্কোৎ বলে ডাকা হয়।
18 Afterward, Iaakob came safe to Sheche a citie, which is in the lande of Canaan, when he came from Padan Aram, and pitched before the citie.
পদ্দন-আরাম থেকে চলে আসার পর যাকোব নিরাপদে কনান দেশের শিখিম নগরে পৌঁছে গেলেন এবং সেই নগরের কাছেই নিজের শিবির স্থাপন করলেন।
19 And there he bought a parcell of ground, where hee pitched his tent, at the hande of the sonnes of Hamor Shechems father, for an hundreth pieces of money.
100 রৌপমুদ্রা দিয়ে, তিনি শিখিমের বাবা হমোরের ছেলেদের কাছ থেকে সেই জমিখণ্ডটি কিনলেন, যেখানে তিনি তাঁবু খাটিয়েছিলেন।
20 And he set vp there an altar, and called it, The mightie God of Israel.
সেখানে তিনি একটি যজ্ঞবেদি নির্মাণ করে সেটির নাম রাখলেন এল্-এলোহে-ইস্রায়েল।
