Genesis 24
1 Nowe Abraham was olde, and striken in yeeres, and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.
Und Abraham war alt, in die Tage gekommen, und Jehovah hatte Abraham in allem gesegnet.
2 Therefore Abraham saide vnto his eldest seruant of his house, which had the rule ouer all that he had, Put nowe thine hand vnder my thigh,
Und Abraham sprach zu dem ältesten Knechte seines Hauses, der über alles, was er hatte, herrschte: Lege doch deine Hand unter meine Hüfte.
3 And I will make thee sweare by ye Lord God of the heauen, and God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife vnto my sonne of the daughters of the Canaanites among who I dwel.
Und beschwöre dich bei Jehovah, dem Gott der Himmel und dem Gott der Erde, daß du meinem Sohne kein Weib nehmest von den Töchtern des Kanaaniters, in dessen Mitte ich wohne.
4 But thou shalt go vnto my countrey, and to my kinred, and take a wife vnto my sone Izhak.
Sondern zu meinem Land und zu meinem Geburtsort sollst du gehen, und meinem Sohne Isaak ein Weib nehmen.
5 And the seruant saide to him, What if the woman will not come with me to this land? shall I bring thy sonne againe vnto the lande from whence thou camest?
Und der Knecht sprach zu ihm: Vielleicht will das Weib mir nicht zu diesem Lande nachgehen. Soll ich dann deinen Sohn zu dem Land zurückbringen, aus dem du ausgezogen bist?
6 To whom Abraham answered, Beware that thou bring not my sonne thither againe.
Und Abraham sprach zu ihm: Hüte dich, daß du meinen Sohn dahin zurückbringest.
7 The Lord God of heauen, who tooke me from my fathers house, and from the land where I was borne, and that spake vnto me, and that sware vnto me, saying, Vnto thy seede wil I giue this land, he shall send his Angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife vnto my sonne from thence.
Jehovah, der Gott der Himmel, Der mich vom Hause meines Vaters und von dem Lande meiner Geburt genommen und zu mir geredet, und mir geschworen hat und gesagt: Deinem Samen will Ich dieses Land geben, Der wird Seinen Engel vor dir senden, und du wirst von dorther für meinen Sohn ein Weib nehmen.
8 Neuertheles if the woman wil not follow thee, then shalt thou bee discharged of this mine othe: onely bring not my sonne thither againe.
Und wenn das Weib dir nicht nachgehen will, so bist du dieses Schwurs ledig. Nur bringe meinen Sohn nicht dorthin zurück.
9 Then the seruant put his hand vnder the thigh of Abraham his master, and sware to him for this matter.
Und der Knecht legte seine Hand unter die Hüfte Abrahams, seines Herrn, und schwur ihm dieses Wort.
10 So the seruant tooke ten camels of the camels of his master, and departed: (for he had all his masters goods in his hand: ) and so he arose, and went to Aram Naharaim, vnto the citie of Nahor.
Und der Knecht nahm zehn Kamele von den Kamelen seines Herrn, und er ging und alles Gut seines Herrn war in seiner Hand, und er machte sich auf und zog gen Aram der beiden Flüsse, nach der Stadt Nachors.
11 And he made his camels to lye downe without the citie by a well of water, at euentide about the time that the women come out to draw water.
Und er ließ die Kamele niederknien außerhalb der Stadt an dem Wasserbrunnen zur Abendzeit, zur Zeit, da die Wasserschöpferinnen herauskommen.
12 And he said, O Lord God of my master Abraham, I beseech thee, send me good speede this day, and shew mercy vnto my master Abraham.
Und er sprach: Jehovah, Gott meines Herrn Abraham, laß es doch vor mir heute begegnen, und tue Barmherzigkeit meinem Herrn Abraham.
13 Lo, I stand by the well of water, whiles the mens daughters of this citie come out to drawe water.
Siehe, ich stelle mich an die Wasserquelle, und die Töchter der Männer der Stadt kommen heraus, Wasser zu schöpfen.
14 Graunt therefore that ye maide, to whom I say, Bowe downe thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drinke: if she say, Drinke, and I will giue thy camels drinke also: may be she that thou hast ordeined for thy seruant Izhak: and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed mercy on my master.
Lasse es geschehen, daß das Mädchen, zu der ich spreche: Neige doch deinen Krug, daß ich trinke, und die dann sagt: Trinke, und ich will auch deine Kamele tränken, die sei, die Du für deinen Knecht, für Isaak, bestimmt hast, und daß ich daran erkenne, daß Du mit meinem Herrn Barmherzigkeit tuest.
15 And nowe yer he had left speaking, beholde, Rebekah came out, the daughter of Bethuel, sonne of Milcah the wife of Nahor Abrahams brother, and her pitcher vpon her shoulder.
Und es geschah, ehe er die Rede vollendet hatte, siehe, da kam Rebekah heraus, die dem Bethuel geboren ward, dem Sohne Milkahs, des Weibes von Nachor, dem Bruder Abrahams, und ihr Krug war auf ihrer Schulter.
16 (And the maide was very faire to looke vpon, a virgine and vnknowen of man) and she went downe to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came vp.
Und das Mädchen war sehr gut anzusehen, eine Jungfrau, und kein Mann hatte sie erkannt. Und sie ging zur Quelle hinab und füllte ihren Krug, und kam herauf.
17 Then the seruant ranne to meete her, and said, Let me drinke, I pray thee, a litle water of thy pitcher.
Und der Knecht lief ihr entgegen und sprach: Bitte, laß mich ein wenig Wasser aus deinem Kruge schlürfen.
18 And she said, Drinke sir: and she hasted, and let downe her pitcher vpon her hand and gaue him drinke.
Und sie sprach: Trinke, mein Herr, und sie eilte und ließ ihren Krug herab auf ihre Hand und tränkte ihn;
19 And when she had giuen him drinke, she said, I will drawe water for thy camels also vntill they haue drunken inough.
Und als sie ihn zu tränken vollendet, sprach sie: Auch deinen Kamelen will ich schöpfen, bis daß sie vollends getrunken haben.
20 And she powred out her pitcher into the trough speedily; and ranne againe vnto the well to drawe water, and she drewe for all his camels.
Und sie eilte und ergoß ihren Krug in die Tränke, und lief wieder zum Brunnen, zu schöpfen, und schöpfte für alle seine Kamele.
21 So the man wondred at her, and helde his peace, to knowe whether the Lord had made his iourney prosperous or not.
Und der Mann staunte sie stillschweigend an, um zu erkennen, ob Jehovah seinen Weg gelingen lasse oder nicht.
22 And when the camels had left drinking, the man tooke a golden abillement of halfe a shekell weight, and two bracelets for her hands, of ten shekels weight of golde:
Und es geschah, da die Kamele aufhörten zu trinken, da nahm der Mann einen goldenen Reif, vom Gewicht eines halben Schekels, und zwei Armbänder an ihre Hände, zehn Goldschekel an Gewicht.
23 And he said, Whose daughter art thou? tell me, I pray thee, Is there roume in thy fathers house for vs to lodge in?
Und er sprach: Wessen Tochter bist du? Bitte, sage mir an, ob im Hause deines Vaters ein Ort zum übernachten für uns ist?
24 Then she said to him, I am the daughter of Bethuel the sonne of Milcah whom she bare vnto Nahor.
Und sie sprach zu ihm: Ich bin Bethuels Tochter, des Sohns der Milkah, den sie Nachor gebar.
25 Moreouer she said vnto him, We haue litter also and prouender ynough, and roume to lodge in.
Und sie sprach zu ihm: Auch haben wir viel Stroh und Futter bei uns, auch einen Ort zum übernachten.
26 And the man bowed himselfe and worshipped the Lord,
Und der Mann verneigte sich und beugte sich vor Jehovah,
27 And said, Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, which hath not withdrawen his mercie and his trueth from my master: for when I was in the way, the Lord brought me to my masters brethrens house.
Und sprach: Gesegnet sei Jehovah, der Gott meines Herrn Abraham, der von Seiner Barmherzigkeit und Wahrheit gegen meinen Herrn nicht gelassen; und mich hat Jehovah auf dem Weg nach dem Hause der Brüder meines Herrn geführt.
28 And the maide ranne and tolde them of her mothers house according to these wordes.
Und das Mädchen lief, und sagte es dem Hause ihrer Mutter an, gemäß diesen Worten.
29 Now Rebekah had a brother called Laban, and Laban ranne vnto the man to the well.
Und Rebekah hatte einen Bruder, und sein Name war Laban; und Laban lief hinaus zu dem Manne an der Quelle.
30 For when he had seene the earings and the bracelets in his sisters hands, and when he heard the wordes of Rebekah his sister, saying, Thus said the man vnto me, then he went to the man, and loe, he stoode by the camels at the well.
Und es geschah, als er den Reif und die Armbänder an den Händen seiner Schwester sah, und als er hörte die Worte seiner Schwester Rebekah, die sprach: So hat der Mann zu mir geredet, da kam er zu dem Manne, und siehe, er stand bei den Kamelen an der Quelle.
31 And he saide, Come in thou blessed of the Lord: wherefore standest thou without, seeing I haue prepared the house, and roume for ye camels?
Und er sprach: Komm, Gesegneter Jehovahs, warum stehst du draußen, und ich habe das Haus geräumt, und den Ort für die Kamele.
32 Then the man came into the house, and he vnsadled the camels, and brought litter and prouender for the camels, and water to wash his feete, and the mens feete that were with him.
Und der Mann kam in das Haus; und er löste die Kamele und gab Stroh und Futter den Kamelen, und Wasser, zu waschen seine Füße und die Füße der Männer, die mit ihm waren.
33 Afterward the meate was set before him: but he saide, I will not eate, vntill I haue saide my message: And he said, Speake on.
Und man setzte ihm zu essen vor. Er sprach aber: Ich will nicht essen bis ich meine Worte geredet habe. Und er sprach: Rede.
34 Then he said, I am Abrahams seruant,
Und er sprach: Ich bin Abrahams Knecht.
35 And the Lord hath blessed my master wonderfully, that he is become great: for he hath giuen him sheepe, and beeues, and siluer, and golde, and men seruants, and maide seruants, and camels, and asses.
Und Jehovah hat meinen Herrn sehr gesegnet, und er ist groß geworden, und Er hat ihm Kleinvieh und Rinder und Silber und Gold und Knechte und Dienstmägde und Kamele und Esel gegeben.
36 And Sarah my masters wife hath borne a sonne to my master, when she was olde, and vnto him hath he giuen all that he hath.
Und Sarah, meines Herrn Weib, gebar, nachdem sie alt geworden, meinem Herrn einen Sohn, und er hat ihm alles gegeben, was er hatte.
37 Now my master made me sweare, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife to my sonne of the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell:
Und mein Herr ließ mich schwören, und sagte: Du sollst meinem Sohne kein Weib nehmen von den Töchtern des Kanaaniters, in dessen Lande ich wohne.
38 But thou shalt go vnto my fathers house and to my kinred, and take a wife vnto my sonne.
Vielmehr sollst du zum Hause meines Vaters und zu meiner Familie gehen, und meinem Sohne ein Weib nehmen.
39 Then I saide vnto my master, What if the woman will not follow me?
Und ich sprach zu meinem Herrn: Vielleicht wird das Weib mir nicht nachgehen.
40 Who answered me, The Lord, before who I walke, will send his Angel with thee, and prosper thy iourney, and thou shalt take a wife for my sonne of my kinred and my fathers house.
Und er sprach zu mir: Jehovah, vor Dem ich gewandelt bin, wird Seinen Engel mit dir senden, und deinen Weg gelingen lassen, auf daß du meinem Sohne ein Weib von meiner Familie und aus dem Hause meines Vaters nehmest.
41 Then shalt thou be discharged of mine othe, when thou commest to my kinred: and if they giue thee not one, thou shalt be free from mine othe.
Dann bist du deines Eides ledig, wenn du zu meiner Familie kommst, und sie dir sie nicht geben; dann bist du deines Eides ledig.
42 So I came this day to the well, and said, O Lord, the God of my master Abraham, if thou nowe prosper my iourney which I goe,
Und ich kam heute zu der Quelle, und sprach: Jehovah, Gott meines Herrn Abraham, sei es doch, daß Du den Weg, auf dem ich gehe, gelingen lassest!
43 Behold, I stand by the well of water: when a virgine commeth forth to drawe water, and I say to her, Giue me, I pray thee, a litle water of thy pitcher to drinke,
Siehe ich stelle mich an die Wasserquelle, und es geschehe, daß die Jungfrau, die herauskommt zu schöpfen, und zu der ich spreche, gib mir doch ein wenig Wasser zu trinken aus deinem Krug,
44 And she say to me, Drinke thou, and I will also drawe for thy camels, let her be ye wife, which the Lord hath prepared for my masters sonne.
Und die zu mir sagt: Trinke du, und ich will auch deinen Kamelen schöpfen; daß sie das Weib sei, die Jehovah für den Sohn meines Herrn bestimmt hat.
45 And before I had made an end of speaking in mine heart, beholde, Rebekah came foorth, and her pitcher on her shoulder, and she went downe vnto the well, and drewe water. Then I said vnto her, Giue me drinke, I pray thee.
Ehe ich vollendet zu reden zu meinem Herzen, und siehe, da kommt Rebekah heraus und ihr Krug auf ihrer Schulter und sie ging zur Quelle hinab und schöpfte; und ich sprach zu ihr: Gib mir doch zu trinken.
46 And she made haste, and tooke downe her pitcher from her shoulder, and said, Drinke, and I will giue thy camels drinke also. So I dranke, and she gaue the camels drinke also.
Und sie eilte und ließ ihren Krug von sich herab und sprach: Trinke, und ich will auch deine Kamele tränken; und ich trank und auch die Kamele tränkte sie.
47 Then I asked her, and said, Whose daughter art thou? And she answered, The daughter of Bethuel Nahors sonne, whom Milcah bare vnto him. Then I put the abillement vpon her face, and the bracelets vpon her hands:
Und ich fragte sie und sprach: Wessen Tochter bist du? Und sie sprach: Ich bin die Tochter Bethuels, des Sohns von Nachor, den ihm Milkah gebar. Und ich legte den Reif an ihre Nase und die Armbänder an ihre Hände.
48 And I bowed downe and worshipped the Lord, and blessed the Lord God of my master Abraham, which had brought me the right way to take my masters brothers daughter vnto his sone.
Und ich verneigte und verbeugte mich vor Jehovah und segnete Jehovah, den Gott meines Herrn Abraham, Der mich auf den Weg der Wahrheit geführt, um die Tochter von meines Herrn Bruder seinem Sohne zu nehmen.
49 Now therefore, if ye will deale mercifully and truely with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me that I may turne me to the right hand or to the left.
Und nun, wenn es bei euch ist Barmherzigkeit und Wahrheit an meinem Herrn zu tun, sagt es mir an, und wo nicht, so sagt es mir an, auf daß ich das Gesicht zur Rechten oder zur Linken wende.
50 Then answered Laban and Bethuel, and said, This thing is proceeded of the Lord: we cannot therefore say vnto thee, neither euill nor good.
Und Laban antwortete und Bethuel und sie sprachen: Von Jehovah geht das Wort aus, wir vermögen nicht zu dir zu reden, weder Böses noch Gutes.
51 Beholde, Rebehak is before thee, take her and goe, that she may be thy masters sonnes wife, euen as the Lord hath said.
Siehe Rebekah ist vor dir, nimm sie und gehe, und sie sei das Weib des Sohnes deines Herrn, wie Jehovah geredet hat.
52 And when Abrahams seruant heard their wordes, he bowed himselfe toward the earth vnto the Lord.
Und es geschah, wie der Knecht Abrahams ihre Worte hörte, verbeugte er sich zur Erde vor Jehovah.
53 Then the seruant tooke foorth iewels of siluer, and iewels of golde, and raiment, and gaue to Rebekah: also vnto her brother and to her mother he gaue gifts.
Und der Knecht brachte silberne Geräte und goldene Geräte und Kleider heraus und gab sie der Rebekah, und Kostbarkeiten gab er ihrem Bruder und ihrer Mutter.
54 Afterward they did eate and drinke, both he, and the men that were with him, and taried all night. and when they rose vp in the morning, he said, Let me depart vnto my master.
Und sie aßen und tranken, er und die Männer, die mit ihm waren, und sie übernachteten. Und sie standen am Morgen auf und er sprach: Entsendet mich zu meinem Herrn.
55 Then her brother and her mother answered, Let the maide abide with vs, at the least ten dayes: then shall she goe.
Und ihr Bruder und ihre Mutter sprachen: Laß das Mädchen etwa zehn Tage bei uns bleiben, danach magst du gehen.
56 But he said vnto them, Hinder you me not, seeing the Lord hath prospered my iourney: send me away, that I may goe to my master.
Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Haltet mich nicht auf; denn Jehovah hat meinen Weg gelingen lassen. Entsendet mich, daß ich zu meinem Herrn gehe.
57 Then they said, We will call the maide, and aske her consent.
Und sie sprachen: Wir wollen das Mädchen rufen und ihren Mund fragen.
58 And they called Rebekah, and saide vnto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she answered, I will go.
Und sie riefen Rebekah, und sprachen zu ihr: Willst du mit diesem Manne gehen? Und sie sprach: Ich will gehen.
59 So they let Rebekah their sister goe, and her nourse, with Abrahams seruant and his men.
Und sie entsandten Rebekah, ihre Schwester und ihre Amme, und Abrahams Knecht und seine Männer.
60 And they blessed Rebekah, and sayde vnto her, Thou art our sister, growe into thousande thousands, and thy seede possesse the gate of his enemies.
Und sie segneten Rebekah, und sprachen zu ihr: Du bist unsere Schwester. Werde zu tausenden der Zehntausend, und dein Same besitze erblich das Tor seiner Hasser.
61 Then Rebekah arose, and her maydes, and rode vpon the camels, and followed the man. and the seruant tooke Rebekah, and departed.
Und Rebekah machte sich auf und ihre Mädchen, und sie ritten auf den Kamelen und gingen dem Manne nach. Und der Knecht nahm Rebekah und ging.
62 Nowe Izhak came from the way of Beer-lahai-roi, (for he dwelt in the South countrey)
Und Isaak kam von einem Gange nach dem Brunnen Lachai-Roi; und er wohnte im Lande des Mittags.
63 And Izhak went out. to pray in the fielde toward the euening: who lift vp his eyes and looked, and behold, the camels came.
Und Isaak war, als sich der Abend wendete, in das Feld hinausgegangen zu sinnen, und er hob seine Augen auf, und sah, und siehe, Kamele kamen daher.
64 Also Rebekah lift vp her eyes, and when she saw Izhak, she lighted downe from the camel.
Und Rebekah hob ihre Augen auf, und sah Isaak, und sie glitt herab vom Kamel.
65 (For shee had sayde to the seruant, Who is yonder man, that commeth in the fielde to meete vs? and the seruant had said, It is my master) So she tooke a vaile, and couered her.
Und sie sprach zu dem Knechte: Wer ist der Mann da, der auf dem Feld geht uns entgegen? Und der Knecht sprach: Das ist mein Herr. Und sie nahm den Schleier und bedeckte sich.
66 And the seruant tolde Izhak all things, that he had done.
Und der Knecht erzählte Isaak alles, was er getan hatte.
67 Afterward Izhak brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother, and he tooke Rebekah, and she was his wife, and he loued her: So Izhak was comforted after his mothers death.
Und Isaak brachte sie herein in das Zelt seiner Mutter Sarah, und nahm Rebekah, und sie ward sein Weib, und er liebte sie. Und Isaak ward getröstet nach seiner Mutter.
