Genesis 28
1 Then Izhak called Iaakob and blessed him, and charged him, and sayde vnto him, Take not a wife of the daughters of Canaan.
Då kallade Isaac sin son Jacob, och välsignade honom, och böd honom, och sade till honom: Tag icke hustru af Canaans döttrar;
2 Arise, get thee to Padan Aram to the house of Bethuel thy mothers father, and thence take thee a wife of the daughters of Laban thy mothers brother.
Utan gör dig redo, och far in i Mesopotamien till Bethuel, dins moderfaders hus, och tag dig der hustru af Labans dins moderbroders döttrar.
3 And God all sufficient blesse thee, and make thee to encrease, and multiplie thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people,
Men allsmägtig Gud välsigne dig, och göre dig fruktsam, och föröke dig, så att du varder en skare med folk;
4 And giue thee the blessing of Abraham, euen to thee and to thy seede with thee, that thou mayest inherite the lande (wherein thou art a stranger, ) which God gaue vnto Abraham.
Och gifve dig Abrahams välsignelse, dig och dine säd med dig; att du må besitta det land, der du en främling uti äst, det Gud Abraham gifvit hafver.
5 Thus Izhak sent forth Iaakob, and he went to Padan Aram vnto Laban sonne of Bethuel the Aramite, brother to Rebekah, Iaakobs and Esaus mother.
Så skilde Isaac Jacob ifrå sig, att han for in i Mesopotamien till Laban Bethuels son af Syrien, Rebeckas broder, som hans och Esaus moder var.
6 When Esau sawe that Izhak had blessed Iaakob, and sent him to Padan Aram, to set him a wife thence, and giuen him a charge when he blessed him, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan,
När nu Esau såg, att Isaac hade välsignat Jacob, och sändt honom in i Mesopotamien, att han skulle der taga sig hustru; och att sedan han honom välsignat hade, böd han honom, och sade: Du skall ingen hustru taga af Canaans döttrar:
7 And that Iaakob had obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padan Aram:
Och att Jacob var sinom fader och moder lydig, och for in i Mesopotamien:
8 Also Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan displeased Izhak his father,
Såg ock, att Isaac hans fader såg icke gerna Canaans döttrar:
9 Then went Esau to Ishmael, and tooke vnto the wiues, which he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abrahams sonne, the sister of Nabaioth, to be his wife.
Gick han bort till Ismael, och tog, utöfver de hustrur han tillförene hade, Mahalath, Ismaels Abrahams sons dotter, Nebajoths syster, till hustru.
10 Now Iaakob departed from Beer-sheba, and went to Haran,
Men Jacob for ut ifrå BerSaba, och reste till Haran.
11 And he came vnto a certaine place, and taried there al night, because the sunne was downe, and tooke of the stones of the place, and layde vnder his head and slept in the same place.
Och kom på ett rum, der blef han öfver nattena, förty solen var bärgad; och han tog en sten der på rummena, och lade honom under sitt hufvud, och lade sig i samma rum till att sofva.
12 Then he dreamed, and behold, there stoode a ladder vpon the earth, and the top of it reached vp to heauen: and loe, the Angels of God went vp and downe by it.
Och honom drömde, och si, en stege stod på jordene, och änden på honom tog upp i himmelen: Och si, Guds Änglar stego derpå upp och neder.
13 And behold, the Lord stoode aboue it, and sayd, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Izhak: the land, vpon the which thou sleepest, wil I giue thee and thy seede.
Och Herren stod der öfverst uppå, och sade: Jag är Herren, Abrahams och dins faders Gud, och Isaacs Gud: Det landet, som du ligger uppå, skall jag gifva dig och dine säd.
14 And thy seede shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the West, and to the East, and to the North, and to the South, and in thee and in thy seede shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Och din säd skall varda såsom stoftet på jordene; och du skall varda utspridder vester ut, öster ut, norr ut, och söder ut, och genom dig och dina säd skola alla slägter på jordene varda välsignade.
15 And lo, I am with thee, and wil keepe thee whithersoeuer thou goest, and will bring thee againe into this lande: for I will not forsake thee vntill I haue performed that, that I haue promised thee.
Och si, jag är med dig, och skall förvara dig ehvart du far, och skall föra dig åter i detta landet igen. Och skall icke öfvergifva dig, till des jag gör allt det jag dig sagt hafver.
16 Then Iaakob awoke out of his sleepe, and sayde, Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware.
Då nu Jacob vaknade upp af sin sömn, sade han: Visserliga är Herren i detta rum, och jag vistet icke.
17 And he was afraid, and said, How fearefull is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heauen.
Och fruktade han sig, och sade: Detta måste vara ett heligt rum; ty här bor visserliga Gud, och här är himmelens port.
18 Then Iaakob rose vp early in the morning, and tooke the stone that hee had layde vnder his head, and set it vp as a pillar, and powred oyle vpon the top of it.
Och Jacob stod upp om morgonen bittida, och tog stenen, som han hade lagt under sitt hufvud, och reste honom upp till en vård, och gjöt oljo der ofvan på.
19 And he called ye name of that place Bethel: notwithstanding the name of the citie was at the first called Luz.
Och kallade det rummet BethEl; men tillförene hette den staden Lus.
20 Then Iaakob vowed a vowe, saying, If God will be with me, and will keepe me in this iourney which I go, and wil giue me bread to eate, and clothes to put on:
Och Jacob gjorde ett löfte, och sade: Om så är, att Gud blifver med mig, och förvarar mig på denna vägen, som jag reser, och gifver mig bröd till att äta, och kläder till att klädas med;
21 So that I come againe vnto my fathers house in safetie, then shall the Lord be my God.
Och förer mig med strid åter hem igen till min fader; så skall Herren vara min Gud.
22 And this stone, which I haue set vp as a pillar, shall be Gods house: and of all that thou shalt giue me, wil I giue the tenth vnto thee.
Och denne stenen, som jag upprest hafver till en vård, skall varda ett Guds hus: Och allt det du mig gifver, der vill jag gifva dig tionde af.
