Genesis 23
1 When Sarah was an hundreth twentie and seuen yeere olde (so long liued she).
১সারার বয়স একশো সাতাশ বছর হয়েছিল; সারার জীবনকাল এত বছর।
2 Then Sarah dyed in Kiriath-arba: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan. and Abraham came to mourne for Sarah and to weepe for her.
২পরে সারা কনান দেশে কিরিয়থর্ব্বে অর্থাৎ হিব্রোণে মারা গেলেন। আর অব্রাহাম সারার জন্য শোক ও কাঁদতে আসলেন।
3 Then Abraham rose vp from the sight of his corps, and talked with the Hittites, saying,
৩পরে অব্রাহাম নিজের মৃত স্ত্রীর সামনে থেকে উঠে গিয়ে হেতের সন্তানদের বললেন,
4 I am a stranger, and a forreiner among you, giue me a possession of buriall with you, that I may burie my dead out of my sight.
৪“আমি আপনাদের মধ্যে বিদেশী ও প্রবাসী; আপনাদের মধ্যে আমাকে কবরস্থানের অধিকার দিন; যেন আমি আমার সামনে আমার মৃত স্ত্রীকে কবর দিই।”
5 Then the Hittites answered Abraham, saying vnto him,
৫তখন হেতের ছেলেরা অব্রাহামকে উত্তর দিলেন,
6 Heare vs, my lorde: thou art a prince of God among vs: in the chiefest of our sepulchres bury thy dead: none of vs shall forbid thee his sepulchre, but thou mayest bury thy dead therein.
৬“হে প্রভু, আমাদের কথা শুনুন; আপনি আমাদের মধ্যে ঈশ্বর নিযুক্ত রাজাস্বরূপ; আপনার মৃত স্ত্রীকে আমাদের কবরস্থানের মধ্যে আপনার পছন্দের কবরে রাখুন, আপনার মৃত স্ত্রীকে কবর দেবার জন্য আমাদের কেউ নিজ কবর অস্বীকার করবে না”
7 Then Abraham stoode vp, and bowed him selfe before the people of the land of the Hittites.
৭তখন অব্রাহাম উঠে সেই দেশের লোকদের, অর্থাৎ হেতের ছেলেদের কাছে নত হলেন,
8 And he communed with them, saying, If it be your minde, that I shall bury my dead out of my sight, heare me, and intreate for me to Ephron the sonne of Zohar,
৮তিনি সম্ভাষণ করে বললেন, “আমার সামনে থেকে আমার মৃত স্ত্রীকে কবরে রাখতে যদি আপনাদের সম্মতি হয়, তবে আমার কথা শুনুন। আপনারা আমার জন্য সোহরের ছেলে ইফ্রোণের কাছে অনুরোধ করুন;
9 That he would giue me ye caue of Machpelah, which he hath in the ende of his field: that he would giue it me for as much money as it is worth, for a possession to bury in among you.
৯তাঁর ক্ষেত্রের শেষপ্রান্তে মক্পেলা গুহা আছে, আপনাদের মধ্যে আমার কবরস্থানের অধিকারের জন্য তিনি আমাকে তাই দিন; সম্পূর্ণ মূল্য নিয়ে দিন।”
10 (For Ephron dwelt among the Hittites) Then Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of all the Hittites that went in at the gates of his citie, saying,
১০তখন ইফ্রোণ হেতের সন্তানদের মধ্যে বসে ছিলেন; আর হেতের যত সন্তান তাঁর নগরের দরজা দিয়ে প্রবেশ করলেন, তাঁদের কর্ণগোচরে সেই হিত্তীয় ইফ্রোণ অব্রাহামকে উত্তর করলেন,
11 No, my Lord, heare me: the fielde giue I thee, and the caue, that therein is, I giue it thee: euen in the presence of the sonnes of my people giue I it thee, to bury thy dead.
১১“হে আমার প্রভু, তা হবে না, আমার কথা শুনুন, আমি সেই ক্ষেত্র ও সেখানকার গুহা আপনাকে দান করলাম; আমি নিজ জাতির সন্তানদের সামনেই আপনাকে তা দিলাম, আপনার মৃত স্ত্রীকে কবর দিন।”
12 Then Abraham bowed himselfe before the people of the land,
১২তখন অব্রাহাম সেই দেশের লোকদের সামনে নত হলেন,
13 And spake vnto Ephron in the audience of the people of the countrey, saying, Seeing thou wilt giue it, I pray thee, heare me, I will giue the price of the fielde: receiue it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
১৩আর সেই দেশের সকলের সামনে ইফ্রোণকে বললেন, “যদি আপনার ইচ্ছা হয়, নিবেদন করি, আমার কথা শুনুন, আমি সেই ক্ষেত্রের মূল্য দিই, আপনি আমার কাছে তা গ্রহণ করুন, পরে আমি সে জায়গায় আমার মৃত স্ত্রীকে কবর দেব।”
14 Ephron then answered Abraham, saying vnto him,
১৪তখন ইফ্রন উত্তর দিয়ে অব্রাহামকে বললেন,
15 My lord, hearken vnto me: ye land is worth foure hundreth shekels of siluer: what is that betweene me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
১৫“হে আমার প্রভু, আমার কথা শুনুন, সেই ভূমির মূল্য মাত্র চারশো শেকল রূপা; এতে আপনার ও আমার কি এসে যায়? আপনি নিজ মৃত স্ত্রীকে কবর দিন।”
16 So Abraham hearkened vnto Ephron, and Abraham weyed to Ephron the siluer, which he had named, in the audience of the Hittites, euen foure hundreth siluer shekels of currant money among marchants.
১৬তখন অব্রাহাম ইফ্রনের কথা শুনলেন; ইফ্রন হেতের সন্তানদের সামনে যে রূপার কথা বলেছিলেন, অব্রাহাম তা, অর্থাৎ বনিকদের মধ্যে প্রচলিত চারশো শেকল রূপা তুলে ইফ্রনকে দিলেন।
17 So the fielde of Ephron which was in Machpelah, and ouer against Mamre, euen the field and the caue that was therein, and all the trees that were in the fielde, which were in all the borders round about, was made sure
১৭এই ভাবে মম্রির সামনে মকপেলায় ইফ্রনের যে ক্ষেত ছিল, সেই ক্ষেত, সেখানকার গুহা ও সেই ক্ষেতের গাছগুলি, তার চারদিকের অন্তর্গত গাছগুলি,
18 Vnto Abraham for a possession, in ye sight of the Hittites, euen of all that went in at the gates of his citie.
১৮এই সব কিছু হেতের সন্তানদের সামনে, তাঁর নগরের দরজায় প্রবেশকারী সকলের সামনে, অব্রাহামের নিজের অধিকার স্থির করা হল।
19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the caue of the fielde of Machpelah ouer against Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.
১৯তারপরে অব্রাহাম কনান দেশের মম্রির, অর্থাৎ হিব্রোণের সামনে মকপেলা ক্ষেত্রে অবস্থিত গুহাতে নিজের স্ত্রী সারার কবর দিলেন।
20 Thus the fielde and the caue, that is therein, was made sure vnto Abraham for a possession of buriall by the Hittites.
২০এই ভাবে কবরস্থানের অধিকারের জন্য সেই ক্ষেত্রে ও সেখানকার গুহাতে অব্রাহামের অধিকার হেতের সন্তানদের মাধ্যমে স্থির করা হল।
