Genesis 25
1 Nowe Abraham had taken him another wife called Keturah,
Or Abraham prit une autre femme, nommée Kétura,
2 Which bare him Zimran, and Iokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
Qui lui enfanta Zimram, Joksan, Médan, Madian, Jisba, et Suah.
3 And Iokshan begate Sheba, and Dedan: And the sonnes of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
Et Joksan engendra Séba et Dédan. Et les enfants de Dédan furent Assurim, et Létusim, et Léummim.
4 Also the sonnes of Midian were Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah all these were the sonnes of Keturah.
Et les enfants de Madian furent Hépha, Hépher, Hanoc, Abidah, Eldaha. Tous ceux-là sont enfants de Kétura.
5 And Abraham gaue all his goods to Izhak,
Et Abraham donna tout ce qui lui [appartenait] à Isaac.
6 But vnto the sonnes of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gaue giftes, and sent them away from Izhak his sonne (while he yet liued) Eastward to the East countrey.
Mais il fit des présents aux fils de ses concubines, et les envoya loin de son fils Isaac, vers l'Orient au pays d'Orient, lui étant encore en vie.
7 And this is the age of Abrahams life, which he liued, an hundreth seuentie and fiue yeere.
Et les ans que vécut Abraham furent cent soixante et quinze ans.
8 Then Abraham yeelded the spirit, and died in a good age, an olde man, and of great yeeres, and was gathered to his people.
Et Abraham défaillant, mourut dans une heureuse vieillesse, fort âgé, et rassasié [de jours], et fut recueilli vers ses peuples.
9 And his sonnes, Izhak and Ishmael buryed him in the caue of Machpelah, in the fielde of Ephron sonne of Zohar the Hittite, before Mamre.
Et Isaac et Ismaël ses fils l'enterrèrent en la caverne de Macpéla, au champ d'Héphron, fils de Tsohar Héthien, qui est vis-à-vis de Mamré.
10 Which fielde Abraham bought of the Hittites, where Abraham was buryed with Sarah his wife.
Le champ qu'Abraham avait acheté des Héthiens: là fut enterré Abraham avec Sara sa femme.
11 And after the death of Abraham God blessed Izhak his sonne, and Izhak dwelt by Beer-lahai-roi.
Or il arriva après la mort d'Abraham, que Dieu bénit Isaac son fils: et Isaac demeurait près du puits du Vivant qui me voit.
12 Nowe these are the generations of Ishmael Abrahams sonne, whome Hagar the Egyptian Sarahs handmayde bare vnto Abraham.
Ce sont ici les générations d'Ismaël, fils d'Abraham, qu'Agar Egyptienne, servante de Sara, avait enfanté à Abraham.
13 And these are the names of the sonnes of Ishmael, name by name, according to their kinreds; the eldest sonne of Ishmael was Nebaioth, then Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,
Et ce sont ici les noms des enfants d'Ismaël, desquels ils ont été nommés dans leurs générations. Le premier-né d'Ismaël fut Nébajoth, puis Kédar, Adbéel, Mibsam,
14 And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,
Mismah, Duma, Massa,
15 Hadar, and Tema, Ietur, Naphish, and Kedemah.
Hadar, Téma, Jétur, Naphis, et Kedma.
16 These are the sonnes of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their townes and by their castles: to wit, twelue princes of their nations.
Ce sont là les enfants d'Ismaël, et ce sont là leurs noms, selon leurs villages, et selon leurs châteaux: douze Princes de leurs peuples.
17 (And these are the yeeres of the life of Ishmael, an hundreth thirtie and seuen yeere, and he yeelded the spirit, and dyed, and was gathered vnto his people)
Et les ans de la vie d'Ismaël furent cent trente-sept ans; et il défaillit, et mourut, et fut recueilli vers ses peuples.
18 And they dwelt from Hauilah vnto Shur, that is towardes Egypt, as thou goest to Asshur. Ishmael dwelt in the presence of all his brethren.
Et [ses Descendants] habitèrent depuis Havila jusqu'à Sur, qui est vis-à-vis de l'Egypte, quand on vient vers l'Assyrie; et [le pays] qui était échu à [Ismaël] était à la vue de tous ses frères.
19 Likewise these are the generations of Izhak Abrahams sonne Abraham begate Izhak,
Or ce sont ici les générations d'Isaac, fils d'Abraham. Abraham engendra Isaac.
20 And Izhak was fourtie yeere olde, when he tooke Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramite of Padan Aram, and sister to Laban the Aramite.
Et Isaac était âgé de quarante ans, quand il se maria avec Rébecca, fille de Béthuel Syrien, de Paddan-Aram, sœur de Laban Syrien.
21 And Izhak prayed vuto the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceiued,
Et Isaac pria instamment l'Eternel au sujet de sa femme, parce qu'elle était stérile; et l'Eternel fut fléchi par ses prières; et Rébecca sa femme conçut.
22 But the children stroue together within her: therefore shee sayde, Seeing it is so, why am I thus? wherefore she went to aske the Lord.
Mais les enfants s'entrepoussaient dans son ventre, et elle dit: S'il est ainsi, pourquoi suis-je? Et elle alla consulter l'Eternel.
23 And the Lord sayd to her, Two nations are in thy wombe, and two maner of people shalbe diuided out of thy bowels, and the one people shall be mightier then the other, and the elder shall serue the yonger.
Et l'Eternel lui dit: Deux nations sont dans ton ventre, et deux peuples sortiront de tes entrailles; et un peuple sera plus fort que l'autre peuple, et le plus grand sera asservi au moindre.
24 Therefore when her time of deliuerance was fulfilled, behold, twinnes were in her wombe.
Et quand son temps d'enfanter fut accompli, voici il y avait deux jumeaux en son ventre.
25 So he that came out first was red, and he was all ouer as a rough garment, and they called his name Esau.
Celui qui sortit le premier, était roux, et tout [velu], comme un manteau de poil: et ils appelèrent son nom Esaü.
26 And afterward came his brother out, and his hande helde Esau by the heele: therefore his name was called Iaakob. Nowe Izhak was threescore yeere olde when Rebekah bare them.
Et ensuite sortit son frère, tenant de sa main le talon d'Esaü; c'est pourquoi il fut appelé Jacob. Or Isaac était âgé de soixante ans quand ils naquirent.
27 And the boyes grew, and Esau was a cunning hunter, and liued in the fields: but Iaakob was a plaine man, and dwelt in tentes.
Depuis, les enfants devinrent grands, et Esaü était un habile chasseur, et homme de campagne; mais Jacob était un homme intègre et se tenant dans les tentes.
28 And Izhak loued Esau, for venison was his meate, but Rebekah loued Iaakob.
Et Isaac aimait Esaü; car la venaison était sa viande. Mais Rébecca aimait Jacob.
29 Nowe Iaakob sod pottage, and Esau came from the fielde and was wearie.
Or comme Jacob cuisait du potage, Esaü arriva des champs, et il était las.
30 Then Esau sayd to Iaakob, Let me eate, I pray thee, of that pottage so red, for I am wearie. Therefore was his name called Edom.
Et Esaü dit à Jacob: Donne-moi, je te prie, à manger de ce roux, de ce roux; car je suis las. C'est pourquoi on appela son nom, Edom.
31 And Iaakob sayd, Sell me euen nowe thy birthright.
Mais Jacob lui dit: Vends-moi aujourd'hui ton droit d'aînesse.
32 And Esau sayd, Lo, I am almost dead, what is then this birthright to me?
Et Esaü répondit: Voici je m'en vais mourir; et de quoi me servira le droit d'aînesse?
33 Iaakob then said, Sweare to me euen now. And he sware to him, and solde his birthright vnto Iaakob.
Et Jacob dit: Jure-moi aujourd'hui; et il lui jura; ainsi il vendit son droit d'aînesse à Jacob.
34 Then Iaakob gaue Esau bread and pottage of lentiles: and he did eate and drinke, and rose vp, and went his way: So Esau contemned his birthright.
Et Jacob donna à Esaü du pain, et du potage de lentilles; et il mangea, et but; puis il se leva, et s'en alla; ainsi Esaü méprisa son droit d'aînesse.
